Great. Libertarianism as defined by a CIA plant. Been telling you what it is for thirteen years, and you want the CIA's definition. Fine. May your chains rest lightly upon you, and may history forget we were "allies".

We're seeing all kinds of "progress". We're getting left progressivism and "conservative progressivism". Progressive is what the P in GOP now stands for. We are progressing toward fascist tyranny so fast there's no longer any need to ask, are we there yet? The GOP means nothing. They're not counting our votes anyway; it's not even a secret any more. Stick a fork in this republic. We couldn't keep it. We traded it for shiny beads, trinkets and a chance to piss off Chuck Todd one last time.

Incrementalism: Overreach, but have a stooge pushing back in a half-assed manner. The stooge then becomes a hero, and you can "elect" him into a position to grab another increment with less resistance. If at first you don't succeed, kill a few more people. You'll get those frogs boiled. I thought once we got within an inch and a half of full fascist tyranny, people might be willing to draw a line in the sand. I guess not. Team Red rah rah blah blah. I'm against nationalized health care. I want governors to take it over. Wheeee! Look how conservative I am!

Just in Florida? The federal government is pure evil, doing pure evil all over the world. Of course rationing an effective treatment to sell more of an ineffective "vaccine" is beyond sleazy and psychopathic. State pushback is just what the doctor ordered. And until this moment, DeSantis has mostly been part of the problem. Other governors have been quietly doing the right thing, but the guy trying to turn his whole state's medical industrial complex into fascism is getting all the MSM attention. I wonder why?

That's the beauty of problem - reaction - "solution", isn't it? "They don't need to take this over to save those lives. We were already saving those lives without government help. If we let them get away with this power grab, we will regret it from now on." "How can you be so cold-blooded as to even think of that right now?!? People are dying!!" I guess it just doesn't pay to keep a calm head in a crisis.

People who are dead before 2024 can't vote in 2024 unless they are democrats. Then what are you babbling about? I've said repeatedly I don't give a flip about DeSantis. I'm just glad people are getting access to the treatment they need. This ain't about "red flock shepherds" and being "alpha." Where the hell is your sense of compassion? Anti Federalist pointed out that this treatment is saving his life. A governor of a state seeking treatment for the people of his state is not a violation of conservatism. Trump banning bump stocks by executive order is a violation of conservatism. If you're bitching about "federal money", Ron Paul brought a boatload of federal money back to his district as a congressmen so I guess you'd throw him out too. But again, if you're such a purist then put your money where your mouth is. That's something that neither you nor PAF seem willing to do. The answer to "The taxpayers shouldn't fund this" is to fund it your own damn self.

Yes. You are clearly insane. I get it. But I was asking for a solution to saving lives. Your thread on "Ron DeSantis On The Record" has nothing in it about saving lives. Question. Are you a nihilist? Do you just want people to die? It seems like it. Same for acptulsa.

Actually that's not true. The ulitmate reason Rand Paul gave for support for the CRA is that the Jim Crow laws created an environment that needed correcting. Yes he flip flopped on the issue. But his final position is correct. The Jim Crow system had a government and a pseudo government part. Ten years after Brown v Board of Education outlawed segregation you still had state mandated and terrorist mandated (KKK) segregation. And ultimately the goal is individual freedom.

Never mind that they can't get away with making the major party nominee He Who Must Not Be Named in the general election. We must vote for the name we hear most, because electability. Never mind the purpose of the primary is to carefully home in on the best your party has to offer. We have to go with the most talked-about before many states even vote because horse race and unity and picking winners and stuff.

I disagree. It's in no way an appeal to us. It isn't just that even as he pretends to kiss our butts, he insults us early, often and deeply. But it's more pernicious than that. So, the fact that RINOs have done every bit of their share in moving us a long, long way away from the Constitution--more, really, because they're less likely to be resisted by the people who hired them--is just one of those shit happens in the real world things. Trying to actually do something about it, like listen to libertarians and nominate decent candidates, instead of nominating whomever CNN whines about the most as usual, is not important. What's important is blaming libertarians when CNN picks you a loser like McCain or Romney. Never mind that you fell for it and nominated the guaranteed loser, instead of listening to those "smug" people who know better and trying it their way for the first time since 1924 (when we had people were in office, people were free, and the U.S. economy was making the world wealthy).

Those who went off the reservation may therefore appeal to you, in light of the fact that you will die of starvation eventually. But if our cavalry ever finds them, they will die sooner. Therefore, it's important that you stay on the reservation and hope you die later, rather than sooner." "Voters of Team Red. You know this empire is crumbling. We are the ones tearing it down. But it's important that you keep nominating whomever CNN tells you constantly that they hate, or Team Blue might cause the empire to crumble faster. Therefore it's important that you not try it their way and see if He Who Must Not Be Named, if nominated, might win the election, because then the empire might not outlive you." Stay on the reservation, Republicans. That way, even if you win, you lose.

It's not about convincing libertarians that the same stupidity that got us into this mess will get us out. It's about making people who aren't conservative, but self-identify as conservatives, afraid to "leave their lane" and do something in their own self-interest for a change. God forbid they stop depending on CNN to tell them who CNN hates the most, and act on their principles for a change. They might discover doing the same thing over and over, hoping for a different result, isn't as much fun as they thought it was Team players will throw the game time after time after time, if you've buffaloed them into thinking scoring real points will lose your Team the game.

What are you missing? How about the fact that Trump was absolutely in on the COVID scam from the get go and it could not have happened without his aiding and abetting? GOF research stopped under Obama. It restarted when Trump was president. And no. I do not "regret not voting for Trump." Why? Because I actually understand the constitution and can count. There was no way Trump would lose my state with our without my vote. The GOP primary was a mere formality so I voted Tulsi Gabbard. That was also a protest vote. I voted Jorgensen in the general. No regrets. I have no problem with those who voted for Trump either. That just wasn't me.

Trust me, this is all about 2024 to the OP, yes. No, I don't really have an argument against states pushing back against .fedgov, especially considering the way I talked about Montana and their ban on employer mandates. No, I have no objection to temporary relief at all. I'm just not any more interested in which Red Flock Shepherd is more Alpha than you are. Am I concerned DeSantis will get too much credit for this? Not really. I'm more concerned that people seem to be confusing this with conservatism. I'm concerned that no matter how dire the situation becomes, Team Red will never be able to pull their heads out and realize that only their principles will save us. Their New Alpha Shepherd won't even try, any more than Reagan or Trump did. I learned from history, and I'm fucking sick of repeating it. That, too, isn't complicated. People just insist that the same stupidity that got us into this mess will get us out. What was that definition of insanity, again?

I'm having trouble following your logic. What I think your concern is that not that what Desantis is doing is actually wrong, but that you're concerned he'll get too much credit for it? This is about 2024 for you? I do not care! What is your proposal to getting monoclonal antibodies to the patients in states where Biden is throttling that? If you don't have an answer for that, then you don't really have a valid argument. Slavery itself is a crime against humanity. Getting treatment for the people in your state is not a crime against humanity. And you have not even given a rational explanation as to how Desantis move "hurts" other states. Quite the contrary. The "free market" of supply and demand dictates that manufacturing increases based on increased demand. If Desantis gamble pays off, and early results shows that it is paying off, then other states are likely to go directly to the manufacture. Guess what the manufacturer will do at that point? Increase the supply! Really, this isn't that complicated.

Slavers defending slavery were trying to give their tribe more options. And demanding that "the conservative party" offer up conservatives will at least help us find the cancer. If the GOP cannot or will not do so, it is the cancer.

My personal story (pt2)

by CaptUSA on 02-24-2016 at 09:57 AM
Among my many interests was electricity and I decided that I wanted to change how the industry operates. Understanding the free market as I did, I was pissed that the coolest discovery in the history of mankind was being regulated to death by the government. I wanted to change that.

I found a job as a part-time temporary meter reader. My girlfriend went ballistic that I was quitting a salaried job for a part-time temp job, but I had complete confidence in what I was doing. Meter

My personal story (pt 1)

by CaptUSA on 02-24-2016 at 09:55 AM
I’ve never used this blog feature before, but since people have wondered (and asked) about my personal story, I figured it was best to do it in here rather than the forums.

It may come across as anecdotal, but I assure you that this same type free market story is working itself out all over the country and the globe. Even in the face or increasing government interference.

I was born in Western PA the third of four boys. When I was still a baby, the second child died
