Because it doesn't usually work like that... If you can organize and turn out a crowd you can apply pressure to the politicians which often can indeed make a difference. But not everywhere all the time. And also on most issues you don't get enough people to turn out. Even here in FL gun owners were unable to stop Rick Scott's red flag law. Or demand full Constitutional Carry. And in TN their Governor is about to ram through red flag laws there too. Unsure whether it's going to be stopped. Point being is that to get people mad enough to do something about it, is very rare. Sometimes it happens, but it is hard work and rare. Killing legislation is the lowest hanging fruit because legislators are usually nervous about angering groups of voters. Getting legislation passed is very difficult because a lot of stars have to align. A lot of it depends on the political environment in conjunction with doing the right things strategically and tactically. Often times political causes take a decade or more to pass even at the state level. Sometimes you can get a few dozen people to show up to a local government meeting or a congressional town hall and make a difference. But not always. And even if you do, will that same amount of people will have no effect on the legislature or the federal Congress; you have to increase it by an order of magnitude or more. That's not easy, and thankfully by design. But being hard has obvious downsides too. If you can cause politicians political pain, specifically electoral pain, that is usually where they are most responsive. Again that doesn't even mean defeating them in their reelection, but forcing them to fight for ground they consider theirs. If they know that by casting a vote for or against X it could cost them the upcoming election, then they likely will not pursue that action. Incumbents don't like to work to get reelected; simply forcing them to work can be enough political pain to change their behavior on specific pieces of policy.

It will depend on the details. It's a complete hypothetical. But I know for a fact the government will not go door-to-door to confiscate guns. What they may do however is just over tax them, make them impossible to buy/sell/trade/transport, etc.

I think this is a bad ruling. Private entities should not be able to detain people for such minor and non violent crimes.

Senators Continue Efforts to Return War Powers to Congress, Introduce the End Endless Wars Act WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Rand Paul (R-KY), Mike Lee (R-UT), J.D. Vance (R-OH), and Mike Braun (R-IN) introduced the End Endless Wars Act, which would repeal the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) 180 days after enactment. This legislation would restore the constitutional role of the people’s representatives in Congress to debate and decide whether, where, and how to authorize the use of military force. “If there exists any desire to reclaim our Constitutional power and send a message to the world that we are nation of peace, Congress should pass this bill and repeal the 2001 Authorization for war. After all, the 2001 AUMF never intended to authorize worldwide war, all the time, everywhere, forever,” said Dr. Paul. “The 2001 AUMF was enacted in response to the brutal attacks waged on 9/11 by terrorist groups based in Afghanistan. Twenty-two years later, the 2001 AUMF is still being used but for conflicts far beyond the boundaries of Afghanistan. Today, we have a defense budget approaching a trillion dollars, we have a military-industrial complex growing richer every day that we remain at war, and we have troops deployed across the world under vague authorities like the 2001 AUMF with no defined mission or objectives set by Congress. The 2001 AUMF has become one of the many instruments of misuse, and it is time for members of Congress to end this authority that keeps us in endless wars,” said Sen. Lee.

Maybe.... do you think the 2nd Amendment could be ratified today? No, of course not. Hell, only half the states have some form of permitless carry and it's like pulling teeth to get most of them to pass just even that. So all of these anti-freedom ideas need to be shot down as soon as possible so that they don't grow legs.

Congressman Matt Gaetz Introduces Resolution to Hold Former Trump Prosecutor Mark Pomerantz in Contempt of Congress Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-01) introduced a resolution to hold Mark F. Pomerantz, a former Trump prosecutor, in contempt of Congress for failing to comply with a congressional subpoena. The resolution directs the Sergeant at Arms of the House of Representatives to summon him. On February 7th, 2023, Pomerantz published a book about his experience joining the New York County District Attorney’s Office in February 2021 to work on the investigation of President Donald Trump. On April 6th, 2023, Pomerantz was subpoenaed by the House of Representatives Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government. After frivolous legal challenges to the subpoena, he appeared under oath for a congressional deposition on May 12th, 2023, after a federal judge told him “no one is above the law.” However, during his appearance, he failed to comply with the subpoena by incorrectly asserting his Fifth Amendment right when asked questions about information he referenced in his book. "Through his lack of testimony, Mark Pomerantz has undoubtedly undermined the legitimacy of this witch hunt indictment against President Donald Trump. Mr. Pomerantz pled the Fifth to nearly every question about his time in the Manhattan DA’s office, despite writing a tell-all book about his time there.

You do realize that Ron Paul himself voted for ever Republican Speaker of the House, right? He admitted that even he couldn't get away with not compromising on that vote. There is video of it somewhere.

The federal government is a lost cause and pretty much has been since day one. What federal liberty types, such as Thomas and Rand and Mike Lee, can only hope to achieve is to slow the long decline and make it less painful in the short term. They can prevent some bad things from happening but cannot prevent the eventual degradation of the federal government into wherever it is going (tyranny, irrelevance, collapse, whatever? etc). And it could take decades, maybe centuries. Who knows? But we do need some good people in there to at least try to protect us and slow the shenanigans.
