I understand and your point is valid. All I'm doing is pointing out why the small government message can and does resonate with blue collar working class folks. And the polar bears falling over is a wisecrack, not meant to be serious. But they have moved past acid rain concerns, now it is sulfur oxides causing global warming and particulate pollution.

Even in Texas, it is now illegal to have the Juror’s Bill of Rights anywhere close to a courthouse. Apparently, they don’t want people to understand that you don’t have to follow the Judge’s dictates and that you can find someone innocent if you think a bad law is being used to prosecute them. Years ago, before this was changed, and I was a juror in both a civil and criminal trial, I handed that thing out like crazy! What was a bit surprising to me was how subservient most of the jurors were. Even to get part of a testimony read back to us; the Judge had admonished us not to do that. But, they wouldn’t give us hard copy either. There was a point in our deliberation where we disagreed on what was said. So I said we needed to ask for this part to be read. Most were like… oh no, the judge said not to. I expressed that I didn’t care and you wouldn’t believe all the gaping mouths. We did get it done, but it showed me how important it was to not get out of jury duty and to just do it. Because the people who are showing up, sure aren’t our peers.

That and more conservative types focused on other areas, while marxists largely took over higher education. Then the people they trained became the teachers in grade schools on up. So, public schools appear to be Marxist training centers now.

Just some additional info: the reason diesel fuel is so expensive is not due entirely to crude prices, but rather to EPA mandates concerning sulfur content. EPA continues to ratchet down on the sulfur content in diesel fuel so that polar bears don't fall over or the three assed creek snail does not dry up. The problem with that is two fold: it is very expensive to "scrub" that sulfur in the refining process, and it gets exponentially more expensive for each fractional reduction. Second is that every time you do that, you remove potential energy in a given volume of fuel. I've been using and working on and maintaining diesel engines and equipment for damn near fifty years now and I can tell you the fuel today does not look or smell or burn or weigh the same as unscrubbed diesel from say 1984.

A trucker's largest expense, greater than the truck itself, is fuel cost. Diesel fuel prices exploded to almost $6 per gallon, under Biden's regime. In addition, regulatory costs, including EV truck mandates that Biden's regime put in place this year, will effectively shut down long haul trucking. Whatever the leftist running the Teamsters says, rank and file truckers have no reason to support Biden.

Biden won’t drop out, campaign insists in a new memo https://www.cnbc.com/2024/07/19/biden-wont-drop-out-campaign-insists-in-new-memo-.html {Josephine Rozzelle | 19 July 2024 President Joe Biden will remain at the top of the Democratic ticket, his campaign insists in a new memo obtained by NBC News. The memo from the campaign’s battleground states director Dan Kanninen stresses that while lawmakers increasingly call on the president to step down, Biden still has the support of voters. But Kanninen acknowledged that many polls show Biden trailing Trump, writing, “I will not sugar coat the state of the race: we have our work cut out for us to win this November.” President Joe Biden’s campaign insisted Friday that he will remain at the top of the Democratic ticket, stressing in a new memo that Biden still has the support of voters, even as a growing number of Democratic lawmakers call on him to drop out.

Exactly. And that battle will continue after he is gone. It really isn't too difficult: will there be a political party in the US that will represent the US and it's people, first, or not?

Rand tried that once. Remember? And it was pretty bad. He would have had to get a lot of training to get more charisma or something. I hate it, but he just didn’t come across well. He is by far the best Senator up there, at least since Barry Goldwater in his younger years. But Rand is even better. I am thankful that he is still there.

The point is that we won’t be the ones using it. While I agree with more drilling, I would prefer to be the ones using it. We are not at a risk of running out of oil, but is there a point we should be concerned with shipping most of it to other countries? Talking about the drilling on “federal land”.

Oh, I agree. Totally. But, so many people, outside of this forum, seem to think it is the federal government who is the only government in existence and needs to make all laws. A one size fits all.

:nauseated: I have no issue with them letting gay people or whatever on the SS. As long as they meet the physical and mental requirements. Being gay or whatever should not be used as a bypass for the requirements mentioned though, and that appears to be what is happening.

Have you checked recently how much of the U.S. is “federal land”? There is a ton! That is my issue. There should be very, very little federal land. Currently, they are allowing illegal aliens to camp on and destroy it anyway. ‘https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/white-house-rejects-republican-bill-block-housing-migrants-federal-lan-rcna126837

The state of Texas has dealt with online porn by demanding they make everyone prove their age before giving them access. It seems to have gotten their attention. Not everything was meant to be dealt with at the federal level. I am not against this. If I don’t like it, I can move to a different state; just like our Founders intended. Plus, changing a bad law locally or at the state law is one heck of a lot easier than changing it at the federal level.

I wholeheartedly agree. But, the limp appendage or sold out Republicans aren’t going to do it. And Rand and Thomas cannot do it alone. Possibly, if enough of their constituents contacted their offices to insist, they might worry about getting re-elected and might do something. It is hard to even get people to send an email or leave a voicemail though.

I agree. When RP was in Congress, he had a weekly class as I recall. Is Rand keeping that going? Mises isn’t in DC, so is there anyone gently challenging Vance’s beliefs? Not everyone is evil; most just don’t have the information yet. And most aren’t going to listen if the approach is to insult them, say they need to read a bunch of books, or try to feed them with a firehose.

No one is leading us around. We have no liberty candidate to vote for and we likely won’t unless more good people educate themselves and run for office. Meantime, the boat is about to sink and I would like to keep it afloat long enough until we do have someone we want to vote for. If the boat completely sinks, we aren’t going to have that opportunity. And no, I don’t believe if that we completely crash that the good guys will spring up like a phoenix. In fact, I think they WANT us to crash. People will be panicked and they will accept a world currency and world government, immediately. You want someone good to vote for; so do I. How are we going to get more Thomas Massies? Why don’t you do as he did and run for local office?

Why is drilling our own oil en masse seen to be a great thing? It is almost if people think that this all will be kept in the U.S. But oil is sold on the global market. What am I missing?

Adventures in "democracy": an index of threads

"'Our democracy' is always code for 'our hegemony'." -- Michael Malice

With the Colorado supreme court's (self-stayed) decision to exclude Donald Trump from the state's Republican primary ballot, the war for "muh democracy" has begun in earnest. There were hints and intimations of what was to come - and now, those rumblings have begun to bear fruit. News of the Colorado decision was followed by a cascade of other similar decisions, announcements, etc. from around
