I think any city over 100K population pushing non citizens to vote or rec any benefits subsidized by any fed tax money should have all fed aid of any kind other than soc sec, military pensions and medicare ( self funded) immedietly suspended on a semi permanent basis . They should be forced to beg congress for reinstatement .

AT&T blames coding error for hourslong network outage AT&T blamed the incident on an error in coding, without elaborating. https://www.wthr.com/article/news/nation-world/att-hit-with-massive-outage/507-2b35f093-be53-4a92-a23d-dfa98e9393e3 {Chris McCrory | 22 February 2024} WASHINGTON — AT&T said Thursday that all of its customers impacted by a nationwide service outage have cell service again, after an hourslong outage that appeared to be the result of a technical error, not a malicious attack. An AT&T spokesperson said all service had been restored in an update shortly before 3:30 p.m. Eastern, nearly 12 hours after customers began reporting issues. “We have restored wireless service to all our affected customers," AT&T said. "We sincerely apologize to them. Keeping our customers connected remains our top priority, and we are taking steps to ensure our customers do not experience this again in the future.”

The last paragraph of that article: The scholars also warned that serious political instability and violence could ensue. That possibility was on Raskin’s mind, too. (Jamie Raskin-Israel-MD) He conceded that the threat of violence could influence what Democrats do if Trump wins. But, Raskin added, it wouldn’t necessarily stop them from trying to disqualify him. “We might just decide that’s something we need to prepare for.”

I certainly think so. But it seems there are quite a lot of people who are fine with it, so long as it's their flavor. They don't appear to care that you can only get as much liberty as you give. They just want to impose their preferences on their neighbors, rather than have their neighbors' preferences imposed on them. But in any case they're obviously content to impose their will on their neighbors.

If he had them in an LLC, they could seize all of the properties that were listed under the LLC, but they couldn't touch his own, personal assets. I don't know if an LLC can go public - i don't think it can, because every stock holder would literally be an owner. And I don't know whether or not Trump's business(es) are publicly or privately held, but I would guess that based on his business and total wealth that they're publicly held. Therefore, within the context of this blatant and naked lawfare that they're initiating against him, every single penny that he has is "fair" game, I'm afraid. Never mind the fact that the NY decision handed down by Engoron is wholly absurd and an absolute upending of business norms (in that a private entity is entirely within it's rights to assess the value of it's properties, and a lender is 100% within it's rights to conduct an independent valuation... never mind the fact that the lender was paid in full, timely, and with interest and so there truly was no victim. Thus the State sought to interject itself into this matter - for no reason at all - to suggest that Trump somehow defrauded NY of some tax value, which is by definition a socialist ruling by a decree from a judge, brought before him by a DA, both of whom were grinding an axe. This is an unacceptable level of governmental corruption that canNOT be tolerated in what is supposed to be a free and constitutionally governed society. Full stop.

Couldn't watch past "the upper class keeps all of the money and pays none of the taxes". That's some bullshit socialist propaganda. The upper class BY FAR pays the lion's share of taxes in this country... and that's without addressing the 400 lb. gorilla in the room regarding the fact that none of us - NONE, not rich, middle class or poor - should be paying "taxes" to the government, especially in this day and age wherein taxation is merely a whip, not a means of financing the government. That's what they have the Federal Reserve for. 34 trillion dollars in debt and growing exponentially by the day, and an annual budget that hasn't been balanced since the fucking 90's. But they've made us fat, lazy and stupid, so we sit here on our fat, lazy, stupid a$$es, enjoying the raft float down the river, seemingly completely oblivious to the waterfall we're heading toward. Every. Single. One of us... yeah, a couple of us do say, "hey guys, maybe we should get out of the water, seems like there might be trouble ahead"... but not enough of us. Well, I have my soft metals, and I have my land. And I will take are of my family to the best of my ability. But this ship is sinking, no matter how much or how little the wealthy pay. And I'm not going to depend on anyone other than myself, and people I damned sure know I can trust.

An LLC shields a private individual owner of a company from liability for damages (i.e., monetary claims). In other words, the LLC ("limited liability company") can only protect the owner of a non-public business of his personal assets, but not the assets of the company itself. ETA: That said, even an LLC can be sued beyond the valuation of the net worth of the company. There isn't anything limiting to that of course. Worst case scenario (and some of our resident legal eagles here can correct me if I'm wrong) the business can be liquidated, all assets seized and used to pay it's fines, but beyond that the company is effectively and practically bankrupt, but the owners personally held assets are not and cannot be claimed.

Adventures in "democracy": an index of threads

"'Our democracy' is always code for 'our hegemony'." -- Michael Malice

With the Colorado supreme court's (self-stayed) decision to exclude Donald Trump from the state's Republican primary ballot, the war for "muh democracy" has begun in earnest. There were hints and intimations of what was to come - and now, those rumblings have begun to bear fruit. News of the Colorado decision was followed by a cascade of other similar decisions, announcements, etc. from around
