Do you think when the government prints and borrows to create jobs, that's a good thing? If you lose your job and then borrow a bunch of money to take a vacation, is that a good thing? Or an irresponsible thing? I'm looking for positive things like a return to free markets and sound money.

Except that it's clearly not good news when the government has to borrow to generate employment instead of letting the free market create jobs.

This is clear evidence how the aggressive attitudes of the kops would change automatically when they are faced with even the remotest possibility of being criminally and financially responsible for their actions. This is why qualified immunity needs to go away.

People in riot stricken cities are reporting that a 911 call results in no answer or "We have our hands full, we'll get out there tommorow, maybe". There won't be any cops to put down riots, but bet your ass there will be cops to bust citizens trying to protect their property...with ball bats of course, because firearms are so heavily restricted. Why any sane white people still live in Chicago is baffling to me.

From Drudge; Mayor Lori Lightfoot denounces vigilantism in Chicago after white men patrol neighborhood streets with bats https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/mayor-lori-lightfoot-denounces-vigilantism-in-chicago-after-white-men-patrol-neighborhood-streets-with-bats/ar-BB152S4r?li=BBnbfcL Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said the city will not tolerate vigilantism after groups of mostly white men patrolled the streets of the Bridgeport neighborhood on Wednesday night in response to a nearby city protest. Multiple streets were blocked in the Bridgeport neighborhood Wednesday night as nearby protests dispersed. Near West Pershing Road, water gushed from an open fire hydrant as small groups gathered on corners. Some of the men held bats. One wore a shirt that said “All Lives Matter,” one sipped a beer and another waved at an officer as he drove by. Additional groups of people, some armed with bats, lined West 31st Street.

Who knows. How would you even attribute such a thing? It's like the emotional "hate crime" label when there is no scientific instrument measuring hate, love, or jealousy. Maybe Chauvin and Floyd had a previous conflict at the bar where they both worked. Perhaps Chauvin was showing off to the rookie kop Lane. Maybe Chauvin beat his wife and she told him to fight a man. Perhaps his dick was too small. Maybe Floyd told Chauvin to go fuck himself. Maybe the devil took over Chauvin's body. Perhaps a black guy wasn't Chauvin's first choice to drink a beer with. Etc. Could have been all of those. Or none of those.

The original 10 minute video taken by an onlooker looks really bad.. Trump, Hannity, pretty much everybody on the planet who saw that video said it looked like murder. But the original video did not capture everything that was going on. For one thing, the original video showed one officer appearing to restrain the suspect using his knee on his neck as he begged for his life. It seemed as though it was just this one officer, and the pressure on his neck which was keeping him down. What it didn't show, is that behind the vehicle there was another officer holding him down by his torso, and another officer holding down his legs. So the officer with the knee on the neck was not the one applying sole pressure on him to keep him still. That means the pressure on his neck may have been less than it appeared by the deceptive video, it was kind of hard to tell. The other issue is that the official autopsy came back not as asphyxiation, but a heart attack. George Floyd did a lot of cocaine, which causes heart problems over time that apparently cannot be detected by medical equipment. In addition, there was allegedly conversation between the officers discussing what position they should put him in to keep him from dying. They knew he was in a drug delirium, and he came back positive for fentanyl and meth. So that would go against the narrative that the cops were trying to kill him, but of course none of this completely absolves the officers and it is something that needs to be figured out in a court of law with a jury.

I'm on a forum with far fewer users than RPF, and they have shills. I could actually see physical evidence of their hacks. If I posted a thread, then it was hacked within 2 minutes. I posted at various times--day or night--and my question was always hacked. They did it to other users. The hacking was stopped by mods, but the shills use other methods. Sometimes people forget what a threat Ron Paul was in 2008. The first shill came here Feb 2008. Others followed, and they're still here. I think there are people in this world terribly frightened of things like anti-globalism, nationalism, liberty, etc. These people understand that the written word is an incredibly powerful tool. The internet is the new tech conveyor of that. The people paying shills are diffuse with different motivations and techniques. Internet diffuseness means that is no one central place (e.g., network TV), so they seek out many smaller places to spread their message. And maybe they are wasting their money here, but it doesn't take away from the fact that they're here.

It sounded to me like they resigned due to the punishment received by the offending officer(s)? I'd say good move. If they aren't willing to protect their own, then they shouldn't be working for them. Even the clips Fox News played was deceptive, they really need to show the guy walking up to them and shaking his phone and touching them, before the push.

The daily struggle meme.. Anti Federalist, me and plenty of others here definitely have conflicting feelings on this whole situation. Maybe somebody can help caption that meme, because it is highly appropriate for the situation. Ya, I've been known to say "fuck tha police", but I also like law and order, when the laws and the order are justified by protecting the rights of individuals and their property. But we all know that too much of the time, cops are busy enforcing unconstitutional, burdensome laws.

READ THE FULL LETTER: Open letter advocating for an anti-racist public health response to demonstrations against systemic injustice occurring during the COVID-19 pandemic On April 30, heavily armed and predominantly white protesters entered the State Capitol building in Lansing, Michigan, protesting stay-home orders and calls for widespread public masking to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Infectious disease physicians and public health officials publicly condemned these actions and privately mourned the widening rift between leaders in science and a subset of the communities that they serve. As of May 30, we are witnessing continuing demonstrations in response to ongoing, pervasive, and lethal institutional racism set off by the killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, among many other Black lives taken by police. A public health response to these demonstrations is also warranted, but this message must be wholly different from the response to white protesters resisting stay-home orders. Infectious disease and public health narratives adjacent to demonstrations against racism must be consciously anti-racist, and infectious disease experts must be clear and consistent in prioritizing an anti-racist message. White supremacy is a lethal public health issue that predates and contributes to COVID-19. Black people are twice as likely to be killed by police compared to white people, but the effects of racism are far more pervasive. Black people suffer from dramatic health disparities in life expectancy, maternal and infant mortality, chronic medical conditions, and outcomes from acute illnesses like myocardial infarction and sepsis. Biological determinants are insufficient to explain these disparities. They result from long-standing systems of oppression and bias which have subjected people of color to discrimination in the healthcare setting, decreased access to medical care and healthy food, unsafe working conditions, mass incarceration, exposure to pollution and noise, and the toxic effects of stress. Black people are also more likely to develop COVID-19. Black people with COVID-19 are diagnosed later in the disease course and have a higher rate of hospitalization, mechanical ventilation, and death. COVID-19 among Black patients is yet another lethal manifestation of white supremacy. In addressing demonstrations against white supremacy, our first statement must be one of unwavering support for those who would dismantle, uproot, or reform racist institutions. Staying at home, social distancing, and public masking are effective at minimizing the spread of COVID-19. To the extent possible, we support the application of these public health best practices during demonstrations that call attention to the pervasive lethal force of white supremacy. However, as public health advocates, we do not condemn these gatherings as risky for COVID-19 transmission. We support them as vital to the national public health and to the threatened health specifically of Black people in the United States. We can show that support by facilitating safest protesting practices without detracting from demonstrators' ability to gather and demand change. This should not be confused with a permissive stance on all gatherings, particularly protests against stay-home orders. Those actions not only oppose public health interventions, but are also rooted in white nationalism and run contrary to respect for Black lives. Protests against systemic racism, which fosters the disproportionate burden of COVID-19 on Black communities and also perpetuates police violence, must be supported. Therefore, we propose the following guidance to support public health: ● Support local and state governments in upholding the right to protest and allow protesters to gather.
