+643pts in final 15 minutes. Move along, nothing to see here. Just like how the bogus "trade deal" news was used to pump the bubble, generally bogus "coronavirus" news will probably be used to deflate it. 3-6 is the 11th anniversary of S&P 666... (/numbers) I expect a couple of modest up days to start next week and then back off a cliff again when the next batch of virus news hits. This cycle will roughly repeat for most of the year. My .02.

Posts about the dangers of potential socialism are funny because they demonstrate a general lack of knowledge/awareness that we've been a socialist country for over 80 years already. Most of the Communist Manifesto has already been enacted. Progressive taxes, no private property, government indoctrination centers (public schools), central bank, etc. The CFR that surrounds Trump and every other President are communists so it's ridiculous to read arguments in favor of one candidate over the other. They're both working for communists so the only difference is which marketing package is used to sell more communist globalism. http://laissez-fairerepublic.com/TenPlanks.html

Interesting that it always happens exactly when Kudlow shows up on the tv. It could bounce a bit next week, especially after the apparent "buy" signal in the last 15 minutes and the PPT running hot today. It won't last though.

Kudlow showed up on CNBC while at the same time the PPT was activated. It's so obvious that whenever he runs out in front of the cameras for a quick presser, the PPT starts buying chunks of index futures to halt the plunge.

You didn't make any points and even said you weren't going to. Quoting AF's post about some random regulations and receiving a few extra tax bucks back isn't a point, sorry. Of course you won't, because I'll dismantle everything you write and end up with more believers than the thread started with. You types make for great strawmen for me to post further evidence so you won't risk that. Are you seriously asking whether sock puppet accounts exist?

My comment was an observation of the same narrative control that emerges every Presidential election. Last time it was "we're all dead with Hillary so let's vote for the con man." I'll let you in on a little secret but don't tell anyone, ok? Bernie's already been chosen by the people that really run this place, but please don't let me stop you from thinking that Presidential elections are fair, honest and random affairs. Your participation in the illusion and consent to the outcome by participating is required to legitimize the illusion. eta: whose sock puppet are you? 100 posts and rep beyond repute? k

They'll continue to do this as it rises, albeit in a very volatile fashion. Goldman won't come out and say gold $5000 by end of year otherwise everyone would pile in at once. This way, they always get to claim that they were ahead of the curve and being good "advisors", even though they probably know where metals are really heading. It's a karma thing. Good luck with that. I sincerely hope it works out for you but I don't think it will. Or at least not in the short to medium term. If people stop going out unnecessarily and air travel becomes further restricted (and it likely will) no one will be getting on ships, going to casinos, spending on overpriced jeans, etc. ymmv

And so it begins yet again.... The lesser of two evils arguments start. On the other hand, at least with Bernie you know what you're getting and maybe the GOP will go back to actually opposing socialism instead of embracing it like they do now with Trump. Though under Trump socialism has seen smooth sailing while the low-info types are distracted by performance theater impeachments and nothingburger Mueller reports. Paying billions to farmers? *applause from GOP* Supporting and signing the globalist NAU/TPP called USMCA? *applause from GOP* Record deficits *applause from GOP* ('cuz you know, soldiers and flags and freedum) Take the guns first and bump stock bans *applause from GOP*, etc. Most damage to conservative principles these days happens when a Republican is in the WH. It's only when a Dem is in office that conservatives wake up from their stupor and start paying attention again. And now it's only February and we're already openly discussing the merits of a lying con man owned by Israel vs. a lying Marxist hypocrite. Yes America, this is where we're at. Man, the CFR bankers that run both parties sure are good at this.

Behind paywall but the gist is JPM wants to remove the "stigma" from using the discount window. https://www.wsj.com/articles/jpmorgan-wont-shun-the-feds-discount-window-anymore-11582662187 It strikes me as JPM trying to soften up markets on behalf of troubled banks that will be using the discount window soon. The history there is that banks going to the discount window were viewed as likely to fail (Lehman, Bear) and are further punished by shorts. Does this indicate failing banks soon and a genuine market crash has started?

Indeed they did, though NASDAQ and S&P haven't been allowed to drop into the red for long. It really is surreal seeing a 35pt jump off zero because it drives home how easily they can control the markets when they want, in either direction.

They're all socialist conmen and conwomen. When will people truly wake up and realize that the upper echelon of corporate government is little more than an organized crime racket, where the labor of the average people is pooled together and stolen by that upper echelon? I mean come on, coronavirus hits and the first thing out of the upper echelon is WE NEED MORE MONEY! As if the trillions already allocated just aren't quite enough.

PPT is on the case today, probably to hold it in the green for Donald's presser at 6pm. The Dow bounced hard as soon as it went red again today with an instant 35pt jump back into the green and hasn't looked back since. You don't see literal 35pt jumps off 0 unless the PPT is running.

It wasn't Fidelity, actually, but having said that it's common knowledge that brokerages can and do take the other sides of customer's trades. It would be naive to think they can't/won't game their platforms accordingly.

Most people voluntarily give up their constitutional rights via entering voluntary contracts with the State, such as asking for a driver's license. So no, a State can't lawfully violate your rights but a State can legally get you to give up your rights, therefore it is not violating your rights if it does something that is contrary to the Constitution. Stop entering their voluntary contracts if you want to be protected by inherent rights.

Happened again today to Fidelity customers. Goes to show that it doesn't matter how well you play the markets, they can just shut the website off and you're stuck watching your portfolio disappear on CNBC while the insiders get all of their sell orders entered lickety-split. Today I tried to place a few tiny puts and every time I entered an order, the bid/ask spread magically changed to be just out of the reach of my order. Oops, sorry please try again but this time raise your bid a little more, won't you? Which of course then pushed the spread up even further. I'm almost convinced it was my own brokerage trying to get me to overpay for the puts so it could take the other side. I quit trying since I'm not stupid.

No one with an IQ above room temperature really thinks Hillary will be a candidate in 2020. But it does work great to continue to herd Dems into Bernie's camp under the "they're going to screw him again" narrative.

We have some overlap with Bernie also but does that mean we should vote for Bernie? Overlap is all fine and dandy up to a point but the blind worship of Trump that goes on by some here is just as bad as blind hatred. Amash stood up for his belief in the Constitution and also calls Trump out on his bs, which the Trumpers NEVER, EVER do to the orange Jesus. Seeing how Amash pulled in a quarterly campaign donations record in Q4, utterly destroying the narrative that he's as good as ousted, many people of all stripes agree with him, too.

We should fix that. He must be able to exercise his role as The Decider. I'd be inclined to chalk up the late or non-payment as Donald just doing what Donald is known for throughout the construction business but there must be a good reason for paying up when the UN otherwise would have gone bankrupt, according to your link. My friend asked for a source again. He trusted your links until that WTO link raised credibility questions. I told him it must have been an honest mistake but you know how people are sometimes

I know, right? It's ridiculous. How is one man supposed to fix all this when he's held back by dumb stuff like separation of powers? Whew, that was close. The UN almost ran out of money. But then, thankfully, we paid up, kept the lights on and put them back in the black. http://www.xinhuanet.com/english/2019-12/03/c_138601243.htm My friend says thanks but then asks why is the WTO website still functional and it's still holding meetings scheduled out to November and they're also filling new job positions, according to their website? He says he's heard of something called "fake news" and wondered if your link wasn't an example of it. Accidentally posted, of course.

He's running for re-election as an Independent, so he needs some D votes too. Not rocket science to see why he's talking about equal rights, though I don't understand why people think government discrimination is ok in the first place. Any way, it's election season, lighten up. (Or does Trump get to be the only person running for federal office that panders to voting blocks while campaigning and then doesn't act on it? When he does it, it's 4D chess, right?) There's something really wrong if you still call yourself a libertarian but want to throw Justin Amash under the bus in favor of Donald Trump, of all people, who has nothing whatsoever in common with libertarians and never has.
