From listening to the voice vote, it sounded like there were 2 other representatives who voted "Nay," too, Rep. Amash being another one, presumably.

Rep. Massie is asking all of us to continue supporting him by the end of tonight. According to his text message, he only needs $850 to reach his goal. If you can, then please donate to his campaign here. Let's help defend him from "the Swamp" in D.C., especially now that Trump and Pelosi are sending their "Swamp Things" after him for standing up for the Constitution!

Yes. Do we need to contact Trevor Lyman or anyone else with experience doing "Moneybombs"? Maybe even our very own GunnyFreedom can help?

JoshLowry and Bryan With Rep. Massie's reelection campaign coming up next year, is there any way we can start our own campaign to fund his, by means of the famous "Moneybomb" strategy, used for Dr. Ron Paul and Sen. Paul in years past? From several of his interviews recently, Rep. Massie understands that his next election cycle will be rough, after he stood up against the cheap protocols in the House to pass the CARES Act. I think we need to reward him on a grassroots level, if for nothing else, than his faithfulness to limited government by means of the U.S. Constitution, against the domestic enemies within the House, itself.

That's really not the point. The real concern is the arbitrary designation by the States to label abortion clinics as engaging in "essential operations," while deeming worship services at local churches as "non-essential operations." The assumption from the States is that killing unborn babies is more important than the corporate gathering of Christians in worship.

With the recent passage of the largest spending bill in U.S. history (through a voice vote, not a recorded one, to protect our "representatives" in the House) as well as all of the arbitrary designations of "essential" and "non-essential" operations by our state governments, I'm becoming more and more convinced that this Coronavirus pandemic is just a sleight of hand trick to hide what the federal and state governments have been wanting to do for a long time. I'm so reminded of this line from one of my favorite films, The Prestige (2006), where it states: I don't want to belittle the illnesses and deaths which have happened because of COVID-19, but I'm pretty sure our state and federal governments have another trick up their sleeves, besides their usual one of making money appear out of thin air.

People like Beck expose themselves on the weakness of their conservatism. They're in favor of big government and suspension of the Constitution when Republicans control the Executive Branch, but when Democrats are in control, then they're small government, Constitutionalists.

Then Beck tries to justify not fighting back with his weak appeal to emotion, saying, "But we want to keep people like you in Congress, Rep. Massie." How does Beck think people like Rep. Massie were elected to Congress, in the first place? By the electorate fighting back against corruption in Congress through electing principled statesmen, such as Thomas Massie!

Exactly. And you know why? Because a "Republican" is in the White House. It's not expedient to act conservative and do conservative things during those times, but as soon as a Democrat sits in the Oval Office, then, all of a sudden, it's time to hit the streets with the Constitution in our hands.

Rep. Massie, basically, just talked about why he did what he did and acknowledged that it has hurt him politically. I think from this, we need to organize a major "Moneybomb" for Rep. Massie because, rest assured, the Republicans will be using all sorts of dirty tricks to get him unseated, even if it means supporting a Democrat.

I think De Blasio included mosques, by implication, although he doesn't say "churches" nor "synagogues" in that video. He mentioned worship services, which can include mosques. But wouldn't that cause an uproar if New Yorkers saw Muslims attending mosque services, but the local authorities allowed it happen!

You're "preaching to the choir" there, my brother. I'm not worried at all because I know Who's reigning on high. I'm very interested to see what our Christian brothers and sisters in NYC are going to do to challenge De Blasio's decree about this. Hopefully, it can move the Church towards mobilizing against political tyranny, if by nothing else, attending worship against "Caesar's" decree.

Not only will he force church officers to halt their service, but if they don't comply, then they will be fined and have their buildings shut down permanently. Whatever happened to "separation of Church and State"? Oh, that's right. Coronavirus. That's their excuse for seizing power over everything. 1244339404753289216

I understand that, but I wish Cavuto would've asked some follow-up questions, like, "Congressman Massie, why is it that your colleagues have such a hard time obeying the Constitution," or "What are the planks of the Republican Party that you believe makes you the most consistent Republican in D.C.?" Cavuto gave the impression that Rep. Massie was in serious error for calling a quorum, as if he dared to put other people's health at risk, instead of acknowledging that he understood why Rep. Massie did it. At least Cavuto didn't cut him off. I'll give him that.

That act is the epitome of Nancy Pelosi's philosophy that "we have to pass the bill to understand what's in it."

Rep. Massie did great, as expected. What I hated about that interview is whenever Rep. Massie would give a moral, logical reason for the steps his took, even appealing to the Constitution, Cavuto would ignore that by asking him some emotion-driven question about health concerns, which doesn't excuse Congress from its civil duty to work through this "crisis" that they've deemed is so dire as to force quick resolution by a bill. These people just don't get it, but they'll be the first ones to complain and point fingers once the bill fails as it works its way through the economy.

In Title IX - "House of Representatives" (Page 781) of the CARES Act, it reads: Let's do some math here. The base salary for a representative is $174,000/year. There are 435 members of the House. $25,000,000 divided by 435 is $57,471.26. That means every representative has a pay increase which brings their base salary to $231,471.26, at least, until September 30th of next year. So, this "emergency relief bill" was supposed to be for those who needed, and yet, the House snuck in a pay increase for themselves. Is it no wonder they didn't want to have recorded votes for this bill and rather do it by voice vote? This bill stinks already.

The Left has never cared about all women; they've only cared about certain women. That much was evident during this 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary race. Once all of the female candidates had dropped out, except Tulsi Gabbard, there was no one from their party who jumped to support her campaign. You would think Tulsi would've been the perfect person for Democrats to get behind: she was non-Christian, non-White, and most importantly, non-male. But, no, the Left couldn't support her, ultimately. Why? Oh, because she wasn't a war-hawk; she criticized regime-change wars, and she advocated diplomacy with Assad. And Democrats couldn't have anything to do with that, whether she was a woman or not. So, it doesn't surprise me that the Left would be selective in their crusades for #MeToo. The only #MeToo they care about is those who agree with their globalist, cronyist agenda.

I am convinced that those two problems (one on a collective level, and the other on an individual level) are the main reasons why an economy fails, and it causes people to run to the central government for aid.

Those guys are simply an abomination. They would rather support a candidate who supports Israel than someone who stands up for the U.S. Constitution.

Regarding the whole "only the radical libertarians" will enter the gate, a similar thing was brought up at Eric Peters Autos:

"David" is my username. Moleman is coming close to arguing the position that only libertarians are Christians.

    Just an FYI:

    1. My answer to my own poll question is probably "yes", though its an exceedingly reluctant "yes."

    2. The more reluctant someone is, the less quick I'm going to be to judge them. You, frankly, are not the type of person I was considering when I made my OP, even if you techncially qualify. You're against legal torture and you agree that its almost always wrong. There are a lot of people who support legal torture and who think at least some of what was in the Senate Report was morally permissible (At least at my school there are, admittedly, my school is pretty "conservative"). I much more had in mind the neoconservative who says "torture is always justified against terrorists if there's a chance to save even one life" than I am a generally peaceful person that reluctantly says they could justify torturing someone if it meant saving their family, or something like that.

OK, so in that situation you're almost dealing with Hiroshima and Nagisaki again (not as it actually occured, but what most people think of it as.) Fair enough...

Still distressing.... I'm not sure what that says of those people who actually think these were all ticking time bomb situations.

Do you think it would ever be moral to let someone die of hypothermia in a cold cell? Do you ever think it would ever be moral to break someone's legs and force them to stand for hours or days? Do you ever think it would be moral to consecutively waterboard someone 183 times?

Is your only issue with this the potential for abuse, or do you understand that there is something deeply immoral about this?

There's something sickening and inhumane about about what was described in the CIA report. Killing someone in self-defense when they are trying to shoot you isn't comparable to that.
  7. View Conversation
Sorta, but there are plenty of people here who think it should be legal. So, where's the line where the form of torture becomes inhumane no matter what?
