Once again, the media is trying to persuade Sen. Paul to vote for Graham-Cassidy's Obamacare bill, but all he does is put Lindsey Graham in his place. Way to hold your ground, Rand!

I felt like Cruz was a pretty strong liberty candidate back in 2013 or so, back when the liberty movement was more popular. Now that the liberty movement has become less popular, it seems like Cruz has become much worse from a liberty perspective.

Well right now a lot of it is people that got kicked off Twitter. They need some more high-profile mainstream folks.

This is starting to look more and more like criminal negligence. The security vulnerability that was exploited was patched in March by Apache but not applied by Equifax. https://threatpost.com/equifax-confirms-march-struts-vulnerability-behind-breach/127975/

They voted to table Rand's amendment 61-36. The only Republicans who voted with Rand were Lee and Heller. All of the other Republicans support endless war, and therefore support big government and massive debt. Cruz is worthless. Here is the roll call vote. https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=115&session=1&vote=00195

Just created this one from my new domain asshole. And I've been here since January of 2008, so if you want to read my post history it's all here. Anyway I've heard about PGP for years but only got interested in internet privacy in the past few months. I never took it seriously until a friend gave a speech on it.

I use PGP and encourage everyone else to do so as well. Beyond the setup, it's a breeze to use. The more people who use encrypted email, the less encrypted traffic stands out. If anyone needs help setting it up, I'll be glad to help or if you just want to test out your encryption shoot me an e-mail. Have you tried Firefox lately? The last 3 or 4 builds they have been working on performance and I believe more improvement is coming in October.

Imo, you need a VPN first and foremost. If you don't have a large budget I'll recommend Private Internet Access. You can buy a year subscription for $40. For browser I use Firefox. Find out how to edit the privacy settings in about:config. For an email client I would use Thunderbird and encrypt with PGP. Your contacts are also going to need pgp if you plan on having secure email. What operating system do you use and do you use a smartphone as well? If you use instant messaging a lot I would recommend encrypting that as well. You can go pretty deep, it just depends on how much privacy you need.

It just shows the state of the media in this country that you have to turn to Alt-right blogs to find any information on what happened to Heather Heyer or even who she is. By the way Brad Griffin was actually at Charlottesville with his wife. I was right there with them when we got forced out of the park by the state police.

I've been using email from my ISP but I think I may just break down and pay for email from a privacy-focused company. POP3 is how I usually receive my email. I'm thinking about using my own domain anyway. Now I would really like to run an email server from my house like Hillary Clinton but I just don't think I have enough bandwidth.

https://www.thecut.com/2017/08/what-heather-heyer-knew.html This article claims she was wearing a black shirt and pants and had braided hair. just the lack of photos of her makes me think that most of them are not flattering. I can't imagine the media not posting her pictures everywhere if it would have fit their agenda.

How the hell are they gonna prove 2nd degree murder if she died of a heart attack? Or even manslaughter? I've seen a video of someone performing chest compressions on her. It's entirely possible that if she was unconscious and not already in cardiac arrest, that the chest compressions could have triggered the heart attack.

She was very obese. She is wearing black and I haven't seen any footage of her actually getting struck by the car, though I think someone says she has a leg injury in one video.

Checkmate. This is a "screw you" to the Party leadership, perhaps for holding up his agenda. Many of the Republicans are on record condemning DACA. Now Trump has put passing new legislation on their shoulders. If they pass it people will be able to run to their right on immigration in the primaries. In the meantime, the media will hound them until they pass a bill. They were probably planning on just calling out Trump for ending DACA and getting away with not having to pass anything. It's hilarious.

Regarding the whole "only the radical libertarians" will enter the gate, a similar thing was brought up at Eric Peters Autos:

"David" is my username. Moleman is coming close to arguing the position that only libertarians are Christians.

    Just an FYI:

    1. My answer to my own poll question is probably "yes", though its an exceedingly reluctant "yes."

    2. The more reluctant someone is, the less quick I'm going to be to judge them. You, frankly, are not the type of person I was considering when I made my OP, even if you techncially qualify. You're against legal torture and you agree that its almost always wrong. There are a lot of people who support legal torture and who think at least some of what was in the Senate Report was morally permissible (At least at my school there are, admittedly, my school is pretty "conservative"). I much more had in mind the neoconservative who says "torture is always justified against terrorists if there's a chance to save even one life" than I am a generally peaceful person that reluctantly says they could justify torturing someone if it meant saving their family, or something like that.

OK, so in that situation you're almost dealing with Hiroshima and Nagisaki again (not as it actually occured, but what most people think of it as.) Fair enough...

Still distressing.... I'm not sure what that says of those people who actually think these were all ticking time bomb situations.

Do you think it would ever be moral to let someone die of hypothermia in a cold cell? Do you ever think it would ever be moral to break someone's legs and force them to stand for hours or days? Do you ever think it would be moral to consecutively waterboard someone 183 times?

Is your only issue with this the potential for abuse, or do you understand that there is something deeply immoral about this?

There's something sickening and inhumane about about what was described in the CIA report. Killing someone in self-defense when they are trying to shoot you isn't comparable to that.
  7. View Conversation
Sorta, but there are plenty of people here who think it should be legal. So, where's the line where the form of torture becomes inhumane no matter what?
  8. View Conversation
TC, I apologize for the neg rep. I was in a really bad mood today, both from seeing the CIA report and seeing people here at school defend it. I took it out on you. I deserved the neg rep you threw back. Sorry...
