Like the "matching funds" thing, RFK Jr. has no reason to care about the LP's ballot access for future elections. He only cares about their present ballot access - which they were already able to achieve without him. RFK Jr. would need the LP for ballot access. There's no other reason for him to be interested in them. The LP would not need RFK Jr. for ballot access. Their interest in him would be for other reasons (such as the "matching funds" thing, or down-ballot "coattails", or wider attention to the party and more exposure for their other candidates, or whatever).

It's also well past time for Republicans who actually give a damn about liberty (instead of just libertarian-ish lip service) to start supporting Libertarian nominees when their own party's candidates suck. (I'm not gonna hold my breath on that happening, though ...)

I agree. In fact, it's well past time the Republicans started running more pro-liberty nominees. (Kinda makes one wonder why they hell they weren't already doing that ... hmmmm ...)

I didn't say anything at all about the "matching funds" angle, one way or the other. I was addressing the "ballot access" part of your claim that " could get them over the hump for matching funds and ballot access". The LP doesn't need RFK Jr. for ballot access - just the opposite: he would need them. Getting on the ballot in all 50 states as an independent would be extremely difficult and expensive, and as the OP article pointed out, the LP is far better at it than any of the other alternatives. In fact, that's really the only reason he has for considering seeking the LP nomination in the first place (it certainly isn't due to ideological affinity). I'm pretty sure he doesn't really give a damn about whether it might result in the LP getting matching funds for future campaigns. Why would he? As far as the "matching funds" thing goes, its just another one of those drops the LP might be able to squeeze out of the RFK Jr. lemon:

We must shift the conversation away from climate hysteria and toward human flourishing. So what does a pro-human energy program look like?

President Franklin Roosevelt came to power during this time and used the Great Depression as a justification to mount a progressive coup against the political traditions of America. It is with this same ambition that his successors in the Democrat Party have sought to leverage concerns about global warming and fossil fuels to wipe out what remains of the American market economy.

Titled The Population Bomb, the book warned that increasing birth rates—helped by the abundance of energy—would become a species-level crisis. Too many people would mean too little food, water, and land. Chaos would erupt.

Why Almost Everyone Who Talks about Energy Is Wrong https://odysee.com/@mises:1/why-almost-everyone-who-talks-about%3A1 {Mises Media | 01 August 2023} @mises:1/why-almost-everyone-who-talks-about%3A1 Far too often, the discussion over “energy” begins with a variety of assumptions that go unchallenged. The first is that energy policy should first and foremost be about environmental impact. The second is that traditional fossil fuels are obviously bad for the environment. This leads to the third, that society must obviously change its energy usage to stop an environmental disaster from happening. These assumptions are so ingrained in the conversation that even opponents of green policies often base their arguments on them. Team blue may say that we need more taxes and regulations to force a change in energy use. Team red may argue that only by getting the government out of the way will business innovate its way out of fossil fuels.

In spite of coming into public view under the shadow of the atomic bomb, significant global investments in nuclear power plants were made from the mid-1960s up until the early 2000s. Unfortunately, tragedies such as the Chornobyl meltdown caused by Soviet incompetence and the fallout from the tsunami-damaged Fukushima power plant in 2011 led governments to close existing nuclear reactors and foreclosed the building of new ones.

Powerful individuals around the globe are advocating for a radical change in our energy consumption, and they claim that what are branded as “green” or “renewable” energy sources can replace fossil fuels. But these so-called alternative energy sources really are not alternatives at all.

Human energy use did not begin with industrialization.

Most from the time they wake up to when they go to bed. It is such a part of daily life that it is easy to take for granted. But it’s important to understand that this is a very modern phenomenon. Not that long ago, even the wealthiest kings could not have imagined the energy the working class has at its disposal today.

Sure, okay. Why not? RFK Jr. is absolutely not a libertarian of any kind - but the LP has run progressive Republicans on their POTUS/VP ticket, so why not a progressive Democrat? There seem to be plenty of disaffected righties, lefties, and indies who might be infatuated with the man enough to vote for him as the LP candidate (especially if Biden & Trump are the D & R nominees) - maybe even enough to result in some down-ballot spillover (i.e., "coattails") for real libertarians. In fact, that's pretty much the only reason I can see for supporting such a move (or, at least, not opposing it as vehemently as one otherwise might). Just as a matter of practical politics, if it happens, the LP should squeeze it for every drop they can get from it. IOW: If RFK Jr. decides (and successfully manages) to "use" the LP like this, then the LP should "use" him right back. RFK Jr. would not be the one getting the LP "over the hump" on ballot access.

Did JWST find a MARKER OF LIFE in an exoplanet atmosphere? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F360SGAlI8Y {Dr. Becky | 21 September 2023} There’s been a big claim of a marker of life, known as a biosignature, found using JWST in the atmosphere of an exoplanet known as K2-18b. The data also confirmed this planet was a “Hycean” world, a planet with a liquid water ocean surrounded by a hydrogen dominated atmosphere. The biosignature that’s claimed to have been found is dimethyl sulphide, a molecule that on Earth is mostly produced by phytoplankton in the ocean. But how strong actually is the evidence for this claimed detection of dimethyl sulphide? Madhusudhan et al (2023; JWST observations of K2-18b) - https://arxiv.org/pdf/2309.05566.pdf Bell et al.
