According to an email sent to members of the convention rules committee within that was obtained by CNN, the committee will proceed with a previously scheduled meeting on Friday to deliberate – and begin to set in motion – the steps and timeline for virtually nominating Biden.

Of course. But that takes nothing from my point. Winning a statewide race means, by definition, winning over the average voter. Kentucky isn't so red that a republican can't lose statewide. (For example Kentucky has a Democratic governor). Campaign structural issues are fixable and have nothing to do with the candidate's own ability to connect with voters. It's a matter of hiring the right people and letting them run it. Looking at this years GOP field, Nikki Haley simply got the "we don't want Trump" vote and won't be a factor in 2028. I'm not sure how much traction Desantis will get in 2028 on social "DEI" issues. Vivek won't be a factor because, let's face it, a significant portion of the GOP are like Laura Ingram and into (white) identity politics. I'm pretty sure Rand can hold his own against any of them.

Hmmm...sulfur is related to acid rain. But the polar bear problem is (supposedly) related to the carbon footprint. So burning more low sulfur fuel to go the same distance would seem to exacerbate the supposed problem. Again great points to be made at a Republican convention that the Teamster's president didn't make. You and others are arguing why the small government message should be palatable to blue collar workers. I'm pointing out that this guy brought a big government message to the RNC. To put it in perspective it would be like Cornel West talking to the RNC about the benefits of government enforced affirmative action and someone else saying "Great outreach. There are all sorts of other reasons (completely unrelated to what Cornel West said) why black people should vote republican!"

That it 100% tangential to the point that I'm making. I'm talking about the speech that was given at the freaking RNC. And, technically Biden got big oil to turn up the tap making 2023 the record year for U.S. oil production ever. (A fact Biden doesn't talk about much because it goes against his whole "carbon footprint" argument). But I get it. Marxist language doesn't matter anymore as long as its said in support of the guy some of us are supporting at the moment.

Biden won’t drop out, campaign insists in a new memo https://www.cnbc.com/2024/07/19/biden-wont-drop-out-campaign-insists-in-new-memo-.html {Josephine Rozzelle | 19 July 2024 President Joe Biden will remain at the top of the Democratic ticket, his campaign insists in a new memo obtained by NBC News. The memo from the campaign’s battleground states director Dan Kanninen stresses that while lawmakers increasingly call on the president to step down, Biden still has the support of voters. But Kanninen acknowledged that many polls show Biden trailing Trump, writing, “I will not sugar coat the state of the race: we have our work cut out for us to win this November.” President Joe Biden’s campaign insisted Friday that he will remain at the top of the Democratic ticket, stressing in a new memo that Biden still has the support of voters, even as a growing number of Democratic lawmakers call on him to drop out.

I 100% disagree with "Rand is just a bad campaigner" argument. You don't get re-elected to the U.S. Senate if you can't connect with average voters. It's not like congress where you just have to win a district. Rand lost in 2016 to Trump because the Republican electorate was angry and Trump was the best at playing off that anger. There is nobody better than Trump at anger politics. If you watch the UFC, Jon Jones made former UFC champion Daniel Cormier look like he didn't even belong in the ring and DC was literally crying at the end of the fight. That doesn't mean he couldn't fight. No matter what happens this year, Donald Trump will not be running in 2028. (Thank God!) Can Rand Paul hold his own with the average GOP voter against a Nikki Haley or a Ron DeSantis? I think so. But that's the only fair metric to look at. Throw the 2016 presidential campaign into the garbage bin of history where it belongs. It's got no bearing on anything that happens going forward.

Long video but great information. I wonder if anyone will pay attention? TLDR; JD Vance is connected to Peter Thiel who is behind the CIA funded Palantir "pre crime" software which the deep state uses to decide who is on the terror watch list.

Maybe. But I'm going by he what he actually said. (Labor laws). Besides, the Teamsters mostly cover trucking and that is not negatively affected by imports the way the UAW is.

Make sure you post your donation against Rand so I can counter balance it with a donation for him. He and Massie were the lone voices of reason during the COVID scamdemic. And term limiting your own best senators and congressmen when the other side isn't doing that serves absolutely no purpose. Ron Paul probably wasn't invited. I'm sure he could have been in the crowd but so freaking what? Massie did a good job moderating the alternative presidential debate. As far as 2028 is concerned, who knows what America will look like by then? The economy stands a good chance of imploding regardless of what the next president, Trump or Biden, does. If Trump is at the helm a Republican won't win again for a generation. If Biden is at the helm they'll just blame his dementia and the dems will recover after a couple of cycles.

Invisible Man and RJB's race pivot aside, I didn't see a response to Matt's actual point. The head of the Teamster's union didn't say "Let's help the working man by doing away with the income tax." He didn't say "Let's help the working man by cutting property taxes." He didn't say 'Let's help the working man by protecting his right to natural gas stoves." He said "Let's help the working man....by new labor laws." Ummmm....okay. If he had said those same words at the DNC convention some of the same people praising this "outreach to working people" would be crying foul. So.....what exactly are the principles you're fighting for? I am sure Jimmy Dore (personally avowed socialist) loved the Teamsters boss's speech. He's been very bullish on Trump recently while still pushing for "Medicare For All." I love Jimmy Dore for his straight up honesty while at the same time disagreeing with his socialist positions. But okay. Socialism per se is no longer verboten. Got it.

In this case the vice was already illegal. It's just become difficult to enforce due to technological changes and social trends. When I was a child, requiring the porno mags at the grocery store to be shrink wrapped would not have been expensive and the only "liberty" that would have impinged on is the liberty of an adult to "look before you buy." When I was old enough to go to an adult bookstore I was disappointed to find most of the magazines were shrink wrapped not to protect children (they couldn't come in anyway) but to protect profits which means the grocery stores could have done that all along and perhaps made more money. Requiring phones to have easy to set up parental controls wouldn't be expensive. For the life of me I don't know why this already isn't a thing. Then again if it's profit uber alles, Google might not want parents blocking apps from their kids. Remember the V-chip? Did you know that's still a thing? But it's pretty irrelevant because who still watches network television? Certainly not young people. And phones have made parental controls on TVs pretty much irrelevant.

I agree. Of course one can use a VPN to make their computer look like you're surfing from Thailand if you want. But that's extra step the average 12 year old would have to jump through. From a free market perspective this is probably the only phone parents should get their kids. https://www.thelightphone.com/lightii Anti Federalist this might be an acceptable solution for a parent that doesn't want his child sucked into the matrix but would still like him or her to have a phone for emergencies.

Thanks! Here's my response. http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?567363-Trump-picks-Ohio-senator-J-D-Vance-as-VP-candidate&p=7242793&viewfull=1#post7242793 I'm more concerned about JD Vance's connection to Peter Thiel. I think Peter Thiel with his CIA funded Palantir data mining software is at least as great of a threat to freedom as anything Bill Gates is doing. And yes I know Peter donated to Ron Paul in 2012.

As a dad who had to co-parent after a divorce I can see the utility of minors having cell phones but I believe they should be "dumb" flip phones. It's good to have multiple ways to reach your kids to find out that the soccer game has been cancelled or moved to a different field or whatever. Also, on a whim, I tried to find the "parental controls" on my Motorola Android phone and found out their weren't any. There are "mindfulness" controls where I can set how long to be on any app before getting a warning but that's it. Ideally everything would happen without government intervention. Parents should know that giving their kids puberty blockers and/or cross sex hormones is a bad idea. But we've got some parents who are just stupid and other parents who are bullied by the "Do you want a live son or dead daughter" blackmail from unscrupulous medical professionals. I don't have all of the answers, just a lot of questions.
