The mind is the most important place. It is the first place, especially in a world as screwed up as it now happens to be. Point taken.

I understand that. My point was that the players are whining about the tax on something the importance of which is just this side of zero. It appears all they can do it whine about the nasty taxes but will not suck it up like cowboys and deny that den of iniquity its revenue stream by refusing to play. They behave as despicable addicts and on that account I have no sympathy for them. Yeah, the überdouches in Chicago have no authority to do what they have done and to that point players' complaints are valid. But they can do something about it, yet apparently aren't doing it because it would seem their games are more important than the fact that they're being put over the wood. Once again, corruption of the affluent wins out over doing what is right. FAIL.

Doc, you cannot be serious. Until atoms were discovered, are you saying they did not exist? Our failure to discover X, it follows not that X doesn't exist. OK, but I will point out that whatever your point was, you did not make it clearly. Then again, I'm not very bright, so perhaps it's all just me.

I'm so clueless on those fronts, I have no idea who that is. All taxes are immoral. Sadly, in this überscrewed world, it seems that at least some of them are necessary if a people is to defend itself against the predations of other populations. Then again, there's nothing to say that "government" is somehow better at managing national defense. I dunno... this crap all makes my head hurt anymore, and it's been hurting a lot lately, what with my new bad habit of elevated blood pressure. Then there's my other daughter who's decided to move to Barcelona to be near her sister and two niece/nephews.

I am afraid this is a gross non sequitur, similar to: Slow down thar, cowboy... your fingers are getting ahead of your reason. Results MAY be an end... I'd have to think about that more than I wish to at the moment. Theory may be an element of the means, but there's more to it. Action and active defense of one's claims are where the rubber meets the road. Conceptual frameworks are important, but mean nothing without the material capacity and a sufficient bent to put it into effective action.

Cry me a river. For one thing, who gives a poo about stupid ass video games? Yeah, they can be fun, but so what? There is nothing important in them. Not a whit. So either stop playing if the taxes are so offensive, or STFU and go on like the junkies most of those people are. I see little difference in principle between video addicts and the crack ho' who puts penises of questionable provenance into their mouths for token sums. If you have no self-respect, that's fine. Just don't try to make it the John's fault. Nobody's got a gun to your head. Humans.

OK, I've started and immediately came to the old Sam Adams quote: I'm on page one and it may take me 41.3 years to finish, as I read slowly, but I thought I would point out for the sake of conversation and perhaps some clarity that an equally true version of that quote could go like this: The latter is precisely what Theye and their useful idiots have been doing. Lately, BLM and Antifa come to mind, along with the rest of the "leftist" progressive weaklings who have been praying to the god of tyranny their entire lives. They may be despicable for their cowardice, ignorance, and blind avarice, but we must give credit even unto such creatures when they show virtue, however little and misapplied it may be: they get out there and ACT. They act abhorrently, but they act, which is a whole lot more than most of the rest of us do. And that is why they stand a good chance of leading those for whom they serve as useful idiots to eventual victory over the vast remainder. It's a sad thought, but there you have it. Those who would lord over you are winning in a big way as the rest of us sit idly, moaning about it while doing nothing of substance to stop it.

Well well... another Hungarian ushering humanity yet one more step toward the abyss. How surprising. Teller and Szilard brought us the hydrogen bomb... Bolyai, non-euclidean geometry... Now this. I'd laugh at the irony that the things we thought would save us, actually accounted for our extinction. It'd serve us right I suppose. Humans.

I've been under lots of stress for a very long time. Decades. My so-called "career" was filled with it. Try being buck-stops-here responsible for $500 million of someone else's money and you will come to know what soft stress is all about. Lately, the stresses of having zero market value have made themselves felt, particularly in the context of feeling pretty guilty even eating the food my good wife's diligent and tiring labor provide me. People tell me to relax. Uh huh. Step into my shoes and then tell me. On top of it all, I've been modifying the house. As some of you know, between 2012 and 2015 I excavated under half of the structure and put in a basement. Since two years ago, I began excavating behind the house for the sake of a kitchen for the boss, who loves cooking and baking, and a greenhouse by which to keep ourselves in fresh produce year-round. After two years spent removing about 800 yards of evil WV red shale clay by hand with nothing more than a shovel, wheelbarrow, my as yet strong back, and a determination that sprang from a place I cannot name, I was ready to pour the 1500 square-foot floor. Stress is high, mind you, as I worry that I will not be able to find anyone who will actually show up as promised to do the work of pouring and finishing.

We have apples, cherries, walnuts, apricots, nectarines, peaches, pears, plums, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, jostaberries, and miscellaneous others. We have one fruit-bearing pear. The rest are years off as pear do not bear fruit until the are about 18 years old. Most of the rest are also maturing, some of them having had setbacks due to the escape of the goats who subsequently made a beeline for the orchard and raped the pants off some of the stock. That aside, we are in decent shape.

People have been going on about this for a few decades now, and it's still not happened, and may never. If you understand the current system of currency, it becomes clear that we can go on like this for centuries and beyond. Gone far enough, the "dollar" gives way to the kilodollar, to the megadollar, to the gigadollar... to the yottadollar, to the... This can be sustained indefinitely, make no mistake about it. There is absolutely NOTHING in principle that prevents it from being so. That doesn't mean it will not fall for some particular reason, but only that the reason in not an inherent limiter of the lifecycle.

I don't care if it was said by Jesus, hopping up and down with his hair on fire. I respect Dr Paul much. That doesn't mean I fall on my face, wailing "all HAIL!" every time his name is mentioned. I reserve that for Peter Ross. Look him up. Pity's sake man, use your imagination... those men would likely cross unarmed, pieemeal, only to be rearmed on OUR side of the border. THINK, then type. Weaponry could be easily arranged on the US side. The weapons are not the primary concern, but rather the TRAINING and objectives pursuant to which said training has been undertaken.

OK, so quoting LA Time is even less credible that NY Times, much less The Enquirer, so you lose point on that bit. There are valid reasons for defending a border. Those who cannot or do not acknowledge this are either bereft of sufficient intellect or have unpublished agenda items. Rumor has it there are 100K Chinese troops camped in the mountains of MX. I have no idea whether this is true, but if we assume so for entertainment purposes, were tens of thousands of Chinese to begin pouring across the MX border, would you assert that we should simply allow them to pass, unchallenged? Serious question to which I would like an actual answer and not some deflection. Give it a whirl.

There is a fundamental difference between defense of the realm and police state, just as there is one between killing in self defense and murder. The acts are superficially indistinguishable, one from the other. But context is king. I shoot the ghost from a man entering my home, uninvited, at 2 AM and I am golden. I shoot the ghost from a man, take his wallet, car keys, and drive off with his Aston Martin, chances are I'm a murderer. I believe a "proportional response" was called for, not "more police state". You do this sort of strawman-ish thing a lot, leaving me wondering what is the deal. The "problem" is plenty bad, but I don't think it is nearly what you seem to think it is.

Your point, atop your histrionic head notwithstanding, is taken. Were the world different, I'd be on board. It's not. Welfare states attract vermin. Powerful, wealthy lands in conflict with other nations, rightly or otherwise, are vulnerable through borders. If one is serious about defense against malefactors coming across those borders, then he must control them. These are just two of the shitty realities of a world infested with insane people. Half the world would like to eat us. Maybe we deserve that sentiment, maybe not. We either defend against those who would damage us or we lay down. That is the positive reality we face. Which would you rather?

I doubt I'd shoot them, but I might break body parts that, up to that point, they didn't know they had. People talk a big game about respect, but they play like a spastic colon. So far as I can tell, frightening few understand or even care about actual, full-monty respect for their fellow human beings. The talk makes them feel good... better; superior; righteous. The walk? Too much work. WAY too much.

I find it amazing to consider just how hopelessly corrupt a land we are, and have been for so very long a time when I read things like this. To think not only that some people would dare usurp the authority to remove those which are the most obvious prerogatives of free men, but also that we as a people would
