One of my favorites of LZ. And it's about a dog, no less. And some people say there's no God. FEH... PS: Bron-Y-Aur is the name of the cottage in which they'd holed up after their LZ II tour and where they wrote the don'gs on LZ II that were not covers.

The only Tolkien book I read was The Hobbit, and to be honest, it was a mite of a chore. I guess I'm just not into that sort of thing, which may be the case due to the less-than-positive associations I hold with it due to Tim Ward, a friend from high school who proved an extremely unreliable business partner. He was and perhaps remains a LOTR loon, which I don't care one way or another. But when I showed up at his place on a Friday, ostensibly to do some important work for the business, only to find 30+ people there, none of whom were associated with said business, drinking, burning spliffs, and huffing long blow lines, something inside me twigged in a big way and the business ended about 60 minutes later. The only other time I saw Tim after that was at dad's funeral. I really liked Mr. Ward. Tim, not so much anymore as I have an upper limit on how much irresponsibility I will tolerate in anyone, and he rocketed right past the line that night.

Killjoy. You COULD have lied and made my Thanksgiving happy happy joy joy. But no. You had to show me respect by telling the truth. Bastard. I suppose we can always hope that that Salwell douche, or whatever his demonic name is, gets his hands on a nuke or ten and lets the "Amerian people" have it... preferably Portland, San Fran, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, and NYC to start.

Yeah, one of their better efforts. Now, LZ III was and remains for me the best work they ever did, by a very wide margin. After the fourth album the went down the path of largely non-melodic output. It's OK, but much of it sounds the same to me, and I have a pretty good discriminatory. I agree Kashmir is great stuff, but it's a rarity - a real stand out, at least for me. They just seemed in a bit of a rut after the fourth release, though not nearly as badly as Pink Floyd after Meddle. Dark Side of the Moon always struck me as whiny, even though to this day the engineering stands as a turning point in the industry. The production values of that work was tops, just as Mountain's "Twin Peaks" was for live sound recordings. That version of Nantucket Sleighride is not only musically fabulous, which it is, the engineering stands to this day as a standard to which others have aspired. Another standard is the work done on VIVA! by Roxy Music, another fabulously engineered series of live performances. After Meddle, Floyd retreated into that "the world is fucked and I'm a victim" rut, the one exception being "Animals", where they lashed out with some refreshingly honest anger and emotional violence, only to scurry back into the dark with that hideous nonsense they titled "The Wall". And it was steeply downhill from there because that ego mania Roger Waters took over, rather than taking Prozac. :) That's my take, anyhow.

It seems the Brits become more despicable as a whole every day. But seriously folks, I am burning to see where, if anywhere, lies the breaking point for all this idiocy, whether it be be in UK, America, or anywhere else that these weak people and their apologists are being catered as if they were gods. My apparently outmoded sense of the rational tells me that there must be a breaking point where, once crossed, something cataclysmic will result in terms of human relations, whether we become as those depicted in "Idiocracy" and die off for want of a single properly functioning brain cell among the billions of us, or we go all Incredible Hulk on each other, culling the weak and stoopid either in response to the flakes getting cute ideas about revolutions, or we simply decide that's all we can stands, we can't stands no more.

I guess someone futzed with the filters because last week when I wrote "**** sapiens", it got nicked. What made me laugh was that my use of "gayfag" flew through the filters like poo through a goose.

I went to see Mott The Hoople in fall 1973. Opening for them was an unknown band named "Queen". It was their third performance in the USA, the first two being in Indiana, as I recall. The only Queen release I ever really loved was their first, eponymously titled. It is fantastic and everything they did thereafter paled, IMO. My probable three favorites:

Are we? If so, it says nothing good about our moral fiber... being so well armed as we are and all. It would appear convenience and the "sin" of crushing debt suits us just fine, despite our complaints.

If USA would give the Fed the heave-ho and execute all its officers, then return to minted gold currency, the dollar would remain supreme indefinitely. That, of course, will not happen

I find it amazing to consider just how hopelessly corrupt a land we are, and have been for so very long a time when I read things like this. To think not only that some people would dare usurp the authority to remove those which are the most obvious prerogatives of free men, but also that we as a people would
