Commentary at Mises: On Wednesday, the Republican controlled house voted to further federalize gun laws in this country. … it expands the ability of the Federal government to restrict Americans’ right to bear arms. the NRA supported merging the bill aimed at nationalizing concealed carry permits with another piece of legislation aimed at “fixing” the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS.) … unfortunately this bill is simply another example of the Federal government using its own failure to justify expanding its own power. After all, the “Fix NICS” bill doesn’t seek to punish the US Air Force for its failure to properly process paperwork. Instead, it provides $760 million in additional funding for the Department of Justice to establish new guidelines … can also be used “to ensure maximum coordination” between State government and Indian tribes with the NICS. While the idea of bolstering the already existing Federal gun registry may strike some as relatively benign, it’s important to understand how it has been used in the past.

Don’t ‘Fix NICS,’ Trash It: Republicans are joining with Democrats to bring up gun control in the form of supposed “NICS Fix” bills, H.R. 4434 and S. 2135. … anything short of repealing the National Instant Check System (NICS) is the wrong move, both practically and in principle. … Dr. John Lott has shown that, according to Department of Justice data, 95 percent of initial denials are “false positives.” This can happen when an honest citizen attempts to purchase a gun—his or her name can be erroneously matched with a criminal’s name, and the citizen is then denied a gun. … Even if NICS was a perfect system, it still does not prevent bad guys from getting guns by other means. …

Commentary from Mike Whitney: Thanks to the relentless arm-twisting of the Washington powerbrokers, the Russian Olympic team will not be allowed to compete in the 2018 Winter Games …Officially, this is being done to punish Russia for doping among athletes. In reality, the move was heavily lobbied for by the US and a series of allies, a push that was primarily about US-Russia tensions in recent years. — antiwar.com doping is nothing new in the world of sports … the United States has its share of skeletons in the closet too, as journalist Neil Clark points out ..: Wade Exum, the US Olympic Committee’s former Director of Drug Control, handed over more than 30,000 pages of documents to Sports Illustrated magazine and the Orange County Register, which he said showed that over 100 American athletes had failed drug tests between 1988-2000, but had still been allowed to compete. Carl Lewis, the US Olympian later admitted he had tested positive for banned substances before the 1988 Games in Seoul where he won Gold but claimed that ‘hundreds’ of fellow Americans had also escaped bans. “There were hundreds of people getting off,” Lewis said. “Everyone was treated the same.” But guess what? There was no McLaren style report and no blanket ban on US athletes.

Canada’s prime minister announced Canada is keeping its embassy in Tel Aviv … Since the United Nations Security Council has mandated that no unilateral changes can be made to the status of Jerusalem, the Security Council responded to the U.S. declaration by calling an emergency session December 8th. … What is unreported by NATO media is that following President Trump’s announcement the UN’s General Assembly on December 7th passed nine draft resolutions … Assistance to Palestine refugees, was adopted, 162 for and 1 (Israel) against … This resolution expresses extreme concern for Palestinian refugees under occupation and the urgent need for reconstruction of Gaza.

Really? That's the argument. And was it the so called "Israelis" that took Palestine forcibly or did they rely upon the "rest of the world" as in UK to do that for them? Who provided the weapons and the billions of dollars in foreign aid and the political cover for the systemic forcible taking of territory and peoples? Oh yeah, that's right, they relied on the "rest of the world" to provide that for them as in US/UK. But will the sword label the Israel "weak and cowardly" for relying on US/UK. The hypocrisy is strong with this one. And while sword rightly condemns US assistance in arming, funding and supporting ISIS, Al Qaeda Saudi dictatorship aggression in Yemen, funding revolution, where is the condemnation for supporting and aiding the Israeli government's aggression over the decades. US funding alone at $3 billion a year, plus training, military and intelligence cooperation, weapons supply, logistics, political cover, and more. But when the government of Israel relies on US/UK to tilt the scales of its violence , well then its the victims' fault for resisting in the methods they can, and simultaneously the victims are "weak and cowardly" because the don't have the outside superpower assistance that is provided to the Israeli government. Such mentality is inherently self-contradictory.

Israel Palestine has a right to exist. Israel Palestine can recognize whatever capital they want and the US should recognize what Israel Palestine says is their capital. Bulldozing, confiscating property, theft, raiding crops, poisoning livestock, shooting, kidnapping and shipping people to walled off concentration zones, and other violence is not okay. There should be no appeasement to the animals that surround Israel Palestine.

The councilwoman Cindy Bass says protective glass for employees is an "indignity" to customers. First, every customer has the right to choose for themselves whether to patronage any store. Shouldn't it be the customer's choice to decide what shops are "indignant" and choose not to shop there. Isn't it indignant for little Ms. Dictator to try to play Mr. Daddy to take away the a customer's right to choose for themselves what's "indignant" or not. Customers have no problem making the choices when there is Plexiglas in taxis, banks, government buildings, etc. If you don't like it , don't go to the store. Little tyrant Cindy Bass' real problem is that customers don't mind, just like they don't mind the Plexiglas in taxis, or banks , or late night gas stations and convenience stores. She can't stand stand that other people don't subscribe to her view, and thus she wants to impose her worldview standard on everyone else by force. Aside from that, wannabe tyrant councilwoman Cindy Bass suggested that the shop should instead use security guards, metal detectors and wands. How is one more indignant than the other. Next year Cindy Bass or some other would-be overlord will say its "indignant" to go through a metal detector or be scanned by a security guard and try to ban those too (City Hall and government buildings exempted of course).

CLAIM: “The bill will also advance former President Obama’s agenda of pressuring every branch of the administration (such as the Veteran’s Administration) to submit thousands of more names to the NICS background check database to deny gun purchases.” NRA CLAIM: The bill requires that federal agencies submit the names of anyone who is already prohibited by law from possessing a firearm to the NICS background check database. This differs from former President Obama’s efforts, in which he attempted to administratively create new categories of individuals who were prohibited from possessing a firearm. H.R. 4477, by contrast, is aimed squarely at individuals like the perpetrator of the recent murders in Texas, who should have been reported to NICS because of his disqualifying criminal history. FACT: So NRA confirms Massie is correct. The bill does pressure every branch to submit more names to the database. CLAIM: “The bill is being rammed through, without a hearing, in a very nontransparent process, and it will be passed by attaching it to the popular concealed carry reciprocity bill which already has enough votes to pass on its own.”

Even if it were, isn't this Mexico's business to decide. Shouldn't Cuellar focus his attention on the things he is responsible to focus on, like Washington's proven interference and disruption in foreign elections, politics, governance, internal policies in places like Honduras, Panama, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Iraq, Afghanistan Georgia, Guatemala, Chile, Iran, Haiti, Indonesia, Israel, Philippines, South Korea, Pakistan Columbia, even Russia, and many more. These are just the proven and admitted instances. The list of nations whose politics Washington has not been proven to interfere in is probably a shorter list.

That was a straight up execution. The man was flat on the ground, face down, legs crossed, his hands on the back of his head, scared to the point of crying, and with a rifle fixed on his head. All the executioners had to do was have one go up cuff him while he was face down prone. But instead the idiot executioners bark confusing orders - put your hands flat on the ground, push yourself up, then screaming like a crazed maniac "put you hands in the air." At that point I could barely understand what the executioner was screaming. Then Brailsford orders him to crawl with his legs crossed. The orders gave the impression they were seeking to shoot the victim. He told the panicked victim several times "we are going to shoot you," "we will shoot you" if he got any barked out confusing orders wrong, especially while doing the crossed-legged yoga crawl while his pants were sliding down. I guess the only positive is at least he was charged. It wasn't the police or the state that exonerated him but the jury.

Talal Silo, a commander and spokesman for the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), defected from Syrian Kurdish territory into Turkey. … the secret deal, which the US approved, had Kurdish forces providing buses to evacuate every remaining ISIS fighter from the city, and that this was several thousand fighters. … officials invented reports of heavy fighting in Raqqa amount remaining fighters during the evacuation both as cover for the bigger evacuation and to keep journalists out of the area. Commentary from Chuck Baldwin: A recent survey conducted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) revealed a chilling discovery: a majority of Americans are apparently agreeable to preemptively nuking other nations, knowing that millions of civilians would die. The theoretical nation used in the survey was Iran. And the MIT survey found that 60% of the American people would be willing to preemptively nuke Iran, knowing that 2 million civilians would be killed. … This new survey is a reversal of decades of public opinion regarding the use of atomic or nuclear weapons following Harry Truman’s decision to drop atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan … From 1945 to the early 2000s, virtually every survey confirmed that the American people saw the atomic bombings on Japan as morally wrong and did not want to see a repeat … It is not surprising to me that of the respondents who favored nuking and killing 2 million Iranians, most were Republicans (approximately 70%). … conservatives and, especially, Christians (who comprise a large percentage of the Republican Party) have become rabid warmongers. … See the MIT survey here: Revisiting Hiroshima In Iran: What Americans Really Think About Using Nuclear Weapons And Killing Noncombatants

The SPLC authored the MIAC Fusion Center Report that identified "potential domestic terrorists" as including": outspoken critics of a Con-Con, critics of NAU, critics of human use of RFID, opponents of abortion, opponents of immigration policies, survivalists training, preppers, critics of the Federal Reserve, member of or people who display or posses material from "Constitutional Party, Campaign for Liberty, or Libertarian material", "supporters of former Presidential Candidate: Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin, and Bob Barr", people who display or distribute Gadsen flag, Molon labe, Aaron Russo's America:Freedom to Fascism, Zeitgeist the Movie, among many others. In addition, the SPLC published its absurd "extremist" list of potential domestic terrorist enablers watch list ("hit list") that included: 1. Chuck Baldwin, Pastor, Radio Broadcaster, Syndicated Columnist, 2008 Constitution Party Presidential nominee. 2. Joe Banister, former IRS special agent, tax protester.

Retained GMMB, the liberal advocacy group that created ads for the Obama and Hillary Clinton presidential campaigns, for more than $40 million, making the Democrat shop the sole recipient of CFPB’s advertising expenditure … Met behind closed doors to craft financial regulatory policy with notorious bank shakedown groups who have taken hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal grant money to gin up housing and lending discrimination complaints, which in turn are fed back to CFPB …
