Source on what? A lot of this is basic facts you should know before discussing this. For example, you said that Lincoln was elected after the South Carolina secession document was issued. The opposite is true. That simple fundamental is central to a discussion on understanding the timing of secession. I am not going to cite facts like that.

Again, the question remains. If Lincoln had no intent to "interfere with the institution of slavery in the states where it exists," then why did he take action to stop secession?

Yes, I am well aware of what Stephens said. Not much different than Lincoln's view of blacks:

The secession documents were more practical documents to gain support from fellow southern states. One of the debates focused on which issues to emphasize. It was decided to focus on support and cohesion from other southern states rather than the world. The total focus on slavery today ignores the fact that Lincoln did not care about slavery where it already existed. Lincoln said, "I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so." Lincoln is basically agreeing with South Carolina and its document. He changes tactics when he realizes that he will not get world support on economic issues.

Germany's Bayer offers $62 bn for Monsanto Berlin (AFP) - German pharmaceuticals giant Bayer on Monday said it had offered $62 billion for US agriculture group Monsanto in a move which would create the world's biggest supplier of seeds, pesticides and genetically-modified crops. Bayer said it had made an "all-cash offer" for the US giant at $122 per share or a total of $62 billion (55 billion euros). "The planned combination with Monsanto is such an extraordinary opportunity to create a global leader in the agricultural industry. Monsanto is a perfect match to our agricultural business," the German firm said. Bayer said expected synergies from the merger would result in an annual boost to earnings of around $1.5 billion after three years.

Now experts say low fat diets are BAD for us: Obesity charity claims we should stop counting calories and eat more healthy fats - but the Government brands advice 'irresponsible' By Fiona Macrae for the Daily Mail and Anna Hodgekiss and Madlen Davies for MailOnline Published: 19:05 EST, 22 May 2016 Cutting back on butter, cream, cheese and other fatty foods is fuelling the obesity epidemic with disastrous consequences for health, experts have warned. In a damning report that accuses major public health bodies of colluding with the food industry, the National Obesity Forum and the Public Health Collaboration said most of what we are told about healthy eating is wrong. The report's authors say the epidemic's roots lie in the modern-day obsession with low-fat diets, while snacking between meals is making people fat.

Dandelion Tea for Liver Detox, Healthy Skin & Stomach Most homeowners don’t realize that the yellow weeds that pop up every spring, and must be kept at bay for months, are actually plants that have a number of powerful health benefits. In fact, humans have been using dandelions in food for much of recorded history. Dandelion is used for the treatment of muscle aches, loss of appetite, upset stomach, intestinal gas, gallstones, joint pain, eczema and bruises. It also increases urine production and serves as a laxative to increase bowel movements. Some people use dandelion to treat infection, especially viral infections and even cancer. It’s also used as a skin toner, blood tonic and digestive tonic. Dandelion greens can be chopped up and used as a garnish or an addition to a sauce, or they can be eaten raw or cooked to minimize their somewhat bitter flavor. You can also use the dandelion root, stems and flowers to make a delicious and super-healthy tea. Either way, you reap the benefits of this unexpected nutritional plant. Dandelion Tea Nutrition Facts

Dandelion Overview While many people think of the dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) as a pesky weed, it is chock full of vitamins A, B, C, and D, as well as minerals, such as iron, potassium, and zinc. Dandelion leaves are used to add flavor to salads, sandwiches, and teas. The roots are used in some coffee substitutes, and the flowers are used to make wines. In the past, dandelion roots and leaves were used to treat liver problems. Native Americans also boiled dandelion in water and took it to treat kidney disease, swelling, skin problems, heartburn, and upset stomach. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), dandelion has been used to treat stomach problems, appendicitis, and breast problems, such as inflammation or lack of milk flow. In Europe, dandelion was used in remedies for fever, boils, eye problems, diabetes, and diarrhea. So far, there have not been any quality scientific studies on dandelion. Today, the roots are mainly used to stimulate the appetite, and for liver and gallbladder problems. Dandelion leaves are used as a diuretic to help the body get rid of too much fluid.

There was also considerable debate on how the causes should be cited. One issue was the presentation to other southern states (for support) versus presentation to the world. Judge Wardlaw, for just one example, stated: "My objections to the other Address is that it deals too much with the Fugitive Slave Law and upon Personal Liberty Bills. It is too much like special pleading." The documents and debates vary among the other seceding states. Note that Georgia, for example, actually includes the tariff issue in its final document. Denying that the secessionists and politicians of the day did not debate and argue about the tariff as cause is like saying oil had nothing to do with the Iraqi invasion.

No, Lincoln was elected November 1860. Related? By that logic I could say the constitutional issues to which the document alludes are related to tariffs.

Looks like the store missed a promotional opportunity. They could've had their employees strap two shot pistols to their legs, under their skirts. Could have called them Derringer by Victoria, or something like that. The employee then takes out the pistol to shoot the thief. If it's shoplifting only, then some birdshot to the hand would do it. If the thief gets violent (as happened here), then the .45 is warranted. If the employee is not comfortable with accuracy, then they could just pelt the thief with shot in her buffalo ass. The store's next promotion could be something like Pistol Load for a Wide Load. Probably won't happen though. Nobody ever likes my marketing ideas. :(

I am speaking of proportion, not raw numbers. The tariff was a more a sectional issue for Democrats than Republicans. Hunter first tabled the bill because he wanted to propose his own version of the house bill for his senate colleagues. He wanted more deliberate consideration. This was not really possible because the first senate session was ending shortly after the house bill passed. The second senate session would not resume until after the fall elections. Since there was a long gap between sessions at this time (almost six months), you can't necessarily consider Hunter's first suspension of the bill as "filibuster." In fact, there were many Democrats who urged a vote on the bill. The bill was later resurrected by Pennsylvania's Cameron immediately after Lincoln's election victory. The atmosphere was now much different because the Republican senate election wins and shift of power. That made if more dire for Hunter, along with Pennsylvania's conditional support of the tariff tied with their now connection to the Republican Party. The momentum had greatly shifted in six months, with the north and south division becoming even more apparent. It's no accident that South Carolina issued their secession document only two weeks after Cameron's hasty motion to reintroduce the bill.

Never said "being right" is pointless (indeed, the point I make is "right"). I said that my friend Irwin was "right" about the tax code and the "goons" didn't give a damn and they never will. I don't want good people going to "court" thinking they have some magic words to say to the judge that will allow them to walk free when the goons want their money. Ain't gonna happen. Goons with guns win every time. To make any change we need to say "no" in numbers that they cannot ignore. We don't say "no" because some magic passage in the code says we can say "no". We say "NO" because it's the right (moral) thing to do whether their damn "law" says it is or not. It is RIGHT to keep your money and it's WRONG for them to steal it. That is what people need to realize and when enough of the people wake up their goon squads won't be big enough to break our legs and burn down our houses. THEN we win... P.S. If I'm wrong then show me the 100's of "patriots" who have gone to court and won... Oh, ok, show me 10 who have won... 5???

Having just returned from my 20-something time in China I don't doubt this for a second. The media is so closely monitored and squelched there it's probably only second to N. Korea. Most life in China is pretty good (especially if compared to 20+ years ago) and there's more prosperity there than at any time in the history of China but the goons there take their job of "control" very seriously. You can get away with any minor violation with ease and those are never seriously enforced but don't say anything in public about government policies unless you are supporting same. It's sad really. I see how cowed they are and most of them know they are cowed. The biggest difference between the cowed sheeple there and the cowed sheeple here is that our sheeple actually believe they are NOT cowed...

Bingo! I've been trying to tell these people... "Laws" don't matter. You are dealing with a criminal gang called the federal mafia. Irwin was right in all his research about the "laws" and it did not help him one bit. He was put in prison and he died there because the only mistake he made was thinking that the criminal gang would follow any "law". The only "law" they follow is: "The meek are weak and the strong do eat"...

It's pretty sickening that me wanting someone who suffers from a severe mental illness to get treatment before they mutilate their body makes your mind automatically jump to rape.
  2. View Conversation
The only sickening thing is you would let a man with a severe mental illness have his penis removed and you somehow think that is normal and healthy.
  3. View Conversation
It's "evil" to say that a man who wants to cut off his penis has a mental illness and should be given treatment for his disease? Sorry, but what is truly evil is to allow a sick man to have his penis cut off.
