Trying to manifest a romantic relationship with a potential soul mate who will be on the journey with me. If the universe aligns as such I will be planning a road trip to take her up the coast asap.

*sigh*... as has always been the case (with both "Big L" and "small l" libertarians), some do and some do not. Same as it ever was.

Yesterday, 08:29 PM Up to 300,000 people facing heart-related illnesses due to post-pandemic stress disorder, warn physicians Up to 300,000 people in the UK are facing heart-related illnesses due to post-pandemic stress disorder (PPSD), two London physicians have warned. This could result in a 4.5 per cent rise in cardiovascular cases nationally because of the effects of PPSD, with those aged between 30 to 45 most at-risk, they claim. Mark Rayner, a former senior NHS psychological therapist and founder of EASE Wellbeing CIC, said that as many as three million people in Britain are already suffering from PPSD, thanks to stress and anxiety caused by the effects of Covid-19.

No one has jumped to conclusions. Some have expressed opinions about Baldwin's degree of culpability and have given reasons for their assessments. In the very video that prompted this branch of the thread, Viva Frei emphasized that what he was presenting was only his opinion - and he explicitly said that his opinion was subject to change given any new or additional information. There is nothing objectionable or deserving of a warning in any of this.

I get your point, and would otherwise agree. But in this particular case, I find I must disagree. The implications of "normalization" with respect to guns (or any other mechanisms or activities that are or could be involved with the application of force) are neither analogous with nor the same with respect to prostitution (or drug use, or any other "indecorous" activity that does not involve or is not implicated in the application of force). That is, your statement "that the more it is 'normalized', the more effective it will be for liberty" does not apply to the latter as it does to the former. In both theory and practice, libertarianism is concerned with the legitimate use of force in society. The right to defend oneself against aggression - whether from individuals or even the government - is fundamental to that concern. It is thus critical that the means by which that right (and ultimately, every other right) is to be asserted and maintained should be "normalized". IOW: The "normalization" of possessing the capacity to defend oneself from aggressors is absolutely critical to the establishment and preservation of liberty, but the "normalization" of snorting a line of blow from off a hooker's ass is not. (And what is more, the "normalization" of the first of those things will help maintain the liberty to engage in the second - but not the other way around.)

I don't see what is so hard to understand. The desire to segregate oneself from those with whom one fundamentally and irreconcilably disagrees is a necessary precursor to actually doing so. Malice is making note of the fact that such desires are increasing - "our nation's ideological self-segregation is proceeding nicely", in his words - and if the number of people with such desires ever reaches a "critical mass" (what I previously referred to as "enough cases"), then the (relatively few) modes in which such self-segregations are still not legally permitted will become increasingly less tenable and enforceable. And in fact, there are myriad ways in which such ideological segregations are at present not at all illegal. You may still choose with whom you associate in your personal/private life, where you live, the sources from which you seek information and discussion (such as RPFs), etc., etc., etc. Such instances far outnumber those in which your choices are (unjustly) constrained by law (as in for whom you must bake a cake, if you are baker). And even then, such constraints as do exist are often "unidirectional", so to speak. For example, a white merchant may be legally required to sell goods to black customers, but black customers are not legally required to purchase goods from white merchants. (It is this latter case with which the thread OP is concerned.)

While Sarah Silverman is getting roasted like a chestnut over the new show, she's had a couple red pill moments lately.. just checking her twitter I noticed she still has a long ways to go, I tried to throw her another red pill. Here she is calling out left wing fake news for the DeSantis issue, she is referring to the fact that about half the states including New York and California have these. 1466830161861509130 Here she is calling out left wing fake news for the Joe Rogan horse dewormer nonsense. Then she actually says something incredibly perceptive at the very end, not that we all didn't know it already. She was saying how if Trump had told everybody to wear masks and wore one himself, and if he had come out and said how great the vaccine was and he would be the first one to take it and did so on live TV, that the pandemic could be over.. that is bullshit, of course, because mask wearing and the vaccine wouldn't end the pandemic, neither would Trump supporters be all about that stuff regardless. Trump is good at reading a room, he tried to stay in the bounds of what conservatives were comfortable with. But that she follows it up with, "the question is as liberals, would we?" is pretty brilliant. In other words, if Trump had been all gung ho on masks and the vaccine, would the left have worn masks and all gone out and gotten vaccinated? Probably not..

People having opinions about things - such as whether Alec Baldwin is prone to being an arrogant, angry asshole who is capable of shooting & killing someone accidentally in a fit of pique and then fobbing all responsibility for it off on everyone else except himself - is not a "cultural issue that affects the liberty movement and the Right", It is an absolutely normal and typical thing that all human beings throughout history have done and will continue to do for so long as they remain human beings.

And for that very reason, gun ownership is a light that should not be hidden under a bushel. The more "normalized" it is, the more effective it will be for the purpose AF identified. It should absolutely be normalized - and good for Massie for doing his bit as a prominent public figure.

I don't really disagree with any of this. But I would note, however, that Binion himself injected the issue of libertarian "credentials" when he chose to frame his remarks with the preface, "I say this as a libertarian ...".

I actually did recently create one for a college scholarship. But I've literally never used that account other than for that. I literally have zero friends on my facebook account, and deliberately so. I don't like using it. Seems like a waste of time for me. I'd rather spend time here on serious stuff
