In coastal California, especially the southern half, you can expect winter time highs in the low to mid 60s, and it's hard to go more than 2 or 3 weeks without getting a couple days that get up to 70 or so. Summer time highs are typically in the mid or upper 70s, hard to go more than 2 or 3 weeks without getting a couple days in the low 70s. Then there is really something for everybody beyond that.. you can live in the mountains or the desert, plenty of rural areas as well. You can choose a town with rednecks, hippies or hipster yuppies of any size. Huge state. Beautiful scenery, beautiful beaches, mountains, etc. The people are usually pretty friendly and chill.

I think everybody agrees he shouldn't have been shot, and besides his family, probably no one more than the officer himself.. the question is whether the police officer should be liable. We can all sit here and watch the tapes over and over, we can do freeze frames to determine that .8 seconds transpired between the time he was shown with a gun, and the time he got shot. We can all play armchair police in the safety of our home. The problem is, the police officer saw he had a gun in his hand, and he started raising his hands and then he shot him. In the heat of the moment, with tensions high, it is difficult to fault the officer.

Fight to get better people elected? Fight to give our voting systems more integrity? Fight to get better bills passed? That's the same thing as telling BLM to be MORE confrontational than they already are?? Again, you are way, way off.. Part of it is an audience thing. The left has been violent and burned down stuff, the right has been largely peaceful, they are the ones being attacked violently. Trump's audience is largely non violent, so when he tells them to fight for election integrity, he's not telling them to get in a street brawl with police or something. Telling a group of people to be more confrontational, who destroyed billions of dollars worth of property, which lead to the death of many people and injured countless others, is completely different.

Telling Trump supporters to "march to the Capitol and peacefully cheer on politicians" is NOT the same thing as telling BLM to get "more confrontational". Not the same stadium, league or sport.

Occam's Banana replied to a thread White Pills in Open Discussion 1383187423731937282 April 13, 2021 Dear Fellow Brearley Parents, Our family recently made the decision not to reenroll our daughter at Brearley for the 2021-22 school year. She has been at Brearley for seven years, beginning in kindergarten. In short, we no longer believe that Brearley’s administration and Board of Trustees have any of our children’s best interests at heart. Moreover, we no longer have confidence that our daughter will receive the quality of education necessary to further her development into a critically thinking, responsible, enlightened, and civic minded adult. I write to you, as a fellow parent, to share our reasons for leaving the Brearley community but also to urge you to act before the damage to the school, to its community, and to your own child's education is irreparable. It cannot be stated strongly enough that Brearley’s obsession with race must stop. It should be abundantly clear to any thinking parent that Brearley has completely lost its way. The administration and the Board of Trustees have displayed a cowardly and appalling lack of leadership by appeasing an anti-intellectual, illiberal mob, and then allowing the school to be captured by that same mob. What follows are my own personal views on Brearley's antiracism initiatives, but these are just a handful of the criticisms that I know other parents have expressed.

Note how the tweets from CNN and TIME in my previous post seek to conflate COVID and "climate change" as being sufficiently similar to justify congruous policies and practices. Now consider the Bloomberg article referenced in the tweet below, which suggests that the "new normal" of COVID travel restrictions are an appropriate analog for policies and practices aimed at dealing with the supposed environmental problem of what they dub "overtourism" ... (complete with a reference to "flight shaming," which appears to be something kindred in spirit to "mask shaming" ...) COVID-inspired bullshit isn't going anwhere. It's just changing the underlying excuse it uses to justify itself. 1383509837716221960

Meh. Psychiatry is problematic enough as it is, without injecting politics into it - and vice versa. Whether or to what extent psychiatry is actually just a bunch of hoodoo gussied up as "science" is an issue about which volumes could be written. Science requires rigorous definitions and objectively reproducible measurements. These are things in which the field of psychiatry is severely deficient. But for the sake of what follows, let us assume that psychiatry is not just another instance of overweening scientism. Did the study account for how likely members of the various groups (liberal, conservative, male, female, young, old, etc.) were to seek psychiatric diagnoses in the first place?

I doubt it has much if anything to do with his mind. one way or the other (let alone with changing it). I suspect it's more a matter of which behind-the-throne faction has access to the Oval Office stationery and autopen at any given moment.

Bus loads of antifa were dropped off by the Capitol.. many of the people who initially broke through the police lines were not Trump supporters - most Trump supporters were listening to the speech when this happened. By the time they got there, people were just being let in to the Capitol, and the Capitol protest was mostly peaceful after they started letting people in. Many of us here thought that they had too few police guarding the Capitol on purposes, and that it was a false flag setup by the left.

I actually did recently create one for a college scholarship. But I've literally never used that account other than for that. I literally have zero friends on my facebook account, and deliberately so. I don't like using it. Seems like a waste of time for me. I'd rather spend time here on serious stuff
