Yeah. I mentioned no fault divorce....given to us by "conservative" Ronald Reagan who basically wanted one for himself. Oh and he was an early proponent of gun control too. Reminds me of another more recent "conservative" president...but I digress.

1803137700603519049 No relation to this thread or your post, but when I clicked on the "patio furniture" tweet to get the full context, Jennifer Anniston's nipple tweet came up so I took that as a sign that this thread needed something to lighten the mood. Edit: But keeping with the Juneteenth mood. 1803414550475116679

https://x.com/FrankDeScushin/status/1803420113942556857 FrankDeScushin I support Juneteenth. I understand black Americans celebrating their ancestors' freedom from slavery. That makes sense, and I don't begrudge them their day. I, however, do begrudge that history being used to explain today's outcome differences it has nothing to do with. Therein lies the problem with trying to integrate the descendants of formerly enslaved people into your populace. Many will always harbor resentment, and many will always use that history as an excuse. There's no indication either is significantly letting up as time passes. The man most associated with freeing America's slaves, Abraham Lincoln, recognized the strained history between Blacks and Whites would cause conflict, and thus it would be best for the parties to be separated. Lincoln, however, recognized that the natural differences between the two groups would also lead to conflict and outcome differences.

 I'm talking about specifically regarding the break up of the family. You're welcome to jump into the stream of a conversation but not welcome to change the subject. Please address what's actually being discussed at the moment thank you very much. Edit: And please understand that the words immigration and integration are not the same thing. Consult a dictionary if necessary. For a further reference see: https://www.vox.com/2015/3/18/8237299/irish-crime-1850s Americans can look back to the Irish immigrants of the 1850s to see that criminal justice disparities are very often a symptom of vast socioeconomic disparities, not traits inherent to a certain group of people.

Well I have a son who's become acclimatized to Chicago. Okay. But I thought the point of the 3 hour Tucker interview that I haven't watched yet is that the problem with the Civil Rights Movement is that it got people thinking collectively? I'm seriously confused as to what your position is. Did you watch the Joe Rogan interview I posted about Sparta? Just curious.

Well, when we have a real winter, it's not for everybody. His quote about "genetic fingerprints" is right in my sig line. For good or bad, people carry their history, their shared experiences, their religion and philosophy and it reaches from generation to generation. A strong proposition nation, of which the United States is one of the few and most successful in history, can overcome those genetic fingerprints by offering a vision that is stronger and more powerful than those fingerprints. And we did, for many years and generations. But that proposition is now shredded and dead, and the people that should have vigorously defended it, are weak, vacuous or complicit in it's destruction, many of whom I have made it very clear what interests and group they serve.

So....you're not going to answer my question and you're going to change the subject. Whether Trump can be trusted to implement replacing the income tax with tariffs is a completely different point than what it could work at all.

No offense, but your winter doesn't look that appealing to me. :) I'll listen to it sometime when I have a 3 hour drive by myself. But this begs the question. Isn't this entire thread collectively viewing people? I'm seriously stunned by the genetic trauma argument coming from you as that is the kind of argument I would be expecting from a critical race theorist. If Pat Buchannan endorsed that view that's even more shocking. This reminds me of a song.

Only a grand? You're letting me off cheap, especially considering I'd be happy to have you as a neighbor. ;) This is three hours long, but worth the watch. Mrs. AF was singing his praises in this interview, until he said, in almost the same words, the same thing I have been saying for years about "collectively" viewing people. https://x.com/i/status/1801302722664087612 1801302722664087612

It's only racist if "doing for your people" requires you to mistreat someone else. I would have no problem with Larry Bird going to his old neighborhood and starting a "White people can play basketball too" camp. Institutions that blacks have set up to help ourselves have almost universally been open for everyone else. Whites were always allowed to attend HBCUs if they wanted to and if local segregation laws didn't prevent it. Black churches have always been open to white people. And while Vanilla Ice got booed when he was nominated for best R&B single, he still got nominated and the did a biopic of him on BET. https://www.bet.com/article/rg5mhf/vanilla-ice-is-getting-a-biopic Meanwhile Eminem has been fully embraced by black people. (I still don't get that but okay).

Christianity went from the Middle East to Africa in the first century AD and Christianity was established as the official religion of Ethiopia about the same time that Constantine converted. Constantine was pagan, but Ethiopia was Jewish prior to Christianity. And Ethiopian Judaism had not been polluted by the Babylonian Talmud. (Probably why it was so much easier for Ethiopian Jews to convert). Meanwhile, you got your "rainbow tribe" from the Greek Spartans who, despite their bravery for standing up against the Persians, had a thing for little boys. Is that what you call "enlightenment?" I've gotta get out the door, so I'll come back to the rest. But that is all I am doing as well: asking where my community goes from here and what is best for my people? It sounds weird and "racist" and so on, because for over fifty years now, all people, especially white people, have been taught that every other ethnic group can speak in those terms except white Europeans. At any rate, enjoy the day!

How many Americans own oil wells? Does that change the fact that since WW2 America has dominated through the petrodollar? No. No it does not. The slave economy benefited more people than just the slave owners. There were the overseers. There were the people who owned the cotton gin. There were the slavecatchers. When the transatlantic slave trade was going on there were the people who owned the slave ships (a significant portion of them in the "small hat club" as Anti Federalist points out). There were the sailors on the slave ships. There were the textile manufacturers who bought and processed the cotton (some in the North and some in Europe). It was an entire economy that benefited from the same system. We go to war over oil (and don't pretend we don't) because our entire economy is dependent upon it. Gaddafi had made peace with the U.S. under George W. Bush and our first black president, Barack Obama, facilitated his overthrow and murder because Gaddafi wanted to get Libya off of the petrodollar. The only reason we aren't bombing Saudi Arabia right now is because the United States is weak and BRICS is strong. See above. You still don't realize you're destroying your own argument. Interesting.

I'm at work and had it on. Customer saw who it was and said I shouldn't have political commentary on while at work. I politely told them it's the going away address from a man that had been serving for over 30 years, and there was no way I wouldn't be watching. She stayed for a few minutes when Ron was talking about militarism. LOL

Haha good story. We went to Tulsa, (it was the closest and soonest) and for our date night we went downtown to a Mexican Food restaurant. I wanted to eat somewhere local, because you can eat at a chain any ole day. We had a few drinks, but we were back in the Hotel by 8pm....and...uh....really enjoyed the rest of the night.
