Indeed....I art not. Thanks for the rep, hope you're well.
  2. absorption systems are weak, and require a constant heat source.
they are also a finicky closed loop system.
better to pursue evaporative cooling systems..

I kinda think the latter, with maybe a icemaker inside the box that deals with full sun overrun in midday that physically vents to the ice chest at night when there's no sun.

Just an idea I've toyed with for a couple of decades plus, wondering why nobody has tried it.

Since you've mastered all that, I figured your intuitive grasp could provide a quick evaluation of the notion, if you don't mind me asking.

    Away from politics into refrigeration.

I've studied it some. Particularly ammonia gas systems because I always seem to be living without electricity and propane refrigerators do work.

What are the chances of a purely solar powered direct solar heated ammonia gas refrigeration system?

I envision a generator panel on the south side, perhaps plumbed with flex lines to the evaporator in a quality ice chest. With the condenser circuit coming out the same opening to circle around the box onto the shady side with flex but supported with a light frame around the outside of the box.

Only one hole in the box.

Any chance of analog controls? Or is a small solar electric circuit, microprocessor controlled brain going to be needed?

I also don't know why my mailbox looks funny.

humor is good for the site. + I had not talked with you in awhile, and you asked?

Ken, why are you justifying your flirtation with Suz?
  7. Bryan is doing his best to improve the level of discourse on this site.
I am trying to help him.

    Limited government = Min Archy.
I flirt with Suze because she handles the (troll) droolers well.

Bryan is promoting activism by drawing drawing attention to it.

the new system also draws attention to.. other things...
    best,

Now tell me, why would I be mad about that? Seriously, though, based on the criteria, I don't rate on that scale. I have no clue how to rate myself, so I'm not going to.

Hey, got a motor question for you.
When I turn on the milking machine vacuum pump, the motor does not run and it draws a LOT of current. The motor is not frozen up or anything, everything turns just fine. Does this sound like a bad capacitor and if so, how does one check a capacitor?

    P.S. Hi, how are ya?

And The Next Big Thing Is... Degrowth?

by HVACTech on 04-07-2014 at 07:59 AM
The Grand Narrative of the past few centuries goes something like this: from religious authority to secular authority, from agriculture to industrial, from rural to urban, from local to global, from periphery to center, from decentralized to centralized, from low-density energy to high-density energy (from wood to coal to oil/natural gas), from industrial to communication technology, from gold to fiat currencies, from linear to non-linear (complex/fractal), from local scarcity and high cost to global
