I know arpaio said something about a pardon would be nice, but why are people talking about Trump pardoning him now? Shouldn't Arpaio be appealing first? Doesn't he get to appeal?

Hey! At the very least, this may force a discussion and some honest news coverage. Right now they are being praised as a civil rights group that wants to help and protect people. "Peace through violence" as CNN has been quoted saying. I don't know of anything they've ever done outside of attacking others specifically to start riots! The democrats have been happy to accept their help to make all non-leftists look like nazi monsters. Meanwhile, these people are actually saving, storing and handling their own feces and urine to fling at people like monkeys! Bring UrinTifa front and center and force the left to denounce them as the violent hate group they are!

Thanks, but no, I don't think it was that and I haven't seen it in so long that can't remember exactly what was on it. Uncle John definitely wasn't a Harlem Hellfighter. He probably enlisted from either Cleveland, Ohio, NJ or possibly NY - that's how our family was spread out at the time It was a brownish metal (bronze?). There was a larger, chunky part that hung from some smaller part. Unfortunately, I detached it from the upper part and only kept the bigger hanging part cause I had no idea what it was. (Stupid kid! I was a 13 year old girl at the time. :/) I only wanted the "nice" part. I can't even remember what the top part was - think it was just some type of bar, probably some ribbon. I found a picture of one like it online about 17 years ago but apparently never saved it to any newer computers. Wish I had paid more attention to my Dad's stories about the family. What I do remember is that it was different from most medals I've seen because it wasn't just a symbol or face on it. It was more like a miniature illustration - there was a fiqure or two or more and I think little trees off in the background and that's why I liked it. They might've been crossing a small wooden bridge, towards the viewer. This had been sculpted onto a chunky cross shape similar to a + sign. If that rings any bells or if you know of a good website likely to have pictures of it, I'd appreciate you letting me know. I haven't been able to re-find it online anywhere.

My father had an uncle who survived the battle of the Argonne Forest. He got an impressive medal for it - wish I could remember the proper name for it - I have it in a box of stuff somewhere. I didn't even know what it was when I found it in a drawer at my grandmothers house after she'd died. My Dad said he had shell shock so drank a lot, and became one of those hobos that would hop trains. Eventually he froze to death in a field with a bottle of whiskey in his hand.

I heard that "base stick man" got arrested participating in the actual free speech rally, but had never really paid attention to the guy, so wouldn't know. http://bpdnews.com/news/2017/8/19/nwez3w61jv5rm1ub2siyofkbizrvki 1.*Zhen XIE, 33, MALDEN, Assault & Battery on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest 2. You know - it occurred to me this morning - all 30 thousand (or whatever) of those protesters probably had their faces scanned for facial recognition during the march. You'd think the violent ones would start finding themselves arrested any day now. ...I'll be watching for that.

Well, at least there hasn't been a state of emergency declared yet. Yes, you're right. Opium comes out of the seed pod that way, but it contains a lot of other alkaloids besides the morphine. I think some of them can make you sick if there happens to be a lot of certain other alkaloids, in the plant being used. I don't know if anyone sells plain opium anymore. (from 1922) Heroin is opium that's been processed with certain chemicals. After that, it can be adulterated with stuff like fentanyl to make it stretch further.

from the hill article: Checking wkipedia, I see that the Stafford Act means getting a bunch of money and assistance from the federal government... and much more. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stafford_Disaster_Relief_and_Emergency_Assistance_Act The Public Health Service Act was ammended to tie it to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (Obamacare) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Health_Service_Act Christie wants to help grow government and create a flashy role for himself to play when his term as governor is up.

The stuff on the black market is now often mixed with fentanyl which is way stronger than heroin. They aren't careful about how much they add, and don't warn buyers that it's in there (probably don't even know). From what I've witnessed, fentanyl is what's actually causing most of the overdoses for the past about 4 years. For some reason Christie want's to make it all about doctors overprescribing - guess doctors are easier to arrest than cartel members or their gangs. Natural opium is not such a reliable way to relieve pain though it could work - grow space is necessary (& viewable to helicopters.) It's not consistent like doctor-prescribed medicines.

Damn. Here we go. Will Trump have the gall to declare a national state of emergency on Christie's advice? Anyone know what exactly, we can expect them to do differently after this declaration is made? I get the impression it gives government increased authority, makes it even easier to ignore our rights, and that governors will be given extra powers. Coincidentally, a number of governors were involved in Christie's lop-sided report.

I don't know how the rest of the democrat party could not be embarrassed by this woman. She's really coming off as being mentally deficient. You'd think one of them would take her aside and have a serious talk with her - warn her that it's time to retire.

Gov. Chris Christie is going for another power grab by trying to convince President Trump that it's necessary to declare a national state of emergency over the "opiod crisis". Christie is chairman of the President's Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis. While much of his plan revolves around forcing insurance companies to pay for addiction treatment, his main goal seems to be getting strict contol over pain killers and how and when they are used. I'm a chronic pain patient living in NJ (don't use them constantly - not addicted) and can attest to the fact that fewer and fewer doctors are willing to prescribe pain meds because of increased liabilities. One of my bone doctors flatout told me that they're persecuting doctors - claiming their careless prescribing is the #1 reason people get addicted - and then start using heroin! Doctors are now required to give us a "talk" with every prescription  (they already always warned about addiction). For years now, when I am given a prescription for an opiate, it has to have a unique bar code printed on it, and also my name goes into a data base that a doctor can check, to see whether any other doctors have given me prescriptions, and how much, how often, and when. Surely, Christie will want to make this a nationwide practice. I'd guess that AG Sessions is going to go right along with it. The report Christie has drafted, uses very broadly based, non-specific statistics to back up his assertions, then places the blame on doctors who are legally prescribing pain medicines. He offers no evidence indicting that this is true, other than "we believe". My own experience, plus the experiences of persons I know, (including addicts and former addicts) indicate the exact opposite! I know no one who ever became addicted to legally prescribed pain killers first!

I was so busy gloating over McCain's disappointment, that I didn't even pay attention to the two amendments Rand added; 1) end indefinite detention 2) authorization to use military force. The first article I posted just barely alluded to these at the very end of the piece. At the beginning, they featured the "objection... without explaining why" angle. Both are issues that have been raised repeatedly over the years, and are pretty standard "Rand" - so McCain really should've been expecting them to come up, no? Did he forget? Expect a pass because of his condition? Was he taking too many painkillers to worry about it? hmmm... Yeah, I guess we can't expect a halt to any spending bill just because McCain isn't there - particularly war funding - but maybe some of Rand's bipartisian work will pay off and something positive will be done about these two issues before it goes through.
