In the 1950's there were 102 "widely recognized sovereign states" (per wikipedia), that's now up to 195. Certainly not a direct indication since none came from the USA but it's still something. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states_in_the_1950s https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states_in_the_2020s

The Texas GOP concluded their state convention in Houston today and per reports... There are now platform planks that effectively call for a state wide vote for Texas to reassert itself as an independent nation and otherwise call for state sovereignty due to federally mandated legislation that infringes upon the 10th Amendment. The Texas National Movement (TNM) is the force behind this: https://tnm.me/ Their Texas independent booth was quite popular at the convention. Learn more about TEXIT: https://tnm.me/texit

Considering total cost of ownership for a fully capable vehicle, I don't see anything close to a hybrid. Been this was for 10+ years. Toyota has hybrid SUVs that get 40 mpg, cars at 60. https://www.toyota.com/hybrid-suvs/ https://www.toyota.com/hybrid/ Lots of people still don't understand the keys to why it's effective as it's a bit nuanced, so: - you can get away with having a very small gas engine because when you need max power, you have two motors providing power at the same time. Peek power needs are short bursts but needed. So you start with a small gas engine that is very fuel efficient. - the gas engine can shut down for low power demand situations, when the battery can handle it. - the gas motor can efficiently recharge the battery in moderate power demand situations.

Obvious attempt at infringement, but also one not well considered. It would just incentive selling stripped lowers (aka the gun)... at $60, the tax is a minor obstacle.

"America has the highest gun violence in the world" (reference to murder rate)

Murder is a terrible thing and certainly no one wants to see one of their loved ones murdered.

In 2004 I found out about a special mountain climbing expedition to Antarctica that consisted of a team of four Israelis
