Word from Russian propaganda/news channels is that the Ukranian embassy/consulate in Tajikistan had published and then deleted something on their website trying to recruit or foment Russian action. Details are sketchy. Take with a grain of salt.

Zero reserve requirement does not "expire". It's still the current regulatory regime. While banks are not required to maintain any specific reserve ratio any more, they do have to manage liquidity. They (the banks) are fighting right now to avoid having to comply with Basel III standards on that front as American banks do not have the reserves/liquidity to meet the Basel III requirements. Last I saw, it looked like the Fed was going to neuter the requirements. I wrote a bit about this issue here: https://www.pmbug.com/threads/what-is-risky-in-life-zero-reserve-or-full-reserve-banking.5723/ Also, the banking laws changed from bail-out to bail-in circa 2013: https://www.pmbug.com/threads/no-banks-are-safe-bail-ins-fdic-limits-systemic-risks.2237/

Thanks to the dollar's role as an international reserve plus Fed QE, the US Treasury Dept really should be printing up 1,000 and even 10,000 dollar bills.

Trying to disqualify an incumbent politician on a technicality like that is a top tier bitchass move. Anyone supporting Eric Deters supports everything wrong with American politics.

BTFP ends today. Banks can't initiate any new loans under that program, but get to keep any existing loans. NYCB looked to be on the brink but might have been rescued with a $1B package from Mnuchin & co. https://news.bitcoin.com/speculation-intensifies-over-us-banking-sectors-fate-as-feds-btfp-closure-looms/

Read the Jan 10 statement at the link. She was very diplomatic in that interview. But if you are familiar with her history, you will grok what she is really saying.

Hester Pierce has been the lone voice of reason within the SEC for a while now. You can find more of her statements posted on the SEC website: https://www.sec.gov/news/speeches-statements?speaker=122056&field_person_target_id=Commissioner%20Hester%20M.%20Peirce Her statement from Jan 10 is pretty scathing.

Coinbase experienced a glitch yesterday while BTC was surging from 60k to 64k and Coinbase was showing folks that they had zero BTC in their accounts. Coinbase customers could not sell or transfer any BTC they held in their accounts. It was a scary situation for some folks who were posting on X/Twitter that they had millions of dollars worth of BTC in their Coinbase accounts. Good grief! If you own millions of dollars (or even much less than that, but a significant amount) of crypto, be smart and get yourself a good self custody solution like Trezor or Ledger.

I don't know if that was actually Trudeau's daughter or even if he has a daughter, but that girl sounded just like the "Girl You Wish You Hadn't Started a Conversation With at a Party" from SNL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGsQES_OdrQ

Quit dividing support for the best candidates. Ron and Rand ftw!
  3. I can try. I haven't seen anything about it yet either. But I already made one diary not that long ago slamming Obama on Iran, but then the administration ended up doing the right thing. I don't have too mcuh time right now to do it though...

Hi there. Can you write a tactful post on dailykos about Obama's promise to extend the patriot act provisions?
I notice the silence is deafening over there, but I am not one to write a good diary. Thank you.

Why I Support Ron Paul

by Imperial on 09-10-2011 at 12:56 PM
[Originally posted here, at my personal blog].

Between covering electoral politics on several blogs, getting active in the Republican Party, and attending an extremely liberal and politically active college, one question appears often: who do you support for President?

That question came up again while I was watching the last presidential primary debate. I was surrounded by friends of numerous political varieties, and we went around a circle explaining our candidate

Vote on PPP to poll New Mexico- for RP 2012!

by Imperial on 02-02-2011 at 12:23 AM
It really is important to go vote here and get New Mexico polled. PPP has been doing their polls in an interesting manner lately.

Remember all of the buzz about Ron Paul running for Senate? While it appears that he will end up not pulling the trigger on that run, it did force the pundits to do something interesting: Dr. Paul was in the news. The blogosphere lit up with mentions of the good doctor possibly running for Senate and being a frontrunner. A strong performance like this,
