I am indeed surprised! I think you'd like it. It's also not a terribly long read like other Rothbard tomes. (you can read it in one sitting, depending on how long your sittings are) Available free in several formats here: http://mises.org/document/1011 I haven't read it in a few years, and probably should again.

Thanks for the +rep. Here's one of Hoppe's lectures on the failure of Democracy. There are others on youtube, of course. Enjoy!
  4. Your liberty to swing your arm ends at my nose. Slander and defamation are valid torts with a longstanding history in English common law.

The reason this method of settling disputes exists is so people don't kill each other over it instead, which historically people have done quite often.

I gave you neg rep because the thread titles in this forum are tweeted and you just made a public spectacle with an anti-Paul diatribe, when you could have asked your question in a much more civil manner. You deserved it and you should come to terms with that.

IIRC, it was in that thread I first saw him being an ass, and -repped him. Before I pm'ed you about this, he wrote on my profile, “Wrong. Vessol is now a known liar which is quite easy to confirm. Search on my user ID and try to locate the source for Vessol's false attribution of the phrase, "bunch of stuff", to me. Well, you'll find that Vessol is the source for the false attribution. Since you're defending a known liar, your credibility is questionable.”
Then when I pm'ed you to ask about the issue, he wote on my profile " “Instead of inquiring with Sentient Void about Vessol's lie, all you have to do is search on my UserID. You'll find the original user of the phrase in question was Vessol who falsely attributed it to me. It's not hard. I'm assuming by your question to Sentient Void that you want rumor instead of facts... ”

He seems rather creeeepy to me. :P

Hey, man. I want to check with you on a rumor I just heard about RPF member Vessol. According to tpreitzel, he is a "known liar". I don't know tpreitzel or his history well, so I can't vouch for his credibility. WTF is he talking about? Any truth to this?
  8. "ChaosControl is a liberaltarian"

That's fine. I wish there were more environmentalist libertarians. But if he wishes keep the "-tarian" part, he should brush up on his econ 101.
  9. Heh, he'll still engage in some kind of adhockery in order to make him feel better about his cognitive dissonance... he's emotionally attached to the issue of free trade on a personal level. Something about losing his job due to cheaper foreign labor methinks.

To anyone who's interested or enjoyed my posts -- I've put together my own site.

by Sentient Void on 06-17-2017 at 07:03 PM
I haven't been on RPF in the forums or blogging for quite a while, now. As it stands, I've moved my primary blogging space to its own site, at a place I call 'A Sisyphean Revolt', where I talk about politics, economics, philosophy, culture, and entertainment. My internet 'nym can be found under 'Steve Lolyouwish' or 'Vidivici Veni' at my blog and elsewhere on the 'net (Google Plus, Reddit, Twitter, etc).

If you're at all interested to catch up on my posts, you can find them at http://asisypheanrevolt.blogspot.com.

On AGW, CO2 Concentration, Venus, and the playful use of Statistical Interpretation

by Sentient Void on 10-15-2015 at 08:32 PM
Ah, yes. The ole AGW 'debate' (if one could honestly call it that). I apologize in advance for sullying your computer screen with another such screed, but the AGW hype-train just keeps on keepin' on, and there are some particularly glaring nosebleed-inducing dents in said hype-train for me to stay quiet on much longer.

First, let's look at the real meat of the numbers, here.

AGW, or Anthropogenic Global Warming, and CO2 alarmists constantly refer to the current CO2

First, what is 'the NAP' (for those unlikely few of you)?

Abortion, rights and libertarianism. How to 'solve' this understandably divisive issue?

by Sentient Void on 08-01-2013 at 05:23 PM
The issue of abortion is one that is constantly brought up and debated about at length within libertarian circles. It is often if not almost always approached as a black and white issue which in my view understandably creates tension and conclusions which cause their own problems. It's time to understand and consider a different approach to this altogether.

There is a common Rothbardian argument with respect to abortion. To the mother (the right and proper owner of her private property,

FACT: The United States actually voted for 'Nobody' in 2012

by Sentient Void on 11-20-2012 at 07:34 PM
FACT: The United States voted 'NOBODY, 2012'

In *2011* the *voting age population* of the USA was 237,657,645. It's obviously even more in 2012.

61,173,739 voted for Obama.
58,167,260 voted for Romney.

That is 119,340,999 out of a total voting age population of 237,657,645.

That means that *more than half* of the population voted for *NOBODY*. Approximately 24.4% of the voting age population voted for Romney. Approximately 25.7%
