Just because you don't relate to a plant like a cat or dog, does not mean they don't have feelings- they do. Think about that next time you down some veggies. As for God:

You'd be surprised I think. I'm no math genius, and yet I often get the thousand yard stare when I try to explain to somebody how to do time, speed and distance calculations or why you should time everything in 6 minute blocks.

We're products of colonial history, too, Einstein. While your ancestors were blithely allowing hungry children to be executed for stealing loaves of bread--and saying oh, gee, that must be the right thing to do or the king wouldn't be doing it--our ancestors were getting the hell out and burning our bridges behind us. That's why countless of these situations get prevented here by armed citizens who take out the psychotic before he or she can hurt more than one innocent person. But, of course, you won't believe me when I tell you that, because you didn't see it on the BBC. Well, you know, we don't mind if you remain willfully ignorant. But we wish you'd stop acting surprised when we don't fall on our faces and thank you for your half-baked, ill-considered, terrible, unsolicited advice on how we should run a country which you could never hope to understand or appreciate. If you're so sure you understand the finer points of this situation, let me ask you this: What did Hitler do to the Roma, and the Jews, and the communists like you, first? Give up? He disarmed them first. That was his first order of business. Now, what if they had refused to comply? Would that have been a terrible thing? Of course, you're going to tell me that was a different situation. Hitler was involved. And I have to admit, Trump doesn't look much like Hitler. He looks a lot more like Mussolini. But what he's doing to Northern Africa, it took both Il Duce and his crazy buddy to do. So you'll just have to excuse us if we choose to retain the ability to protect our Jews. And if you don't like it, well, we've already made several helpful suggestions about what you can do...

Attempted fucking murder. That's not criminal negligence. That's not psychotic stupidity. That is an attempt to murder that guy.

Exactly. And, I have worked with natural dairy farmers that treat their animals with great care. I am very particular about healthy natural living and respect for all life. And lilymc, I hate to tell you, but they are discovering that plants have intelligence too. Better think how your little vegan eatable friends are also being treated. http://factmyth.com/factoids/plants-have-senses/

Milk Myths Debunked: Dairy is Scary – or Not? February 8th, 2016 By: Julaine Treur Over the past few months, a new video about the dairy industry has been floating around the internet. Titled “Dairy is F*ing Scary” it purports to show that dairy farming is cruel and inhumane. Erin Janus glibly rattles off dozens of myths about and misrepresentations of the dairy industry, while horrific images flash over the screen. I’ve watched the video numerous times, all the while shaking my head at the blatant lies gleefully rattling off this woman’s tongue. At the request of one of my blog readers, I’d like to try to address the claims Ms. Janus makes. More here:

Interesting. At first glance this looks serious. One would be tempted to think "Oh man, if one of their largest dealers had to bring a lawsuit, it must be serious!" But it's just weasel words. I talk to customers like this all the time - "Our largest customer in Cincinnati" is a 30-employee shop that sometimes can't find its ass with both hands. Large customers don't bring lawsuits - little, annoying, meaningless, low-revenue customers do. How many Toyota dealerships are there in SoCal? Google maps shows 20 (more than I thought) but really how many cars do you need to sell to be "one of the largest"? Meaning, how many to get into spot #9 - and one of those is a used dealer to boot. Point is, you can always - always - find a company willing to bite the hand that feeds it. This sounds exactly like the accelerator problem from a few years ago - made out to be a bigger problem than it is. Don't get me wrong, I think Toyotas are shit and would love nothing more than for their market share to be taken over by companies like Mazda that seem to like making cars instead of (as AF put it some time ago) "shapeless grey people pods". I just don't think this is what's going to sink them.

Modern agriculture is equally as harmful as keeping livestock: cancer causing glyphosate, petroleum based fertilizers, DNA warping GMO franenplants, fertilizer run off causing fish kills and algae blooms, soil depletion, pesticides and so on. One is no more "responsible" than the other. I reject the term out of hand, it's a SJW term designed to shame you into doing what they want, as if my desire to own a computer is somehow "responsible" for kids climbing over shitheaps of toxic computer waste in Ghana to scavenge shreds of copper and gold from waste electronics. My "responsibility" goes only so far as to pay the producer the agreed upon price for any commodity, item, goods or service. Beyond that, if I do not want to do business with a producer for whatever reason, that is my choice.

Why don't you go and peddle your citizen disarmament schemes to the million plus dead in Rwanada, killed for belonging to a different funny named tribe, helpless and utterly disarmed, most of whom whacked to death by machetes and knives. You Bolsheviks want to disarm us, by us I mean the last remnant of freedom folks, the mostly rural, mostly white people that are putting ourselves into early graves desperately trying to keep the wheels on this train wreck of a society that people like you have gone a long way towards destroying, the vast, vast majority of whom have never hurt anybody with our firearms, while at the same time demanding that we open our doors to millions and millions of migrants from countries where genocides have happened in recent history, and then poo-poo our legitimate consternation at these two facts, while at the same time whipping up leftist Bolsheviks mobs and fellow travelers in the streets and in academia and in media that are calling for a genocide against us. Let me address that, very simply: go and fuck yourself. You want my guns? Come and get them.

Again, I am not in favor of these subsidies. But if you want to attack a worthless government agriculture subsidy, attack the energy sinkhole that is ethanol and corn. Because of corn and ethanol subsidies, we now have gasoline that is less efficient, billions in increased food costs, millions in damages to engines and fuel systems, and, under NAFTA, the utter destruction of the small shareholder Mexican corn farmer, which has led to the collapse of the Mexican state and a narco-state in it's place, and the immigration crisis that turned our nation upside down, just to name a few things. All to create ethanol to put in gasoline that is a net energy loss. Yes, it takes more energy to grow, transport, distill, blend, and transport again, a gallon of ethanol, that what that unit of fuel produces when burned in an internal combustion engine..

All food products carry some risk. That said, I do not think dairy products are unhealthy, I find that to be a false statement. I think the "alternatives" may have greater health risks, which I backed up with charts showing declining life spans and increased obesity and diabetes as simple, wholesome dairy, meats and cheeses are replaced by frankenfoods, "macroorganics" and other heavily processed "alternatives" to these simple, safe and tasty food choices that have been feeding mankind for 50,000 years. And what, exactly does "responsible" mean? If not outright false, it is very ambiguous and shadowy in meaning.

Natural milk is good for you & farmer/ranchers usually take good care of their animals. The problem is gov running the food market and making things like raw milk illegal. Get the gov out of everything and watch the industry, as well as consumers, get healthy

"Could you please try to understand the opinions you're stooping to name-calling over?" - Nope. An opinion is based on fact. He has no facts. He's just spewing liberal bullshit to stir crap up.

LIke it or not, SCOTUS never said corporations were people. SCOTUS never said corporations have the same rights that people do. If people are too stupid and / or lazy to actually read what the court said they deserve to be ridiculed and mocked.

He can have an opinion about whether people in groups lose their rights just because they join a group. But refusing to acknowledge that at no point did the court say the group had rights means he isn't basing his opinion on reality. Therefore he isn't worthy if anything other than ridicule, and is also e too stupid to properly represent the liberty movement.

Fuck him and his liberal thinking.

Hey - regarding your post on tech, I agree in full. Idunno if you know, but I intend to get out of society completely with my wife and going to live on unclaimed or, ideally, gov't-"owned" land and essentially starting our own country with our family.

I dislike how tech. has been used by society, but I blame society, not tech. and wish society could work with tech, but I don't think it can. This is why I'm leaving society. That solar forge sounds incredibly cool. I plan on loading up with books (e-books, mostly) and going with my wife to live in a cave essentially and we've been going over all sorts of plans to utilize the technology we can afford now to make our lives easier, but I think a lot of the technology used now has made Americans in general fat, boring, and stupid as all fuck.

I wish technology would be utilized to give us more time to think and allow us to expand our minds. I hope I can help facilitate that and intend to write extensively on our experiment. We have a kid (and more on the way, ideally) on the way, so there will hopefully be a lot to write about. My wife's more the scientist and I'm just a writer and philosopher. I'm so excited to share my experiences and we're just waiting on the birth of our first child.

-- I'm going way off-topic. Anyway, I just wanted to say I really appreciate your post and hope you'll post more in the future. I had no idea you were so creative and independent. I hope to see more of that, and more of you. I hope you'll share more of your own experiences because I believe in leading through example and I think you're a great speaker for the cause of individualism.

To your question, I am not at all involved with society atm. I am unemployed except through my political volunteer positions in helping maintain websites. I worked, but I can't anymore knowing what it does -- and I also have a lot of social anxieties which discourage me from working at a "normal" job. Otherwise, we're working on fixing our house up to sell it and eventually want to get out of society completely so we don't have to fund this disgusting government causing the unnecessary deaths of civilians and military personnel.

I hope to have more to share with you soon and just wanted to you to know how refreshing I found your post today.

Idunno where you live, but I'd be interested in you and us having a beer together sometime to facilitate an open discussion.

    All the best,

    Ben
