FFS I don't "hate" you. It's called a disagreement...in America that's still allowed. I just don't think that plan would work. Maybe I'm wrong. YMMV And Carter still managed to pull off some bad stunts, like not backing out of the Panama Canal treaty which has now, 50 years later, allowed the Chinese to buy up critical infrastructure in the canal zone.

A landslide for Trump? That's not what the polling data says...not by a long shot. RCP's polling aggregate has him up by only half a percent.

No I am not. I specifically addressed that here: I never said it was a huge increase. I never said that was the only reason for the increase.

Working Poor Try this - https://www.wgbh.org/search?q=jazz+decades&s=0 The Classical station I mentioned earlier had a four hour Saturday night classic jazz program that was outstanding, I have failed to find any of it online. But WGBH's Jazz Decades was almost as good.

A beautiful story to accompany a beautiful piece. The proper work at the proper time can pierce the soul and, to quote F. Murray Abraham: "these were compositions from a trained monkey. This was God, speaking directly to me, through those measured half notes." Do you know the story being told in this opera?

People are starting to get off their asses, and the clown show is the reason why. Reinstalling Trump is more likely to cause them to sit their lazy asses down again. That's why Trump is being set up to pull down an honest, undeniable landslide, so we will sit down and do nothing while they build FEMA camps. If not, I do think that the swamp will drain him. Regardless of whether he goes in intending to drain it, he will have to. Deciding not to could be the last thing he ever does.

I do not expect to get better results or different results than 2016-2020. Right now I'll settle for no wars, some regulation relief, and transqueeers not running around naked on the White House lawn, and just another day to try and get my fellows citizens off their collective asses and do something. At this rate, if nothing changes, we'll all be silenced or in prison in another four years.

That's what I have been saying all along is the fallacy of MAGA. Politicians did not make America great in the first place, and as it has cycled up and down, they were never the ones who made it great again. You think Trump sucks at picking only the best people. I think he picked the team that would do what he wanted to do. Either way, it doesn't matter much. Government needs purged. Trump is not the hand grenade so many people thought he was in 2016. He didn't even rise to the level of a monkey wrench in the Deep State works. Reinstalling him and expecting a different result looks to me like collectively living the definition of insanity. Will RFKJr. do better? That's something we don't already know. But we do know that he, very much unlike Trump, Must Not Be Named. And I came away from 2008 and 2016 considering that a very good sign. Another pair of signs I see also gives me food for thought. Trump has not only demonstrated a willingness (maybe even a desire) to resort to draconian measures, and his base loves him for it. They accept the necessity of draconian actions when he does them without question and treat anyone who does ask questions the way liberals treat dissenters.

In 2012 there were 1.14 people killed per 100 million VMT. The estimated fatality rate for 2023 is 1.26. 1.14 is more than 1.26. Yes, it has fallen from 2022 rate, and I already noted that. Come back and call me an asshole in five years, if those trends continue.

There's no disputing that Kennedy is correct here. Trump did all those things and more, furthermore, for supposedly being this ace business man who knows how to build winning teams and appoint quality subordinates, he is one of the worst I have ever seen. That said, even though he may be attacking "from the right", Kennedy is no conservative, populist, or an "American Firster". I do not need a "leader", what I need is a representative, a mouthpiece. I know what needs to be done in my life and the life of my country.

And even if there are more drivers, that doesn't mean there is more driving. As OPEC taught us in 1974.

The great thing about having my first principles straightened out is it's easy to make absolutely correct snap judgments. This is all I need to know, straight from his pen: There are only two majority opinions on this. The first position is you never defund a government program, at all. Maybe there's a need sometimes for an external entity like an uber-powerful superpower to invade and topple your government and put in all new programs that will never be defunded, but the idea of removing funding from a program is otherwise anathema. The second position is you call for defunding a program you really don't like, and score some political points off of calling for defunding, but never actually tie it off. So it's the same as the first position but with some lie theater to advance some parasite's personal lot in life. Both positions are abhorrent and we've seen both expressed in articles in this thread. I didn't read the whole article and I don't need to - he's clearly in the first category, and that's all I need to know.

The DC area NPR affiliate does pretty well with their playlists, but there's still the Saturday afternoon opera. I love classical music, even going into some of the modernist stuff, but opera, in general, may as well be Noh theater to me. As my dad used to say: hours of caterwauling with a nice aria in between. Then one beautiful spring Saturday morning last year, I was inexpertly making up some way-too-strong CBD oil from a not-low THC strain and accidentally licked my fingers before going to Hobby Lobby. And while I was sitting in the parking lot too scared to go inside, I heard this: I had one of those moments of profound beauty that was carved into my entire soul for life, and NPR's crappy programming was responsible. I can't hate on it entirely.

That is where your error is. Just because there are more people, does not mean there are more drivers. In fact, licensed drivers have decreased at times, even as the population grows. There were a total of 228,195,802 licensed drivers in the US in 2020, a decrease of 0.21% or 483,917 licensed drivers from 2019. By 2023 estimated growth grew again, but only by 2 percent.

Using per capita is an inaccurate way of measuring fatalities or accidents. We have more people in the country, but more and more do not drive, especially young people. You measure them the same way you measure air traffic or rail fatalities, by miles traveled. But my source, wiki collecting NTSB data, directly contradicts yours. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_vehicle_fatality_rate_in_U.S._by_year

And neither side will ever mention that Trump assassinated a general of a country we're not at war with, while the general was officially visiting another country we're not at war with. It doesn't really matter who he was or what he was doing - if those were facts on the ground, that's the sort of thing that not very long ago in history would have invited reprisals like collecting all the hands and feet of everyone in an entire city and throwing them in a pile and watching them all bleed out. If there's one thing Trump did during his presidency, it was to show that Iran is absolutely not the boogeyman everyone thinks they are. If they were, they had every casus belli they needed to be the worst boogeyman they could be on that occasion.

Well, boys, we've reduced him to spamming like a cracked vinyl record again. Suppose he really thinks spamming us will cause us to unsee the difference between uniform tariffs and protectionist tariffs? Suppose he really thinks spamming us will cause us to unsee the fact that tariffs couldn't possibly raise the amount of money Trump gave Big Pharma to poison us?

And how do you propose to make that happen? Ron Paul is weaker than you because he has been in Congress and tried to really do real things, while you are almighty like every armchair quarterback. Only thing is, he lives in the real world. You just go around accusing others of having unrealistic theories, while shoveling your own. Did the word "uniform" go in one of your eyes and out the other? Wasn't there anything in between to slow it down?

Show me where Ron Paul said enacting a tariff automatically ends other taxes, and/or where Trump (not you) proposed a package deal of that type. Show me where Ron Paul called for intranational tariffs and state customs agencies.

"Could you please try to understand the opinions you're stooping to name-calling over?" - Nope. An opinion is based on fact. He has no facts. He's just spewing liberal bullshit to stir crap up.

LIke it or not, SCOTUS never said corporations were people. SCOTUS never said corporations have the same rights that people do. If people are too stupid and / or lazy to actually read what the court said they deserve to be ridiculed and mocked.

He can have an opinion about whether people in groups lose their rights just because they join a group. But refusing to acknowledge that at no point did the court say the group had rights means he isn't basing his opinion on reality. Therefore he isn't worthy if anything other than ridicule, and is also e too stupid to properly represent the liberty movement.

Fuck him and his liberal thinking.

Hey - regarding your post on tech, I agree in full. Idunno if you know, but I intend to get out of society completely with my wife and going to live on unclaimed or, ideally, gov't-"owned" land and essentially starting our own country with our family.

I dislike how tech. has been used by society, but I blame society, not tech. and wish society could work with tech, but I don't think it can. This is why I'm leaving society. That solar forge sounds incredibly cool. I plan on loading up with books (e-books, mostly) and going with my wife to live in a cave essentially and we've been going over all sorts of plans to utilize the technology we can afford now to make our lives easier, but I think a lot of the technology used now has made Americans in general fat, boring, and stupid as all fuck.

I wish technology would be utilized to give us more time to think and allow us to expand our minds. I hope I can help facilitate that and intend to write extensively on our experiment. We have a kid (and more on the way, ideally) on the way, so there will hopefully be a lot to write about. My wife's more the scientist and I'm just a writer and philosopher. I'm so excited to share my experiences and we're just waiting on the birth of our first child.

-- I'm going way off-topic. Anyway, I just wanted to say I really appreciate your post and hope you'll post more in the future. I had no idea you were so creative and independent. I hope to see more of that, and more of you. I hope you'll share more of your own experiences because I believe in leading through example and I think you're a great speaker for the cause of individualism.

To your question, I am not at all involved with society atm. I am unemployed except through my political volunteer positions in helping maintain websites. I worked, but I can't anymore knowing what it does -- and I also have a lot of social anxieties which discourage me from working at a "normal" job. Otherwise, we're working on fixing our house up to sell it and eventually want to get out of society completely so we don't have to fund this disgusting government causing the unnecessary deaths of civilians and military personnel.

I hope to have more to share with you soon and just wanted to you to know how refreshing I found your post today.

Idunno where you live, but I'd be interested in you and us having a beer together sometime to facilitate an open discussion.

    All the best,

    Ben
