You can still run trade deficits on a gold standard. And if you do, you run the risk of losing all of your gold which is why Nixon closed the gold window in 1972. And if gold is your money and you run out of it- what do you do then? The US will not return to a gold standard. At market value, based on the price of September 2017, our gold reserves are worth $335 billion. https://www.fiscal.treasury.gov/fsreports/rpt/goldRpt/current_report.htm Our trade deficit? $566 billion in 2017. We could give it all away in just one year if our trading partners demanded gold payments for our trade deficit. Then we are right back where we started with zero gold reserves. And still have the same trade deficit.

I didn't say we should do it, I just said that if your goal was stimulation, that would be a better way to go about it. The tax cuts were sold as benefiting the average American but instead they benefited only the wealthy and added to the debt problem. I was against the Trump cuts because they will increase our debt plus the economy doesn't need any stimulation these days. That will only lead to more price inflation at this point. That quote was trying to explain that tax cuts don't lead to higher tax revenues for the government. Rand said the tax cuts should be offset by spending cuts to avoid increasing the debt but the spending wasn't cut and he voted for the tax cuts anyways.

What I said was "if you wanted to cut taxes to spur economic growth" you are better off giving money to poorer people than rich since people at lower incomes are more likely to spend it while the rich are more likely to put it away someplace like purchasing stocks.

Ender of all people? ;) My life has been spent helping people through real education and arts. And I absolutely believe that Public "Education" should be done away with. Even most private schools sign up with the gov for certain benefits & then have to abide by gov rules such as Common Core- or whatever the official indoctrination method is at the moment. Any "public" schools should only be done on a local community level & most private schools would become financially reasonable. And, of course, homeschooling- especially for grammar school age, is THE best option, IMHPOV.

Cool stuff, I think we should import some hyena men to America, some of our bigger cities such as SF, NY and LA could use some street performers such as them.

Interesting...... The key word in the Trump-Kim show By reaffirming the Panmunjom Declaration, the US President has committed to bringing its military back from South Korea and thus a complete denuclearization of the South as well as the North. By PEPE ESCOBAR JUNE 13, 2018 The Trump-Kim geopolitical reality-TV show – surreal for some – offered unparalleled entries to the annals of international diplomacy. It will be tough to upstage the US President pulling an iPad and showing Kim Jong-un the cheesy trailer of a straight-to-video 1980s B-grade action movie – complete with a Sylvester Stallone cameo – casting the two leaders as heroes destined to save the world’s 7 billion people.

And you do not pay attention to the Divide & Conquer ploy that is engulfing America but march right along with it. We must stop this bickering "my sides good and your sides evil" nonsense & learn to stand together. It ain't the immigrants, the left, the right, but EVERYONE letting themselves be sucked into The Matrix and believing they know what's really going on, when it ain't even close.

My red bars were a gift from a friend. But I don't care about bars. OK. This is a start. The person should say they consider themselves unemployed. BLS asks people if they want a job or not in their figures. We can toss out those in the "employed" category in the chart. We can also get rid of the "don't want a job" category. That leaves 5.6%. Shadowstats says about 22% so he is way off. We can reject his figures but we can keep the grey line in his chart- the U-6 unemployment. The U-6 measures those and also counts those who are part time but want more hours. That is currently 7.6%. That is at its lowest point on his chart since at least 2000 and was about 17% during the recession- a significant improvement for no jobs being added.

Sorry. You are right. We are always in recession. There is never any good economy. Unemployment and inflation are all triple digits. Always. But gold will solve all of that. Yes, I do disagree with Ron Paul on economics. Some here disagree with him on other things like immigration and border walls. I don't agree with anybody on everything. I don't follow whatever anybody says blindly. (and I am not the only one). So, back to the discussion. How many of the people in the chart would you consider "unemployed"? Which groups? How do you define unemployment? Anybody not working for whatever reason? If so, we have about 40% unemployment. Is there a preferred time limit to not be looking for work before we decide a person isn't interested in getting a job? Is a year too short?

Posts favoring gun control? Links? On immigration- I guess the only alternatives are "Fortress USA" with impregnable fortification and guards every six feet vs completely open borders? I feel our security is good enough now and that we gain little if anything by spending even more on it. It just expands the police state (which I thought Libertarians were opposed to- Ron Paul is not a big fan of it either) and adds to the debt to pay for it. https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/ron-paul-on-trumps-border-wall-totally-useless http://articles.latimes.com/2012/feb/01/news/la-pn-ron-paul-nevada-latino-forum-20120201

Which of those people should be counted as unemployed? http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/03/07/employment-vs-unemployment-different-stories-from-the-jobs-numbers/ That bottom number (35.2%) is where we find our "not in the labor force" people- including students, stay at home parents, volunteer caregivers, retired persons, etc. They have not looked for a job in at least a year. The 2.5% "employed part time for economic reasons" are people who are working part time but would like to be working more hours.

BLS counts anybody age 16 and older as "working age". They don't toss you out when you hit 65- you only don't count as "working age" when you are dead. Retired or working, they are considered "working age". If they are retired, they are not in the labor force since they are aren't working and aren't looking for work. But if you want to exclude anybody of retirement age from the "not working" category you just reduced your 100 million in it to about 50 million. Add in stay at home parents and those taking care of others and you have almost everybody besides the retired people so if you reject counting retired people as not counting as "working age" then almost everybody in the "not in the labor force" is covered (all but 0.9% of the population according to the charts Firestarter posted above). If you are not looking for a job, you are not counted as in the labor force and thus are not considered "unemployed". If you applied to Uber, you are.

My good friend told me that her grandpa would to tell her as a child that if a white sailor fell into the sea during WWII that dolphins would save them; but if a Japanese fell into the sea that they would lead the sharks to them instead -- because the Japanese eat dolphin. this upset her greatly as she was Japanese and loved dolphins.

So which state do Republicans need to win the most voters in? Based on that, Minneapolis may have the lead though the weather sucks. If you want to go where there is the least opposition, probably Raleigh. Boston and Philly already crowded but Boston closer to DC.

Please stop posting in my threads. Ok? you arent an libertarian since that is the case here just what are you doing here then? in fact if you truly support Ron Paul's movement just what have you done since 2008?

In one of the threads that i had posted on Dec 3 you desperately tried on defending the Ukrainian opposition while as i pointed on the thread how your beloved Ukrainian opposition are nothing more then a bunch of parties with a history of having Nazism Ideology. This is not your first time, you also defended the Syrian Rebels and what for again?

I lived in Europe you haven't. I have family in Europe do you? doubtfully. Before you can claim that the EU is more freer ok then why dont you go there and stay there in the EU for a couple months and see if you can find a job?

I did. I honestly think it best to have a gentlemen's agreement to just stay away from eachother. I appreciate the fact that you believe in what you are doing, there's no way you would be posting so much if you didn't. I also believe in what I am doing. Start new threads linking to and countering my threads if you want. I will stay out of them. Sound like a good solution?

Please stop posting in my threads. We will never agree on anything. I do not care what you do in other people's threads. Please leave my threads alone. I won't ever even mention your name or reply to any of your posts, just please stay out of the threads I start. They make up less than 1% of the threads started here. You have plenty of other threads to occupy your time.
