I don't think anything is more insulting to the nomination process than the Democratic party's superdelegate system.

I've seen it attributed to Ben Franklin. Of course there's so many sources on the internet either embellishing what the founders said or trying to discredit them, it's sad that we are losing our history. "When the people discover they can vote themselves money, it will herald the end of the republic."

I don't see this being much different than raising the minimum wage. New Problem: The dollar isn't buying as much as it used to. Solution: Give people more money. Sometimes I think California taxpayers have some form of battered wife syndrome. That weather must be really nice to put up with this stuff from their government and not pack their shit up and leave. That whole state should have turned into Detroit a long time ago, but it's the stubbornness of people who seem content to be parasite-infected hosts who keep it breathing.

Heh. I wish the other side would fight back with equal vigor. 'Moderation' is so over-rated. "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice, and moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue."

There's some benefit to this. Hillary wouldn't have given Rand the time of day. I'll admit I'm a bit leery of why Trump is so buddy-buddy with Rand. So long as he has a platform, I hope he'll use it.

That was a great interview from Sen. Paul (not that I'm surprised). He schooled those panelists so much that they looked like they were ready to leave for recess. Their questions were loaded and misleading, but Sen. Paul still knocked them out the park. I'll bet they had to Google "economies of scale" after his interview. :D

Pick something other than health insurance. Amazon, for example. I order something online and it gets delivered from a warehouse in Texas to me here in Georgia. It's a fairly simple transaction, no one gets up in arms about it. The fed.gov doesn't become a leviathan because I bought something, and the state of Georgia doesn't become weaker. The can of worms remains sealed. The cat stays in the bag. It's a simple transaction. So why does free market economics suddenly not apply when people are talking about health insurance? Interstate commerce already exists. It's only health insurance that we've put in a bubble and tried to shield from competition.

I think you're misinterpreting it pretty badly. The Feds already have the power to regulate interstate commerce. The original intent was to prevent states from having trade wars with each other. Of course, we know how awful Washington is at guessing original intent. I'm quite surprised they got it right with this one. (well, Rand and Trump did, the rest of them are probably hopeless, and Trump probably wouldn't have thought of it if not for that gnat Rand Paul who keeps flying into Trumps ear, lol) I don't see this as being any different than buying cigarettes on the other side of a state border. People should be free to do that. If the state with exorbitant cigarette taxes has a problem with it, they can go eat a bag of dicks for being so stupid with their taxes.

The problem with mandates is that if the insurance companies are f'king you over you can't really just say to hell with them and apply market pressure. The insurance companies have people by the balls right now. Actually, the IRS has people by the balls on behalf of the insurance companies, so it's actually a bit worse. The customers aren't blameless, either. One cost-driver for insurance premiums is using the ER for every little sniffle and scrape. I would wager that at least 90% of the patients who come through the ER where I work aren't experiencing a true emergency. Much of the stuff we treat could and should wait for a clinic visit in the morning that might cost $50 out-of-pocket versus the $600 that gets charged just for walking through the ER's doors. Australia's "ER abuse" has gotten so bad some hospital systems have started running ads as if to try to dissuade people from coming to the ER. I wish like hell our hospital system would do this:

Ripping the band-aid off sucks, but it's gotta be done. The wound is festering. I'm actually surprised that Trump has the balls to do this. It's gonna be rough for markets to adjust (just as it was when the ACA went into effect), and the media is going to rake him face-down over the coals for the short-term negative consequences, but they already use him as a punching bag anyway. Maybe he figured he has nothing to lose.

Not trying to nit-pick, but what's with the 'discrimination' talk when it comes to pre-existing conditions? Does anyone even remember how insurance is supposed to work?

The patient whose rights she was trying to protect died. I'd be curious to know what he would think of his 'brother' in blue, Mr. Payne, if he had been aware of what was going on. The Rigby Police Dept. came out in support of the nurse's actions. Based on their department's facebook page, with the posts about lost dogs being found, it looks more like Mayberry. Not trying to be insulting, we could use more Mayberrys.

Eh, they want to break away from Spain but immediately want to go suck the EU's dick. Put them in the pile with Scotland. Edit: Yes I know what the information in the OP says but I'll believe it when I see it. If this actually works out for Catalonia, and then they do something dumb like go surrender their new-found independence to the EU, they might as well have stayed with Spain.

3.0 probably came closest to the truth. Words on paper don't mean anything unless people actually enforce it. In civic terms, yes government has a monopoly on force. But, a more timid example would be the Ron Paul forum rules and guidelines. They don't mean squat unless a moderator or administrator chooses to enforce them. As soon as they start letting things slide, the forum becomes a free-for-all and whoever can spam the most garbage or call the most names is declared the winner. Anarchy ensues, for better but usually for worse, as you end up with 100-page threads with 2 or 3 people going at it and misinterpreting or misrepresenting everything that is said.

Again I'm gonna go back to my mother's voting tendencies, or lack thereof. She voted for the first time in two decades last November. For Trump. And really, it had nothing to do with Trump, but she was tired of the media's bias, constant race-baiting, and she thought Hillary Clinton was a bitch. When my mother is pissed off enough to go out and vote, I know that leftist America has fu*ked up. You may see it as anecdotal, but I see it as a sign and I'm certain she wasn't the only one driven to the polls by idiot liberals. These protests aren't helping at all. And now, instead of these players making millions and having the influence to actually go out into poor black communities and show people the way out of poverty, they will become irrelevant.

To be honest, I can find more in common and have at least a respectful conversation with your average conservative voter.. The GOP establishment, on the other hand, won't hesitate to stomp a mud hole in my rear end. The average liberal voter is too busy screaming or crying to be able to get a word in, and I've never personally encountered the Democratic establishment and hope to keep it that way.

It's times like these I wish I had still had cable just so I could cancel it. I just hate the hypocrisy. Forget patriotism, forget 'oppression', forget nationalism, forget Trump. ESPN is just another outlet for brainwashing the masses to only ever hear one side. I seem to recall a certain Tim Tebow was roasted over a fire pit for kneeling and praying. He was skewered, gutted, chastised, ostracized, etc. etc. No, we can't have that, someone might get offended. Fast forward to last Sunday and it's suddenly okay for football players to take a knee to protest white folk killing black folk at a rate much lower than black folk killing other black folk. Moments later, a Steelers player goes out and stands up during the national anthem. Oh, wait, it's not okay anymore. Go read this apology in front of the cameras.

Once again, the media is trying to persuade Sen. Paul to vote for Graham-Cassidy's Obamacare bill, but all he does is put Lindsey Graham in his place. Way to hold your ground, Rand!

I found out long ago that the best way to donate is directly. I used to donate annually to some firefighter's fund but one day I looked them up and found that they only really made a few purchases for fire departments "in need" and most of them went to big cities where you wouldn't expect the greatest need to be. So I just cut a check to the local volunteer fire department and tell them I expect to see some new equipment if I ever call them. I still can't be quite sure if the money is used wisely but at least there is no middleman to help mismanage things.
