But that's exactly my point. If anyone on this planet doubts that the USA will protect it's people, then they've been living under a rock. We have nothing to prove. We can just come home. It would be the much wiser choice.

Honestly I didn't even know what an "incel" was until I read this thread. I can't be bothered to go out of my way to learn the lingo of my fellow millennials. But now I know. I did manage to figure out that I was a MGTOW before MGTOW was a thing. I'd be lying if I said I don't get lonely at times and I have, in my 30s, found myself wondering what my final years will be like, but I'm disheartened by online dating where every damn profile you click on, the woman is saying, in all caps, "I HAVE KIDS AND MY KIDS COME FIRST AND IF YOU CAN'T ACCEPT IT THEN KEEP LOOKING". Those women will likely never find what they are looking for. You're not going to find any species of mammal on this earth where the male is going to readily accept offspring that aren't theirs. If they do accept them, they're doing it because they love the woman, so the man in that case would not truly be putting the kids first; why should the woman insist on it? Thing about that is, most people who are happily married don't even put their kids first, at least not in such strongly-worded ways. These people truly value the bond between man and wife and as a result are much more likely to form healthy families as a result, which obviously the kids benefit from.

This is true. The way I see it: We really don't have anything to prove. If anyone doubts the military power of the USA then they've been living under a rock for the past couple-hundred years. So all the bravado seems rather unnecessary. The troops shouldn't be there in the first place so all the huzzah about killing a guy who was planning attacks to get us out of the middle east seems altogether unnecessary, especially when the alleged plan is for us to leave anyway.

It probably has nothing to do with not wanting to shoulder a bunch of kids that aren't their own. Or does not wanting to have to take care of someone else's kids make a terrorist out of a person?

What other party can he get the nomination in? With all due respect, if you know, stop holding out on us. Rand has transformed minds within the party. Yes, it is true, that public opinion can be fragile, and people tend to resort to following the leader, regardless of party D, R, or even L if it ever managed to get someone into a leadership position. I think Free Republic is a very LOUD portion of the party but like with liberals loudest does NOT mean largest.

Trump needs to fire his advisors and like Rand is saying he should go with his instincts. I was rooting for him in October when he refused to escalate the situation after Iran shot down a drone. He was profoundly wise on that matter. This does seem like a huge step back. I'll give him credit where it's due, but I don't believe in participation trophies, either. He needs to clean house.

Chuck Todd must have whacked his head on something hard. That guy has always been a douche-bag during interviews but this was actually the most professional I've ever seen him.

Your points are taken but I can't shake the notion that we're being attacked because we're over there, and the people who are advising the president to send more troops over there KNOW DAMN WELL they serve as a powder keg. I hope you're right though. Maybe, MAYBE Soleimani had so much power and influence that he became a concern even for Iranian leaders and their retaliatory strike that killed no one, and was forecasted by the Iranians, was just more of trying to appease war-hawks in Iran so we could find a stopping point.

it was all a world stage theatrical move. Iran purposely did not strike or kill anyone when launching missiles, it was a big show

I think Soleimani was a bad guy, but if he was a general in the Iranian army then he answered to somebody, and they should have put diplomatic pressure on Iran to reign him in. I'm so tired of these people not looking beyond or caring what happens down the road after we get rid of a 'bad guy' and another void is left to fill.

Rand is really the best shot we've got. Sadly I don't think he will run again. Who would want to, if you're going to have stones thrown at you from even people behind you?

I don't think so. There's still a very large neocon faction in the Republican party, but like with liberals, screaming loudly doesn't equal a majority.

Ron took some bad advice. Granted, nothing that could have provoked a war. Well, maybe a war of words on RPF. Those were dark days. It happens though. Not everyone is a stellar judge of character.

The irony to me is that 30 years ago the Iranians and the Iraqis were fighting each other. We gotta come up with a better plan than uniting everyone against us. Probably if all our troops left the middle east tomorrow, the countries and people there would find some excuse to start killing each other. Saudi Arabia wants for whatever reason to attack Yemen. I'm fine with that. "Whatever," says I. Fk'em. But they can do it without our help, or interference.

Until Bernie Sanders starts addressing monetary policies that challenge the authority of the Federal Reserve over our currency, he will never bring about economic freedom, nor more of a free market than we have now. And I'm pretty sure that Sanders is pro-Fed. That point aside, your point is moot, anyway. It's not the POTUS' role to implement any style of economy in America; that's the role of private individuals and groups, through voluntary associations in the marketplace. You're advocating for an economy where we have masters who control the means of production and consumption, while everyone else lives at the behest of those means. That is slavery, and it has no place in a serious conversation about public policy.

Always remember that our government officials are just reflections of the people whom they claim to represent and serve. If we have bad politicians in office, then it's because we have bad electorates who have allowed it to happen through their own ignorance and negligence. As much as I hate to cite this man, Bill Maher once said to Dr. Ron Paul, "If America was a smarter country, wouldn't you be leading in the polls?" Sadly, statesmen like Dr. Paul rarely gain traction in political races these days, and that's because most voters have a slave mentality when it comes to how state and federal governments function. Ultimately, though, the problem resides in individuals' worldviews about the nature of civics.

We do have a choice, though. There are plenty of organizations and leaders around the world that threaten to attack the U.S., but those threats are neither ethical nor logical reasons to start preemptive wars against them. Until they strike upon our soil, we have no business initiating force towards them. At best, we should be diplomatic (and cautious, for sure) in trying to talk with them for the purposes of intelligence, but launching bombs on them because they have a creed of "Die, America!" is no different than shooting someone because he insulted your family.

There is no Constitutional justification for that objective. Period. Our country was not built to police around the world, nor to get involved in the civil affairs of foreign nations. If you refuse to understand that much, then I don't want to hear you ever again on these forums complaining about abuses of government power when it comes to domestic affairs in the U.S.
