I don't think it's crazy talk but I don't know how well it would function. Aside from a few very wealthy people forming their own militias as they did in history (think George Washington funding a small squadron of sloops and schooners), most folks don't really have the resources (and even Washington couldn't do it long-term, just long enough to buy time for the colonies and Continental Congress to form their armies and militias). I think a lot of people get the idea that you go from a few good ol boys shooting pop cans on a fence post, to somehow being a viable organized force, and that's laughable. Modern day, we've got wealthy people like Musk and Gates, but we know which side they're on. To be honest, if we truly had an organized militia as we did in the 18th and 19th centuries, there would be much moaning and wailing. "Whattaya mean I got a mandatory training session this weekend?!!!" And yet, that's how it functioned. It was the law. And the vast majority of it was organized at the state level.

It's even worse than that. As Tim points out correctly, liberals don't realize that states like NY or California are far more down the road towards gestapo than DeSantis. As they screech about "nazi!!!" from their mandatory quarantine lockdowns proudly displaying their 5-pages-worth-of-boosters vaccination cards required for obtaining basic life needs. Only thing that gets me is a few million dollars for a few hundred people doesn't sound very cost-effective unless there is a lot more involved in reforming the guard than manpower. Is he gonna be buying planes and artillery and shit? Edit: well maybe it is if he's looking to establish a permanent command structure

I imagine the trick would be to find a black owned business that didn't get a loan from a white-owned bank. Unless it is maybe a minor business, like auto detailing that doesn't require a whole lot of start-up investment.

It won't be if it manages to stay limited. But, I'm just guessing based a few hundred years of history it won't. Used to be you couldn't vote in this country unless you owned property. We expanded that, and now everyone who doesn't have property votes to take from those who do. it won't happen overnight, until . . . one day it does.

Well, within the next few weeks, on Thanksgiving, I will have been without a paycheck for exactly 1 year. I'd like to be able to say that 'I'm sticking it to the man', that Uncle Sam is gonna be so disappointed next April because I've broken the matrix, and that I'm doing my little part to bring the leviathan to its knees. But in truth, I can't keep this up forever, the savings are dwindling down, and I will likely have to re-enter the workforce sometime around new year's. Uncle Sam will have been un-phased by my little tax protest, and I'll have to choose between my health and being able to sustain myself. It has been nice telling myself that at least I'm not working to support the leeches, but that's just what I'm telling myself. The reality is I've had no impact at all.

I would imagine if I were on this jury I would have to ask to be recused due to the sheer stupidity of the arguments coming from the prosecution. I don't know much about the law but has there ever been an instance where a jury decided that the case before them was so utterly imbecilic that it ought to be a crime to make anyone suffer through it? Not exactly, nullification, but more like WTF-ification?

Republicans don't do that. They protest at the U.S. capitol. And are uniformly hated by everyone for doing so.

I thought the judge already chastised the prosecutor for bringing up the curfew issue without being able to cite an ordinance or anything regarding a curfew.

IMO that looks like a jeep. Still more believable than cyber-tru—thing. I do like that bollinger actually has rims that don't light up like the circus is in town, which is apparently a mandatory feature on future vehicle designs. Mercedes douche-mobile.

Is this really speculative? Asking honestly because, at least there's a product involved with this. When I think of "speculative" I think of people who buy $100 worth of some new electronic currency valued at 1/2000th of a cent, and cash out a few years later with thousands (and thousands) of dollars. I have a lot of disdain for those people because from an economic standpoint it makes no sense. No product is moved, nothing is manufactured, no labor involved, and it is very, very hype-dependent. When the hype dies down, a lot of people are left holding the bag and don't even have any assets to write off. Now, I'm not a fan of these electric vehicles by any means and certainly not at $70,000+ dollars for a light duty truck, and when they throw in the self-driving features (which is coming I'm sure) they can set it on fire and roll it down a hill and I'll gladly trade it for a coupe DeVille. But, a lot of people are into this stuff. And this is actually something that can be manufactured and lead to productivity, versus just being some numbers punched in a computer somewhere. Though, I will reserve skepticism that a new EV manufacturer is quite possibly getting a gov't kickback somewhere under this new Greta-green-fanatical era we find ourselves in. It gets harder to have the moral fortitude to not buy into it though, when you see others getting rich off gimmicks.

I don't think they care. There was a small part of me that had hoped that the results of the Nov. elections might have put the brakes on this whole COVID vax madness, but they don't seem to be letting up (in fact doubling down with the Nov. 4th release of details for Biden's mandate). At least with populists, they do (somewhat) fear electoral repercussions. These guys on the other hand, are like 'damn the torpedoes' and it concerns me greatly (to put it mildly). I've never seen such blatant disregard for public opinion, and there have been some fairly tone-deaf moments throughout history.

Liberals melt down over Judge's ringtone (that might not even be what they think it is): https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/11/10/media-pounce-on-rittenhouse-judge-ringtone-usa-cross/ Listening to it again, it doesn't sound like any part of Greenwood's "God bless the USA". But that hasn't stopped liberals from calling for the removal of Judge Schroeder for his now 'obvious bias'

I understand the ETA bit. It is just a weird comment considering that prosecutors will make their decisions based on the political clout they think they can gain from it. 2020 saw a number of DAs letting violent rioters off the hook, because it was politically beneficial. That's the same reason they're going after Rittenhouse. There are a number of reasons you could support or condemn prosecutors, and Thaddeus seems to imply that team (R) always supports them and team (D) is always skeptical. The prosecutors in this case (thankfully) are pretty sloppy and likely believe that the media has won this case for them, but thankfully the judge doesn't seem to give a damn what the media thinks. (Considering the judge has a "God bless the USA" ringtone, I'm gonna guess he's probably not a liberal.)

Not usually in firearm related/self defense cases. That award for overzealous prosecution almost always goes to democrats, and this is no different. Seems to me Thaddeus tried to turn this into a "gotcha!" but failed miserably.

That's kind of broad, honestly. I mean are we supposed to weigh opinions based on whether or not we like prosecutors or, the merits (or lack thereof) of the case?

I'm trying to figure out what democrats would have to offer that rural voters would go for.
