I think the Bundy family had a lot of support when they stood up to the feds in Nevada, because it was seen as largely defensive in nature (they were seizing livestock that had been allowed to free-graze for a century), but he kind of blew all that public support with that weird Oregon wildlife refuge takeover thing, which was seen as something of a 'WTF'. I know I quit following them because they started acting like fools. No one in Oregon seemed to want them there. Unhappy with their victory in Nevada they wanted to keep pushing until they lost public support. (lesson to be learned because that's pretty much what happened to BLM., lose public support and unless the CIA is backing you, you're done.)

I disagree. You want to pass the destruction off to your kids and their kids?

It's entirely anecdotal but I think the polls are going to be less accurate than they were 4 years ago. I say my mother hadn't voted since she voted for Bill Clinton in 1992, but when she voted for Trump in 2016, she said it was because she got disgusted with being made to feel like she was a racist. The media hasn't slacked off on that, either. Racial tensions are higher today than they were in 2016, and the manufactured white-guilt is beginning to get old for a lot of folks. If Trump wins again, it'll have very little to do with policy, and more to do with ordinary, non-political people wanting to b*%ch slap the liberals for acting like intolerant a-holes. Those people don't care enough to answer pollsters. Gonna post this here, because it's going to be just as relevant in 2020 as it was in 2016, only the democratic candidate has changed, and the democrats still don't know how to engage people politically without pissing everyone off. Hmm. Last week the libertarian solution was to let people work these things out with street justice. No foul by those rules as far as I can tell. I think the next step is blood atonement, family feud, and/or tribal warfare. None of my business I guess in any case. The gods will surely have favored the victor.

In his defense they may not have sheriffs in Canada. I'm sure rules vary everywhere, but in Georgia in my county as a county volunteer firefighter, we were told that anyone in the city has the right to ask for county fire response in addition to their city fire department. People living in the city pay city and county taxes. However I don't think many people knew about that option. If they had I think it would have been used more, because in some areas of the city, county fire stations were closer. Most of the time for the really big fires, we had mutual aid and we were fortunate that political animosity never spilled over into our cooperation between agencies.

battles would probably take place on ground near and around trade routes like Panama Canal, Greenland , and Strait of Hormuz....South China Sea. We need to allow Japan full armament, and bring all troops back to the states for defensive positions

Yep. If there was ever a year where I felt the media was the biggest threat to our freedoms, 2020 has it in the bag.

Like I said, just flower girls at a wedding I guess. Riddle me this: When was the last time you saw conservatives punching random people just walking down the street? Have you ever seen one harass people at a protest and them mob up on them, trying to prevent them from leaving until they are so fearful of their safety they draw a gun and fire? (and then be charged by zealous liberal DAs) Thrown rocks at a hospital? At cars passing by?

I've weighed both sides, and I think I'm gonna come down on the side of the Weimar Republic against the Nazi street thugs, and let the chips fall where they may. I see a ton of parallels between what's going in these liberal hellholes and what happened in Germany in the 1930s. Basically that's what's been happening in these cities. Except they're not beating up Jews, they're just beating up anyone who doesn't agree with them. If the local police do actually arrest anyone for assault or destruction of property, the liberal city bureaucrats immediately set them free again, as long as they continue to intimidate political opponents. On top of that, the media has their back. You'd think these "protestors" were just flower girls at a wedding or something, according to MSNBC, CBS, CNN, and all the others. The fact that you think the officers don't have insignias or other identification on their uniforms is the media's doing. Their patches with badge numbers are located on their left shoulder. They don't have to read you your rights unless you are being interrogated. And frankly I don't blame them for not saying anything at all when they "snatch people up" because most of the local cops just get into an endless verbal loop with these idiots. It's not like they don't know that what they're doing is criminal, so there's honestly not much to talk about. They're not being arrested for their political beliefs. They're being arrested for arson, vandalism, and assault totaling millions of dollars worth of damage over the past several weeks.

I will admit that was my opinion as well, initially. However, it seems to be unreasonable when you take it to extremes. Someone stole your weed-whacker? Deal with it yourself. Bank committed fraud against you? Deal with it yourself. Someone murdered your kid? Deal with it yourself. These examples are the very reasons we have a government in the first place. Granted, 99.99999 percent of the time the government is out doing things it isn't supposed to be doing. Then it actually fulfills its purpose and someone comes on here trying to make us feel guilty because, well, we actually don't really mind. I'm sorry, but sometimes relying on a sudden groundswell of generic people to rise up and restore order just isn't practical. For one, we talk a lot of talk about how these things would play out in libertarianopia, but by and large it rarely happens, and even if it does happen, it doesn't always turn into the ideal outcome that so many people seem to think it would be. I mean, we all saw what CHOP/CHAZ/whatever looked like. No government for weeks, and by the time all the crackhead animals moved into the zoo, it didn't look like a destination I'd ask my travel agent to arrange a vacation for me. Supposing you could get a citizens militia to rise up and patrol the streets, it's not far fetched to think someone else raises one to contest your authority (I mean, what right do you have, after all?), and I'm just scratching my head as to how that is somehow less divisive than the people on here who claim we're just stuck in red team/blue team nonsense. Let's be clear: We're chastised for not reaching out to people on the left because we disagree with them now, but if the system breaks down and this plays out like I predict it will, it's somehow fine if we devolve into a 'might-makes-right' form of unofficial governance. Which, ironically, in essence, becomes a government by any other name. I just don't see it as a preferable outcome.

Honestly though, we've mentioned it in this thread before. Mob groups that use violence and intimidation for political gain are eerily similar to what happened in Germany in the 1930s. In fact the WORST of the tyrants on record used this strategy to come into power. They didn't just start at the top and slam everyone beneath them —too obvious. I don't care for police states. Get that straight. Incrementalism. Learn it. Liberals loving their violent mobs is every bit as harmful to liberty as the rightists supporting secret police. The only difference is that your burkas are different colors. Frankly we have been EXTREMELY and unduly tolerant of this mob behavior. In Atlanta, Mayor Bottoms, who apparently wants to be president one day, let the mob run wild on University Blvd until finally an 8 year old girl was shot dead just because her parent driving the car was trying to use the road like a normal person. It was black on black crime, but of course that didn't get near the amount of news media coverage as the black guy who was shot while trying to fire a taser at a white officer.

Two mid-20th century tyrannical leaders used mobs to come to power. This is what we're up against. No doubt there are a lot of politically ambitious mayors catering to these mobs hand-over-hand. I don't feel sorry for the Redshirts and Brownshirts.
