I'm confused by the phrase "drop out." There's less than a month before the convention and the primaries are over, so it isn't like anyone other than the delegates will have any part in the process. Are you thinking there's going to be some sort of really intense campaign race? The only 'poll' that matters is what happens on the convention floor on the day the delegates cast their votes. I'm expecting lots of shenanigans at the DNC this year. It's gonna make Sanders vs. Clinton, 2016 look like a pillow fight.

I think they did try challenging the DNC (not on racketeering, though) and the courts decided that political parties are private entities and can basically do what they want. (Just ignore the fact that the major parties' primaries are funded with public money, and they will, of course, assume public office once they're done with their 'private' nomination process)

Not like he was putting much energy into campaigning. I expect this will make very little difference.

Interesting given the plummeting ratings over the years. I sometimes wonder how much dark money is spent keeping them afloat.

Two thousand and twenty-three individuals is hardly a representative of what hundreds of millions of people actually believe about mainstream media outlets.

On the issues, it's wide open. Why was Tucker allowed to speak? He's directly at odds with the guy Matt Collins started a thread on. There's still a very real battle going on within the GOP, and it supersedes Trump. I would say you are the one who is looking at this too narrowly.

My point is that never in my lifetime have I seen the GOP as a more open forum than it is now. And we're sitting on the sidelines b*tching, as we usually do. I guess we're just going to let the neocons wiggle their way back into power.

Are you trying to convince Trump, or are you trying to win over the people? Narratives are shifting in the GOP. If we don't know how (or even attempt) to exploit that, we deserve every mediocre candidate that comes down the pipes in the future.

He probably could, today. 12 years ago, no. Actually I think he would be much more well-received, given the prime example of reckless inflationary money-printing practices that we've witnessed since.

Of course, Biden has COVID-19, and then they can springboard from his "Positive" case to continue the narrative that SARS-CoV-2 is on the rise again, which means the incoming drop boxes for "mail-in ballots" can be warranted in order to "keep people safe from its spread."

Why not? They all apparently followed the same directives to downplay an obvious assassination attempt as much as possible.

No. Though, there were some funny moments when some old white-haired ladies were curious to know how the piercing in his forehead was done. I'm sure they had never seen anything quite like him at a republican convention. As for the RNC speakers on Monday, I thought the Teamster's union guy's speech was more cringey, for some reason. I'm not sure that it means I'm against workers, but as he was speaking, I kept hearing "eat the rich." Like maybe he went a little overboard.

I carpooled with a pro-abortion liberal in 2012 as delegates to the GA state GOP convention. Just sayin. (it was an interesting conversation we had on the topic, but I don't think I changed his mind, and the last time I checked his Facebook, he's a flaming liberal now so . . . )

Do you think they're winning or losing, though?: (Not saying that David Sacks was influenced by Tucker's views on these endless wars, but Tucker has definitely made it "okay" to say these sort of things, and harder for the neocons to push back. The momentum for the message is there. It's just a matter of whether we're going to take advantage of it, or if we're going to whine amongst ourselves on some forum in some distant corner of the internet.)

I think we're going to look back on Tucker and realize just how instrumental he was in reaching republicans who still believe that projecting military might is the only way that we can be strong as a country. He's speeches are generally geared in such a way to make people think.

Saw it happen myself on Donald Trump's youtube channel (live coverage, no commentary). Most of the videos I'm finding on X cut the delay. It was so awkward. I feel bad for Kentucky, but then again I don't know why they keep putting Mitchy back in office so yeah.

Calls on the state of Kentucky. Mitch is supposed to be the speaker. Eternal delay follows. Woman next to him keeps cutting her eyes towards him like, "say something, for fk's sake." Starts to get booed by convention as he finally begins to speak, and rightfully so.

The thing is, they can't. They literally can't. You can't spend 8 years battering a man to the brink of disaster and then suddenly come out and pretend like you want civility. That's like going on air the day before the debate and telling everyone how Biden's mind is so sharp and then the day of the debate, turn right around and be like, 'oh no something happened to his brain, we might need someone else.' People see through that. It's so pathetically obvious at this point that they don't believe anything they're saying on air.

I'm not sure what they were so intently focused on. Both the marksman and the spotter appear to be looking in the same direction, which would make sense if they were already ID'ing a potential target. The whole point of having a spotter working alongside the marksman is to expand your coverage when looking for potential threats. If they're both looking at the same thing, that's tunnel-vision. Again, it would make sense if they were preparing to fire, but if they're just trying to stay alert "360-degrees", they failed miserably at that. Also, the spotter has his rifle ready. I assume the SS has binoculars (or at least, some sort of magnification device that offers more field-of-view than a scope), which would make more sense for the spotter to use while scanning, unless—again—they were already preparing to take a shot. Although, I do agree that they both look caught-off-guard by the first shots.

Tried to analyze the footage and it seems like the people hit were in the top left of the stands (stage-right). Which would mean those follow up shots would have to have been some wild fliers. I wonder if he realized he botched the initial shot and decided to just do random damage. Yeah found this video, those last shots were not aimed at anyone in particular, I'm certain of it. (need a YT account to view, apparently)
