60% of young people want to start their own business. Hmm, I have been there more than once. I can tell you that starting and running your own business is no picnic. The rules, regulations, taxes, capital, employees,...make running a business very difficult. Last thing in the world I would do today is open a business that requires employees, a building, regulations.
Furthermore, society is crazy, so most likely your customer is crazy. The owner puts their entire self on the line trying to make a go of a business, employees think the owner is rich, the State skims sales tax off of every sale, property tax off of the building, and make you do the bookkeeping and act as their agent. The State's extorted skimming off the top is pure profit with no skin in the game and the State is in charge of you. They make more than you net.
The only certain thing these days is uncertainty.
Oh forgot to mention business insurance. Another scam. All that mandated insurance around us.
Thank God I am getting old.
With changing technology and AI, who knows what will be going on tomorrow. There is no security or stability.
WTF kind of business is a young person going to open up that will make them independent?
If being freelance opens your skills and business to the entire world at very little cost then you will be competing with those from other countries that have skills with little expense for start up and they don't need to make the money that you need to make.
Any person that thinks there is any security in a free lance job where the person paying you has no loyalty and can go to the cheapest bidder better get ready to be disappointed. Even if you are the best at what you do, if thousands or millions of people will do what you can do for much less, you will have to make much less to get the work.
