So Barr is an independent AG and not a Trump puppet the way the left was alleging last year? Because it doesn't seem like you can have it both ways.

He is 100% right and all the conservatives rushing to drag him for this are placing the knives on their own throats. Conservative Inc. types relish any opportunity to call a lefty a racist, it's pathetic. I understand you can't necessarily publicly agree with such wrongthink, but jumping at the opportunity to "own the libs" like this is counterproductive, to say the least.

They don't need to be a majority. Their power has two halves. One is that they're extremely powerful in the culture-shaping institutions collectively referred to as The Cathedral. All mainstream culture, all multinationals and banks and entertainment conglomerates bow to their narratives because of the positions of power. The second half is that their relatively small numbers allows "sensible" leftists to call them "just a small sliver" of the left. The left loves to deny their own power and gaslight people, claiming to be disenfranchised rebels when they are the establishment.

Ah... OK... utterly lost on me. It didn't read at all as sarcasm, but then again I'm not the sharpest bulb in the drawer, so don't go by me. Meh... he says lots of things that leave me wondering, which contributes to my inability to come to trust him. I still say leave him to a second term. It could be no worse than anything Biden, Sanders, Warren, or the Butt man would try to foist on us. Either way we would be faced with a very unpleasant decision, much as are the people of VA this very day, so I say give him a whirl. I will be the first to toss Trump under the bus if he makes a clear move against our rights. Yeah, I know about the bumpstock thing, but it was a policy change and we do not quite know what he may have purchased with it, so I'm not yet ready to condemn him. He has demonstrated an ability, a will, and a habit of playing a longer game than any of his predecessors, at least back to Reagan, so this could all be part of the game. Only time will tell. Meanwhile, I choose to focus on the current mood of fed-upness because THAT is where the most opportunities lay. Placing our hopes in yet another personality is precisely how we have gone from the American political circumstance of 1789, to now. It is our most unfortunate proclivity to want to pimp OUR responsibilities onto the shoulders of others that got us here and it is only the repression of that worst of habits that presents even the slimmest hope of extrication from under the tyrant's boot-heel. In a sense Trump may have been the worst thing because the recoveries stand to not only fill our pockets with token increases in our fortunes, but to put us right back to sleep under the false sense that all is well, in good hands, and that we can now relax... yet another indicator of the deep corruption with which most Americans choose over the status of free individuals.

Is this really necessary? It seems you are attributing opinions, the evidence for which is not clear to me, and then calling him a fascist. What is the purpose here? Venting? Come now, are you not better than this? You accuse Trump of being a socialist, yet offer no support for the assertion. What if you're wrong on that point? Do you make the claim because Trump has not delivered to the nation that which you consider the ideal solutions? That is not a rhetorical question. Consider that with which Trump must contend: hostile Democrats AND Republicans. Do you not recall how utterly opposed to Trump was the RNC, as well as a great plurality of (R) congresscritters? Given the situation, were Trump to set forth a vision of America that was FAR closer to actual freedom, how far do you think he'd get? Nowhere, and possibly assassinated for real. Consider the razor-sharp edge on which he is treading. It seems a not-so-small miracle that is gets anything done, much less the substantive progress he has made along several fronts.

For those in "government" who violate their oaths of good faith to the public trust, absolutely. I have ZERO problem with hanging government criminals. But to be clear, anyone determined to have falsely accused a government agent of such a crime would also face that fate. ALL men should be held to the same standards where governance is concerned and I would not want any faithful public servant to be falsely convicted and possibly executed because some shithead didn't like how they were treated at the DMV. We either get serious about running a clean game, or at least be honest about it, admit our hopeless corruption, and settle with the truth that we are deserving of the chains Theye place about our ankles and wrists. Political systems don't clean and maintain themselves as if by magic. People of stridently determined intolerance of corruption and crime are the only means of keeping the infection at bay.

Let us hope that proves the case. While I am opposed to the death penalty on principle, I make an exception for those in "government". The consequences for violating the public trust should be so horrific that only those most genuinely and deeply dedicated to the notion of public service would have the nerve to step up. The rest, the scoundrels, would be most likely to confine themselves to becoming petty pickpockets, rather than the grand variety which we normally call Congressmen and so forth. I believe strongly enough in this idea that if the only way to make it happen were for me to become an executioner, I would pay that price to see the land cleansed of the filth and disease that has taken America by its soul. If one thinks on it just a smidge, our political problems are VERY easy to solve. We could have an honest and high-flying America in a matter of months, were I king for a year. Ah, to sleep perchance to dream... or as my Michelle used to quip, "to dream, perchance to cream..."

Ah, OK. Yes, that is something upon which to maintain one's attention, but it doesn't concern me nearly as much as what he does. Always pay attention, but don't inflate the problem more than it merits. Don't forget that Trump is not like other presidents of, say, the past 30 years. They have all been prepped-statement/teleprompter robots, especially nancy girl Obama who would put his own vagina in his mouth any time he opened the pie hole without the benefit of his master's pre-canned fare. Trump speaks off the cuff, which is something I respect a lot, especially in this idiotic cultural environment where every syllable is scrutinized and examined for its potential to be twisted into something that serves the Hidden Agenda. Because of this mode of communication, I place FAR less concern about these reversals than I otherwise would. Trump may be a good guy, or not... for me, that is yet to be demonstrated, but I like that he speaks his mind, even if he does so in the coarse NYC style with which I grew up. His personal style doesn't bother me much; he does seem a bit of the narcissist, but he is also a highly competent manager. Compare that with the deep and dangerous pathology of Obama's narcissism. When coupled with FIC's (Fairy In Chief) utter lack of any worthwhile skill (teleprompter reading and blowjobs do not count), deep hatred for whites, and his seemingly endless ignorance of everything needed to be a proper president, and you end up with a truly dangerous combination of disease and personal shortcomings. Because Trump is otherwise capable, I am to date far less concerned with what some see as the foibles of his personal expressive style. He's not perfect and he may yet prove just another devil, but until that time I am willing to give him a fair shake. Considering the broader political circumstance and the shivering thought of what might have been, I consider that his presidency at least holds the potential of being a relative blessing. It may not be anarchy, but it solidly seems a damned sight better than the alternative, which would have had this economy on the brink of collapse by now. We should count ourselves as having dodged a bullet, even if only by dint of some wildly unlikely outcome. Given where we were going, I'll take the gift of less horrible luck and I will do so with a smile and thanks. Here's to four more with a long litany of trials for high crimes and misdemeanors, and long and miserable prison sentences on Gitmo with maybe even a few televised executions.

If we assume this is true about siding, the question arises as to why the change. The answer might be obvious: Theye see the ship is sinking and do not want to go down with the crew. Get in the lifeboat, get picked up by USS MAGA, ingratiate oneself to the new crew, gain trust and the keys to the arms locker, then mutiny. And so we have yet another reason why WE must be "government", every stinking one of us... because NOBODY is to be trusted where political power is concerned. Humans are simply too weak as a general rule, to resist the temptations of power when there are no potentially terminal consequences to aid in keeping oneself on the straight and narrow.

I try to live and let live, but Schumer really creeps me out. There is something satanic about him, with the quality that leaves me suspicious that were I to make physical contact with him, I'd get it on me. EEEEW... now I need a shower. I have an acquaintance from my days at WTSQ, Josh Gaffin. Josh is a fairly far-left prog, but at least he has enough integrity to see another's POV and not go all ballistic when confronted with opinions he may not share. Anyhow, he once told me that his aunt MADE Schumer - that she was personally responsible for his being where he is today. That revelation felt similar to what I imagine it would be like, discovering the girl to whom you've been putting the boots for the past six weeks is the daughter of Gambino. "Will I be alive in 24 hours" would probably be the first thing to come to my mind... given that Italian thing about virginity and the intolerance and utter lack of understanding and forgiveness for which mafiosi are so notorious. Crap... that got me thinking of Lou Reed and how I never had lunch with him, which makes me sad. Dammit.

If I thought you were serious, I'd recommend you schedule some time with a Buttplug, that you might avoid bursting an artery. Consider that a Buttplug just nabbed 26%+ in Iowa. That alone shows the validity of my remedy for the über-regressive pansyfags whose blood pressure values are through the roof. OTOH, blown arteries could go a long way toward cleansing the gene pool.

The Democrats have put their feet in their mouths time and again where Trump is concerned. They went so far as to undertake the most ill-considered crusade of impeachment, got their asses handed to them on a chipped Corelle™ serving dish, and immediately came back for more in the form of that little troll "Go" Nadler announcing that they will continue investigating and possibly subpoenaing Bolton. Is there so much as a single functional brain cell to be split among the lot of them? Can they really be this stupid, or is this just more theater? I honestly cannot tell because stupid me still finds it nearly impossible to accept that people could be THAT stupid and not spontaneously die from the condition. Is there no remedy in Law to stay the hands of these vicious rodentia? For all intents and purposes, these actions constitute an attempted coupe d'etat. On other fronts... Pelosi tearing up her copy of the SOTU... Really? How petty and childish. Did anyone else observe and note the vacuous, soulless appearance in her eyes? It was so bad, so disturbing, I actually want to sit down with her for five minutes just to be able to look Pelosi in the eyes face to face that I might satisfy my cognitive dissonance. I'm serious, too... the video capture has a surreal quality about it, like a very unpleasant dream. Is Pelosi even human? I know it sounds like I'm being mean, but I don't intend it that way - Pelosi looks like an empty automaton and that is more than a little disturbing.

Did anyone seriously believe that the theatre would not issue from the "right" as well? Trump has done some good things - this cannot be credibly denied. Sadly, the underlying cancer remains, which can only be expected. Speaking in purely practical terms, I say give the Donald four more to prove himself more solidly. I still cannot bring myself to trust him, but if perchance he makes good on his promise to drain the swamp, here "draining" meaning mass trials, convictions and, hopefully (not really very hopeful) either very long and misery-laden prison terms, or (preferably) public hangings, I will come as close to trust of a political figure as I think myself capable, which would place him in a class close to Ron Paul and Thomas Massey. If Trump sees the worst of the bunch set for life on Gitmo, I will hold him in good esteem, my assumption being that he is genuine, if still imperfect. Time is here to reel Themme in and Trump needs to take fullest advantage of the opportunity.

Schiff predicted 2008 because he's always predicting a crash. Eventually he was going to be right, but that doesn't imply any particular insight. Not to mention he wasn't the only one to make that prognostication. The real relevant prediction from Schiff was hyperinflation, which was supposed to come over a decade ago now. The only ones saying that was on the way was Schiff and some other collapsatarian Austrians, and they were all wrong and made themselves look foolish. People rightly call out people like Paul Krugman for all his bullshit predictions, but make excuses for a guy who was saying that the US would look like Zimbabwe before Obama's second term. How many times do these collapse fetishists have to fail before people start questioning them?

Schiff has been saying the same stuff for over a decade now. He was sure that Zimbabwe-style hyperinflation was inevitable circa 2009. That is a downright comical prediction. At the very, very least he's represented Austrians poorly by constantly preaching a collapse that never comes. Libertarians haven't called him on his shit and keep saying "just wait." Ridiculous.

This is the woman who stole her rape story from SVU, right? The same one whose media profile dropped like a stone when she slurred some bizarre shit about rape fantasies on CNN? Trump should do it. She's saying this because she thinks he won't, which is likely correct. But he should.

I think I've become a macro-skeptic. I don't think anyone has a particularly good theory on the business cycle. Microeconomics are understood quite well, particularly by Austrians, but macro seems to be a different story. Or maybe the the 2009 hyperinflation just wasn't that.hyper. More of a sugar rush inflation.

They closed the thread before I was able to respond to you, so I just wanted to say, I agree with all of your concerns about Rand Paul. I still think he's better than the other options, but he isn't my ideal. I'm most likely going to vote for him, but I don't blame people who won't. And if I was still going to live in NYS in 2016 (I'm moving to Virginia for college, which as we know is a swingy state) I would be less likely to vote for him. Even still, if the LP candidate is too good to pass up (Someone more like Harry Browne than Gary Johnson... the latter of which was more of a lesser of five evils) I would consider voting for them.
