You know it's sad we have to even publicly say things aren't financial advice because of big brother and the litigious society we're in. While I doubt any of us have to worry about other long time members obviously with the web some random person could find some statement and go ah ha! You're the reason I did something foolish, it must be your fault. Just a rant for the evening. PS. Don't forget, publisher clearing house is doing their 5K a week for life soon. That could be a lot of weekly crypto buys

Nothing I say should be considered advice... good or bad! I am not a certified financial advisor and all that other legal mumbo jumbo. Airdrops can be nice. Do you have an account on bitcointalk? If not, get one immediately. This is the granddaddy website, satoshi him/her/them self used to post there back in the day. There is some decent info there on alt-coin announcements on what is coming. Also a lot of total BS. Some of the new coin giveaways posted on that site can be decent. Anyone involved in the ONION airdrops last fall earned hundreds to thousands of coins, the coin has been trading in the $10+ range. Or there's always the POS coins and staking. The downside is usually high return staking coins are also alt-coins that may crash at anytime. A few coins that have surprised me with staking returns this year have been NMS and XGOX I have some NMS, not enough for a masternode. The regular staking is being nicely profitable at the current price of NMS XGOX has been climbing rapidly and their staking is rather nice

The same argument against bitcoin that I've seen for years. Bitcoin has value because people believe it has value, with a true free market allowing people to establish what that value is. Even the big banks now agree, Bitcoin is money https://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/2018/01/10/goldman-sachs-caves-bitcoin-is-money/#3edb62b774b7

There are lots of people who carefully go over the code of any changes. A new release is a big deal and unless it's for a security flaw it takes a long time before code is put in. Any big changes usually take years of discussion before rolling out.

Bitcoin core handles the base code of Bitcoin. Like many other successful open source software (Linux, *BSD, Apache, etc) it is lead by a team but accepts code contributions from others. The community and the core team will decide if the code improves bitcoin and is worth being included. These are the current core team and some of the community members who have helped the project. https://bitcoincore.org/en/team/

I never did see the result from detroit's Jill stein recount that had ballot boxes that had drastically fewer ballots than the official count said should be in there. The law in michigan says if the actual ballots in the box is different than the first count, whatever physical ones can't be recounted. Seems like an easy way to ensure no one can recount something. https://www.freep.com/story/news/politics/2016/12/07/michigan-ballot-recount-election/95107886/

Enough for it to still exist : " LiveJasmin is the largest internet cam host in the world. Between 35 and 40 million users visit it daily, and at any given moment, there are 2,000 models live online. It is not hard to understand how the web-cam industry, overall, generated an estimated $2-3bn in 2016"

There are a variety of coins that allow masternodes. Now personally I can't afford the million it would take to do some of the bigger coin masternodes like a DASH. However there are a variety of altcoins that do masternode with not quite so lofty expenses. Of course the astronomical ROI can't last and most of the small coins are not listed on the larger exchanges. Has anyone had success in this world? https://masternodes.online/

Some retailers do but yes, overall it's still very rare until a complete supply chain can be entirely paid in crypto. Overstock is keeping 50% of all bitcoin payments as bitcoin, up from the 10% it used to hold.

You can move more funds to coinbase and let it sit in the USD wallet, letting you buy instantly after that. You are locked in to the price so if it goes up you don't have to worry. However if you're trying to move from BTC to another alt coin that could be very frustrating. Their timeline for banking seems to be stretching further and further. It used to be a few days, now a week or more. I could potentially see a deposit taking a little longer to ensure there's no credit issues but even cashing out takes just as long.

A few years ago I started fiddling with ideas on how to make new coins have some actual usage outside of exchanges, and to make faucets more amusing. This also let me gain experience with handling a variety of crypto. This led to TouchMyCoin, a crypto currency auction site. The site gives away a few free coins when you join and create a deposit address you get some free BUMBA and XGOX, so you can bid without any downside to you. This isn't really a make a profit sort of site, as I said it lets me test some ideas. However it's been running for a few years now so thought I'd mention it here. Most auctions may be a penny or two of USD value. Although I'm doing a 12 days of christmas event and today's prize is 1 ONION which is worth about $6. https://www.touchmycoin.com

Alts are going crazy this weekend. ADA moved into the #5 coin spot. Even the small cap coins are on a big boost. I'm not sure what to credit this to - moving out of BTC at the end of the year to find the next moon? New players in the game realizing there are lots of alts out there? McAfee making his coin choices have massive interest and alts are growing as a whole?
