Aren't the last of the JFK files supposed to released in the next few years? Wonder if they're to be included for the shredding...

CCs finally bowed to allowing fees to be tacked on after a class action. Not sure which states don't have that clause in the CC contract... Michigan does allow surcharges to recover the fee http://www.michigan.gov/ag/0,4534,7-164-17337_20942-302574--,00.html

The yearly fee to Mar Lago is $200,000. I don't think anyone paying that sort of membership fee really qualifies as ordinary people.

The reason this warning appeared is an improvement to Bitcoin is about to hit and there is the possibility of an issue when it switches over. Litecoin, another top coin, switched to this code without a problem earlier this year. Also litecoin shot up in value because of the better security Segwit offers. These are necessary growing pains for the future. Enough of the community supports it for things to switch over hopefully without a hitch. Post segwit there will be better security and it will allow lightning transactions which are instant and cheaper than today's bitcoin transactions. There is a feeling in the community that this is holding the Bitcoin price down until this is past. We'll see. If it's like Litecoin having a surge afterwards it will be incredible. https://cointelegraph.com/explained/segwit-explained

There are hundreds of recognized religions and denominations in the US. That park may get crowded with monuments.

Easy enough argument. This year Japan passed a law to accept bitcoin as a legal payment method. Australia treats it just like money as of this month. While many other countries view it as property or a commodity I'm sure there will be more official recognition of it as currency with time. Also... Y2K was an actual problem. However it was determined to be a problem, lots of work with time/expense was done to update old programs and overall the problem was averted. The hype hysteria was overkill, the underlying problem was actually real.

WOW money has a central bank (Blizzard) and can't be used at tens of thousands of places like Bitcoin can. Bitcoin itself has too much actual usage and real world function to be a ponzi. The value is entirely set by the free market, how is this not a libertarian dream?

My boiler never turned on in '13 - '14 through a Michigan winter due to 100 Amps being used for mining.... but by mid '14 it was no longer profitable to do home mining.

Just today I was browsing through some farm / ranch land for sale in texas and NM. One listing caught my eye ... hundreds of acres of property, house on it, and total yearly tax of around $2500. Compare that to the summer tax bill that just came in for this house and it's shockingly cheaper (The large ranch that is)

The movie War Machine, where Brad Pitt plays Gen. Glen McMahon, had a scene about Poppy. The Gen was in front of a field and asked if they could grow anything else. He was told it would be perfect for cotton but that would hurt american industry so they let them grow poppies for opium so it won't hurt any american industry. I have no idea if that's the actual reasoning.. interesting movie tho about a general who wanted a win and realized there is no win available.

maybe they can mix it in with other courses. Sex ed could use Song of Solomon, or talking about emissions like a horse.... I went through a catholic school with a daily religion class. Oddly enough we didn't actually read the bible. Catechism, religious books, books that included verses from the bible, but never actually reading the bible. Decades later my niece is going to the same school. Smaller enrollment and the school has really refocused on their religious aspect. Far harder religion classes discussing things in Junior High that I don't recall ever covering in school. Still the niece has never read the bible in class. I can only assume Kentucky will be the same way. Here's the official "bible study" book.. no critical thinking involved.

I know one very private minded person who always messes up his social security number at his jobs. He transposes 2 digits or something innocent like. HR will finally notify him and he'll mess up in some new fashion. Of course I doubt there are 1.4 million people like him around, he's rather unique.
