Then they're more ready to trash it than I am. The reports of FEMA incompetence have been pouring in for the last 19 years at least since Katrina. I haven't heard a single "thank God FEMA was there to help" story.

With Pete gone I guess I'll have to be the one to post this periodically. https://constitution.org/2-LawRev/roots/cops.htm It's been a few years since I went through it but I remember one of the underlying points being that the whole idea of cops being proactive is in itself contrary to the constitution. Without even getting into being predictive.

He's a fan of the tech, and knows what he's talking about, unlike your average congressman. I mean Massie probably knows the technical reasons behind why the F-35 is a fucking joke, but who else would? Love him or hate him, Elon has objectively pushed technology in directions it hasn't gone before, and has pushed it farther than anyone else has in directions it was going. He figured out how to land rockets for re-use. We saw that in sci-fi in the 1960s but literally nobody has done it prior to him. And he did it on a budget. Even though those budgets were astronomical they still are dwarfed by what the F-35 has cost so far and the difference is Elon has actually delivered something. He's uniquely qualified to comment on the F-35 because he's done a bunch of different things that are way more complicated and for less money. My point is that he's impossible to dazzle with bullshit on this topic. He's the one man on Earth who can face the people in charge of this massive scam and say "here are all the exact reasons why everything you're saying is an overt lie".

This is why nobody takes you seriously. We all remember like a whole year of the Covid conversation being about two different drugs. Drugs that the DEA absolutely could claim jurisdiction over.

It sure sounds targeted. As usual the reporting is abominable on this story. I think the gunman probably made a clean getaway and TBH there's stuff that CEOs do just in their normal line of duties that would piss someone off to this point. I can't speak for all corporations but I haven't worked for a company that actually fired people for like 16 years. It's gotten to the point where companies will just keep people on all year despite serious problems and then there's this whole dog-and-pony-show at the end of the year where they don't have enough resources to continue employing everyone and lay a bunch of people off. Most of the time everyone looks around at who's gone and realizes it's all dead weight - but good employees also regularly get caught in that net. And inevitably, after making all these sour faces about budgets, then they hand out bonuses. I mean I'm not saying someone who would murder someone else for this is a good employee - just pointing out CEOs are generally all cowards who make bad decisions and hide behind imaginary budget constraints, so I'm not surprised one would be targeted.

If anything, that's the best case for what I'm talking about. High tech shit always, always, always crashes in price while simultaneously improving in function and reliability. That's why a brand new LCD TV has like 3x the resolution from 15 years ago and costs 1/3 the original dollar amount (not inflation adjusted!) and if you've ever crawled around in a couple you'd know that they've been going through constant engineering innovations that have also resulted in less material used overall, tighter electronic design, etc. And again, that's why I'm thrilled Musk is the one looking at this. Because he's going to understand both sides of manufacturing - both the mass manufacturing like TVs where there is enormous pressure to streamline & cut costs, and also single manufacturing like Starship rockets where if there's any room to make those adjustments you kinda have to find it. And he's going to be able to speak to the fact that just the helmet for the F-35 still costs $400,000 per unit. If you put one in his hands he'd probably instantly be able to point out a dozen things they're still doing that are 2000s era tech and way TF outdated and the reason why it costs so much. And he'd be able to look at the receipts for the last 20 years and say no, actually here's all the money you needed to do exactly what I'm talking about to drive that cost down to 10 grand or so.

Not previously but the results are pretty interesting. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_F-15EX_Eagle_II That's over 100 million per, and getting close to the (purely imaginary) cost of an F-35. Ridiculous. Something very, very rotten going on there. In every other historical case where a third party takes up a military design and starts producing it, they find cost saving measures as a way to try to undercut the original designer and that's how they line their pockets. But now they're spending almost twice what the original inflation adjusted cost of an F-15 was. That's still over $100 million per plane! The original run of the F-16 was like $13 million. With zero cost saving measures that should be $40 million today.

I bought a little bit about 12 years ago as a hedge against btc. Looks like btc did just fine, but XRP is looking pretty good as well. It's owned and controlled by a private company, which is risky compared to the decentralized model. But it looks like they might do some good things.

Yeah I've been looking forward to this ever since he got involved in this effort. The only reason the F-35 has gotten as far as it has is because the designers have bullshitted everyone with technobabble. Musk is exactly the right guy to question this. I'm really looking forward to the time when someone openly accuses him of not knowing what he's talking about. Should be a good show.

The B52 is still in service, a new one has not been built for over 60 years. There is no reason that the F14 and FA18 for the Navy and the F15 and FA16 for the Air Force could not have been steadily upgraded with advanced electronic warfare capability, while the transition to pilotless aircraft was made without this flying fuckup costing billions in the meantime..

The negativity in this thread is comical, but nobody has commented yet about how they are creating a new government agency to get rid of the other government agencies like in previous threads on the topic, and that is a shame. 1863666221301764462 https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1863666221301764462

This is correct, it was a full and unconditional pardon for everything he did or may have done over a ten year span of addiction, corruption and back room dealing with foreign adversaries. Pretty impressive when you think about it, I'll have to do some research, but I am seeing this pop up all over: that this was the most comprehensive pardon ever granted by a president.

You know, if there's one thing we can be 100% certain of, it's that Trump is going to do what he's going to do regardless how you feel about it. And if there's a second thing we can be 100% certain of, it's that you're going to show up no later than post #4 in the thread pointing out the betrayal to school us all on how him doing the exact opposite of what he said is in fact actually what he said he was going to do.

Making drugs illegal was cover for much larger problems. Nobody I knew who was doing drugs 30 years ago had a great relationship with their parents. And none of them fit into the social hierarchies in school. The fundamental message going out to young people was 'we do not respect you as an individual and if you don't conform you're going to live a life of hardship'. And tack on 'oh yeah you're also going to spend half your waking hours in a literal prison that you're not allowed to leave and your movements will be super regulated and you will exercise when you're told and you will cheer when we tell you to cheer'. The only thing surprising about how this turned out is that people are still surprised at it. I was out of school less than 10 years when Columbine happened, and all the potheads I was hanging out with all went "well, DUH". And now we all have homeschooled kids and our message to them is 'we respect you as people and are trying to help you make decisions that will set you up to be happy first, and to find success where you can'. And all of these homeschooled kids have heard about Warren V DC, Deshaney V Winnebago County, and Castle Rock V Gonzales. They may not have them memorized but unlike our generation, they do tend to place importance on the things their parents think are important. So they know the authorities are operating under false pretenses by even suggesting that the point of analyzing your waste has anything to do with anything apart from subjugation.

In a word from my youth, "Kosher"...

Though if you are trying out 13.0, hopefully you have a lot better luck with it than I have had. I can only get Salix to run with gl support on the newer machine (dual 2.2ghz, 1gb nvidia 8600). Though I figured there might be a problem with this older machine from a thread in the slackware forums at linuxquestions. I don't remember exactly what was said, but basically a person had stated it was best to stick with 12.2 because of intel problems. I'll try for a few more days, then I'll just scrap the OS and use the third HD as a back up for my Slack 12.2.

Oh, also, you should check out sbopkg if you haven't done so yet. Gives a person an ncurses menu driven selection of Slackbuilds. It's quite useful.
