Since you always quote the RCP average, last time dems swept the RCP average over-performed by 4 points. Dems will need +5.5 to win the house battle. If everything were held today and we go by the RCP model, you'd be wrong bud. In these next two weeks anything can still happen and then its all about turnout, which the polling averages assumed a Dem surge and Republicans with low excitement. RCP average is bunk right now.

Oh boo fkn hoo... Tax cuts were great, you never even saw it coming. Everyday Americans have more jobs to interview for, upward mobility, extra holiday bonuses, a little more every paycheck. Not everybody benefited but to say that middle class didn't benefit is plain ignorant of even libertarian values. We always pushed for tax cuts and now that taxes have been cut, at a larger scale than we ever thought would happen, oh suddenly its not "middle class" enough. Spare me the drama man. I see you're only 4 years in on this forum so maybe you need more time to understand tax cuts and what it does for an economy and what the most recent cuts has already done for this economy. Obamacare not being repealed? That Trump's fault too? Everybody was on board, and McCain screwed it up out of spite. We were all watching, don't pretend you don't know what happened. Your posts lead me to believe that no, you won't give credit where due because things have been accomplished and you just continue to hold onto your libertarian purity like a baby's blankey. If Ron met with Kim Jung Un and set a path to denuclearization and end to the Korean war before year two was done, you'd be out of Kleenex.

This thread is interesting, it started as enhanced_deficit pointing blame to Ivanka profiting off of her dad's presidency and ended with rumors Ivanka convinced her dad to bomb Syria as some form of proof that she purposely profits financially from the presidency. Look if you actually had an argument, you wouldn't need to change the subject to re-enforce the original point. Is every cent that the Trump brand generates, a result of the presidency? If Ron or Rand was president, would every cent they generate be the result of the position? guilt by simple association?

Trump's last tax cut yielded a record tax revenue for last fiscal. I think he is going into cutting mode, next years budget will be less than Obama's last term, me thinks. Trump is so unpredictable that he is predictable and the most predictable of all is his ego. Any libertarians in here complaining about tax cuts and take their lowered taxes, you can give me the difference because I will be happy to take it.

Everything in DC is for optics. When Rand filibustered, it was for optics and we cheer-leaded like our lives depended on it. So Trump does something libertarians like, but does it for optics, its suddenly bad? As if libertarians were not already known for self-interest being a pillar of the ideology. Someone remind me.... Tf Trump triggers you so much that you go against your own ideology, is that a clear symptom of TDS? The Zippy syndrome is infecting RPF like HIV in Los Angeles.

Lol horrible spin. I said California is pushing for illegals to vote and received healthcare. On the other hand illegals DO vote and DO receive welfare. I also said there will be no end in welfare so the borders must be enforced. Its far easier to enforce the borders than the end welfare. I'm sorry if you don't like it but thats how it is. Talk to your reps if you want open borders.

Border enforcement today is not inconsistent with libertarian ideology. We have a massive and growing welfare state that has no end in sight. You cannot have open borders and a welfare state. Hence, the border must be enforced or the welfare state will be expanded on steroids to accommodate them. California is already pushing for illegals to vote and receive free health care.

Not sure if you got my sarcasm there. Point is, enforcing borders is much easier than it is to end welfare. Any president that ends welfare can kiss their next term goodbye and its guaranteed the welfare would be voted back in.

I always thought it was a commonly accepted fact with the libertarian crowd that you can't have a welfare state and open borders. Well we already have a welfare state. So..... Why don't we just let in more people?

Hmmm... A bunch of "libertarians" telling me that we need to let the illegals in. On the other hand, I'm getting emails from Ron Paul to support Chris McDaniels to outlaw Sanctuary cities. You don't need to outlaw sanctuary cities without illegal immigration. Choose one already guys, jesus..

My prediction today 10/19/18 is Dems pick up 21 house seats. GOP maintain house. RCP's current dem advantage is +26 seats today but a lot of races don't have polls recently done so I would say if the election happened today, Dems would pick up less than 15 seats.

The timing is way too suspect. Fits right into the narrative, tons of crying children. Dems already know they won the family separation narrative and they're using it again. If the invasion doesn't stop now, the GOP will have a big problem on their hands, this is just the beginning, the real news cycle hasn't even started yet. Also hearing conflicting reports that its been taken care of with Mexico and some saying they're still coming.

eleganz replied to a thread Rand Paul 2020 in U.S. Political News
Rand Paul is the top of one of the top beneficiaries to Trump's online base once he is done. If Trump makes it to a second term, his support will be important for 2024. Doesn't matter though, nobody is challenging Trump in 2020, it would be political suicide since Trump has consolidated the party almost fully behind him. I think Trump's chances of being impeached are a little higher as Obama's while the GOP held congress. Republicans are more civil, dems are unhinged but they might just be unhinged to attain power and will become more civilized after they take power. Either way, don't let them win.

I've never seen that before but I do know that people aren't just going to start listing their prices online because one hospital in Oklahoma did, the guy appears to clearly be some form of activist conservative or libertarian with hard principles. How many medical practice owners are just like him? Its a great start though.

Its easy to say that online but what incentivizes a doctor to change what currently and seemingly works for every other doctor? What messaging is needed? How to reach them? Proof of model? Doesn't look like anybody is even close to tackling this. I talk to doctors about this, none of them ever seem interested.

American healthcare industry is so convoluted and regulated that its very hard to even see where to begin dismantling the healthcare industrial complex without dramatically changing people's lives. How successful could a medical clinic be if somebody opened up shop, didn't take insurance and just took cash for a set visit or procedure? The profit incentive is with the insurance so nobody would want to compete, or they would be afraid to enter a territory that literally nobody is in. Doctors to start with are not open to new things and nobody would compete with price because everyone else is set in their ways. I know its easy for people here to say, abolish this or repeal that but there needs to be realistic steps to begin reseting this system so that the average American doesn't get hurt enough where it becomes a massively unpopular issue and labeled a failure to be never tried again.

At this point Trump is actively making good on his campaign promises and appears like he is trying to do more. At this point I think he's earned the benefit of the doubt and its worth waiting to see what happens.

Bro sorry to cut it to you like this but seems like you have early onset TDS. Basically nothing is good enough, everything sucks or you just can't admit he is doing something decent that we have all been wanting and essentially never thought was ever going to happen. These cuts are a step in the right direction. Imagine the MSM doomsday headlines if Trump actually did a deep cut that RPF would be extremely proud of. I believe that just like they want Tax Cuts 2.0, they'll also want budget cuts 2.0 and 3.0. You call these budget cuts, peanuts. Democrats also called the Tax cuts, crumbs.

The left needed a hero and Beto was it because he was so close to Ted Cruz in the polls. Those were "fck you Republicans" donations. Its good though because that $70MM+ could've been donated in actually winnable Dem races. Beto squandered his donations flooding Texas with very expensive yard signs. He will never see those numbers again.

He's calling it the "Nickel plan". I figured this was coming sometime next year so color me pleasantly surprised. I guess some here will (stupidly) say its all part of the Swamp plan to cut 5% in government to appease and control the conservative base?? Anybody? Bueller? I know he gets a lot of crap around here for not being a libertarian (excuse me while I laugh at anybody who expects it) but I also know Trump has the ego bigger than any past president. He doesn't want to be compared to Obama in anyway when he's done. It's not unreasonable to assume he would tackle spending and leave office with less debt than what Obama accrued.

I gotta admit, Beto came prepared and executed well this debate. Still, his socialist agenda is just not for the right state. This is Texas and Ted knows exactly what to say to secure his base.

You of anybody should understand those polls in the past and the average are now meaningless as all polls up until after Kavanaugh saga ended were operating under the presumption of democrat turn out surge. Now that the turnout is potentially even (slight dem edge), its pointless to be talking about the RCP average. Polls coming out after Kavanaugh show GOP voter turnout as high as democrats, now its all who actually shows up.

I have an idea for a hard hitting guerilla attack campaign against Trey Grayson that doesnt have to use Rand's name.
