I was talking about the future...not the near future, necessarily, but what I believe is ultimately going to happen. Maybe you didn't catch what I said a few posts back, but I said that we're heading toward the opposite of what all of us here want. And as I said, I highly doubt that we're going to be able to overthrow what is coming, on our own. But ultimately it will be overthrown, by the true power of this world. You know that I'm a believer, so I assumed you knew what I was talking about. At that point there's not going to be a "State." :p I know most of you on this thread don't believe any of this… So that's why I said I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on what's going to happen in the future.

*Sigh* This post is chock full of strawmen. I'm not even sure I want to go through it point by point, at least not right now. The world may be changing, but human nature has not changed. There are still a number of powerful people who have an agenda, and that agenda is a nightmare. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on what's going to happen in the future. As I said, that's getting into a whole other topic...that should probably go on its own thread.

There you go. (The part I bolded). And that's just part of it. Regardless of what you call it, you're going to end up with some sort of authority/coercion Why, because there are always going to be people who want to take advantage of others, harm others, or rule over others. I think that the type of anarchy you guys want will only work on a very small scale. But if you can find a group of people with good intentions, who are all basically on the same page, then it could work out wonderfully. I say go for it. But it's not going to work on a large scale… it just isn't. And as I said earlier on the thread, it's not going to happen anyway. Unfortunately, the world is heading in the opposite direction. We can fight against it, but I believe that it's probably not going to be overthrown by us. I believe it will be eventually though, by the true power of this world. But that's a topic for a whole other thread.

Yeah, I gave up on voting after I saw what they did to Ron Paul. And I really hate to say this, but I've pretty much given up on the whole shebang. I think we're past the point of no return. Yes, I have been. You seem to pop in only every once in a while. In fact, maybe you just didn't see it, but I replied to one of your long posts, point by point, way back on page 10, but you never replied. Here it is: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?515014-Should-Libertarians-support-anarcho-capitalism&p=6539312&viewfull=1#post6539312 I think there might've been a different post of yours to me that I didn't reply to… I have to go back and look. But your basic point was that a state is not needed for people to do commerce. That is kind of a strawman, because the thing that you're not getting (or maybe just ignoring) is that state or no state, you're going to end up having some sort of authority or coercive element, because it is completely unrealistic to think that everyone is going to hold hands and sing Kumbaya. So if you're going to have some form of government, it just comes down to what is better… one that is limited and based on a true foundation and has a system of checks and balances… Or a poorly thought out system that will inevitably boil down to might makes right?

I've also noticed that Burning Man is used as an example of successful anarchy. I'm beginning to think that our "anarchists" smoked a little too much Wacky tobacky in their lifetime. :o ;)

I used to think Uber was great, until one of their drivers charged my debit card for a "cancellation fee" even though I didn't actually book the ride, I was merely inquiring about it. Made me never want to use them again and delete the app.

I knew someone was going to say that. So basically what you're saying is, because our system is being subverted and turned into something it was never supposed to be, we should throw out the baby with the bathwater and go to a system that is also going to end up subverted and turned into something it was never supposed to be... Except that in your AnCapLand, you are starting out without a true foundation, but with an illogical, contradictory idea that won't work longer than a few days. Makes loads of sense. :o

Ha ha… That kind of reminds me of a movie I saw recently, about a family that lived in an underground vault for a few decades then finally came out into a completely different world. I can't remember the name of it, but it's with Brendan Fraser. Natural Citizen knows what I'm talking about. :)

Once again, you guys are misunderstanding the objections here. You're still going to have authority, and coercion, so one of the objections is that the type of wonderful anarchy that you guys want is unattainable, it aint going to happen. So if you're going to have "government", it then comes down to what is better… having a limited amount of government for only certain things, and a system of checks and balances… Or an unrealistic system that will inevitably end up as might makes right? That's pretty much Ron Paul's position, do you know more than Ron Paul? Also, my point from the very beginning was that it's never going to happen anyway. So all of this is a waste of time, because it's not going to happen… Unless maybe there's a nuclear war and the majority of the world is wiped out, including all the current powers. But then you're back to the scenario I went over earlier, the type of anarchy you want is illogical, so it will always end up as might makes right. Again, this reminds me of the communists who always insist that communism just hasn't been tried the right way yet! :)

Oh wow. The Ariana Grande event was a pretty obvious one, iyam. Thank you for bringing up this stuff that of course we won't hear from the media. The "coincidences" are never ending…. Sheesh. ETA: Are you sure that it's the same 'Live Nation'?

I think you both completely misunderstood why he brought that up. But I'm sure he will reply later, since it was his point. You must realize though, that the 'traditional' anarchists say the same thing, they see capitalism as completely incompatible with anarchism. Anyway, thank you A Son of Liberty for your reply.

This thread kind of went in a different direction… But I want to get back to a couple earlier posts. I would put it a different way. I don't own you and you don't own me. I don't own your stuff and you don't own my stuff. I also agree, of course, that the government doesn't own you or me. So I agree, if we are talking about the proper relationship of man to man, in regard to force. That said, imo if you're basing an entire political philosophy on that one point, then you're going to have problems, because that is a very incomplete view of reality.

I disagree. The real threat comes from subversive people within our government and the actual powers behind the scenes....not your average Joe schmo leftist. There's more to be said about this, but…I'll leave it at that for now.

That goes against what the founders said. You disagree with the idea that the people have the right to throw off a tyrannical government and institute new government?

You rarely address anything that is said by those who disagree with you. Instead of tired ad hominems, why not refute his point that Anarchy and Capitalism are oxymorons in application? Definitions are important, or else all this debating is a waste of time. In fact, sometimes people who are arguing actually agree with each other… but the problem is they're on two different pages regarding definitions.

That's pretty much what I've been saying. Some of the anarchists' comments here remind me of communists who always say, "but Communism just hasn't been tried the right way yet!" Earlier on this thread I said that I'm all for trying it, because it sounds good in theory… but the more I learn about it and think about it, the more I can see that like communism, it'll never work.

This is over a week late, but I wanted to reply to your neg rep comment. I actually was here in 2007, under a different screenname/account, (wildflower) but that's besides the point. I simply have a different opinion on your actions regarding the whole Gunny thing. But I don't feel like arguing about it any further, so that's all.

Wait a second... I want to be clear on your position. Are you saying that it always boils down to might makes right because of corrupt people, but in your view might makes right is false? Or do you believe that "might makes right" is the actual reality? To put it another way, do you believe in natural law / divine law?
