“If you have zero respect for the U.S. Constitution, then you don’t need to do business with the state of Louisiana,” said Sen. John N. Kennedy, a Republican who cheered his state’s move from Washington. (Associated Press) By David Sherfinski - The Washington Times - Thursday, August 16, 2018 A Louisiana commission voted Thursday to block two banking giants from taking part in a new highway project, moving to punish the companies for gun control policies they adopted after the Parkland, Florida, school shooting this year. Citigroup and Bank of America had said they would work only with retailers who agreed to new restrictions on gun purchases — rules stricter than what federal law requires. Louisiana’s bond commission said it wouldn’t tolerate that kind of bullying over a constitutional right and voted 7-6 to block the companies from gaining a piece of the financing for a $600 million highway plan. The vote was a win for pro-gun advocates looking to make inroads in a debate that is increasingly spilling into the corporate arena, and comes as major service companies and social media giants move to adopt anti-firearms policies.

"Never interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake." Only trouble with the video is that people dont recognize Socialism as a mistake, and Fox News watchers dont question the validity of the lopsided statements they hear. They are trained to be Parrots, and only repeat what they hear, and dont challenge ideas as they are presented to them. I believe our job, like Danke did, is to call out the mistakes. So kudos to Danke on that! Thats when we mop the floor!

Agreed. I didnt post it to be pro socialism. Free education has big problems. The reason I posted was because Fox News is full of shit. Back on "Free Education" for a second. Lets say education is "free" but not paid for by taxes, instead, by big corporations. Would those corporations not have an undue level of influence on what is taught in schools? Now, if education isnt free, then the people can "vote" with how much money they have. Same problem, colleges will listen to those with the most money, and they will listen to big corporations over anyone taking out student loans to pay for that education. On the "isnt free" side, big corporations can still buy any politician with campaign contributions and control how education works indirectly. Im not agreeing or disagreeing with your statement, but trying to identify all possible avenues of problems. And, as usual, I think the best solution is a Free Market Economy with truly privatized schools, or flat out Home Schooling and Education, where children may even learn the Trade Skills of their parents, which are completely unrecognized by anyone who buys into "you need a college degree" media hype.

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-08-18/california-wants-force-restaurants-only-offer-kids-milk-or-water-meals Perhaps the REAL solution is to get Govt OUT of telling people what to eat? If Govt continues to have "authority to regulate what you eat recognized" while simultaneously only recognizing big corporations, everyone will end up on a diet of pure Brawndo.

https://yro.slashdot.org/story/18/08/18/036254/eu-accepts-resolution-abolishing-planned-obsolescence-making-devices-easier-to-repair Meanwhile in the US, people are only granted the Right (Permission) to throw shit away well before its time in order to make them buy a new product and keep the giants afloat. If US companies had their druthers, there would be little if any repair at all. Dont get me wrong, there is true obsolescence and planned obsolescence. Planned obsolescence is quite destructive to the people and only benefits big companies. Real obsolescence is making way to better technology and ideas, and inspires genuine innovation.

It's a while ago since I used my egg to make dinner, at least 3 weeks. But I got a few bags of charcoal again BBQ'd bavette with homemade pepper sauce. Whole onions, vine tomatoes and sweetcorn, clarified garlic butter. Roast potatoes and sour cream. Needless to say, I am stuffed. I had a great meal. Got the bavette to around medium, which is about good for bavette. Now I am wondering what to do with this leftover cognac from the pepper sauce. :redsmiling:

I have major problems with Pope Francis. Major concerns. This particular issue however is being overblown I think. He is actually giving a more nuanced and correct translation of the original Greek. Funny how so many people are jumping up and down about this, when one can pick up many modern English translations of the Bible and you find varying translations for words and phrases. The problem has to do with language in itself and the difficulty in correctly expressing at times what the original meaning in the original Greek meant. 1 Corinthians 10:13 - There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. God is almighty - He keeps the devil from tempting and allows also the devil to tempt. God doesn't do the tempting, but allows the Devil to do the tempting.. ala The Book of Job. Why does He allow this? Because in His great wisdom it can be a pedagogic experience for us, and may strengthen one, just as a contaminated metal is purified and strengthened when placed in a fire. God allows these temptations to happen by the devil so that like atheletes we may be be trained and prepared for when the most difficult trials occur (usually right after we die, when we are accused by the demons for the sins we have done and must pass through the spirits in the air who fight to drag us into the pit.).

Well, the government says it owns any water that's falls out of the sky...... Sort of looks like they need to pass some laws to make that water fall where they want it to.

When I was a kid, that was half the fun of going out. All we got at home was water, milk and sometimes lemon aid. So with that kind of law, it's like saying, people can't decide for themselves when to let their kids splurge on soda. But hey... one coast they ban large soda cups and on the other they flat out ban soda for kids. (Maybe they should use some paper straws and make it all better.) Next kids are going to think they are grown up when they can finally have a soda with their dinner. Used to be that way with beer.... sigh...

Right now its clear that statist secular humanism are effectively the law of the land. And ever since the 14th amendment the states are not allowed to do anything different.

Its impossible for any standard of law to be neutral. That's the ultimate issue. And every idea of freedom that you hold dear, even if it is at some point abused or twisted, ultimately originates in Christianity.
