I'm sure there were many who didn't think direct election of senators was immanent, either - until it was. In any case, MacIntyre's point is not that the Electoral College is in immediate jeopardy. MacIntyre never said "something more substantial" wasn't needed. His point is that conservatives are never going to get that "something more substantial" if they don't start explicitly eschewing pro-democracy apologetics. Mass popular democracy should be regarded with skeptical contempt, rather than with respectful admiration. Otherwise, progressives will just continue beating them over the head with it - while conservatives just continue "driving the speed limit" posted for them by progressives' semantic shenanigans.

BREAKING: JUDGE RULES TRUMP DEFRAUDED BANKS & INSURERS https://twitter.com/MarioNawfal/status/1706779664268644382 {Mario Nawfal | 26 September 2023} In the biggest blow yet, a judge ruled Trump committed fraud for years as he built his real estate empire. Judge Arthur Engoron found that Trump and his company deceived banks, insurers and others by massively overvaluing his assets and exaggerating his net worth on paperwork used in making deals and securing financing. KEY POINTS:

Judge Rules Trump Committed Fraud, Stripping Control of Key Properties The decision in a lawsuit that could go to trial next week is a major win for Attorney General Letitia James, who says former President Donald J. Trump overvalued his holdings by as much as $2.2 billion. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/26/nyregion/trump-james-fraud-trial.html https://archive.ph/3nOQd] {Jonah E. Bromwich & Ben Protess | 26 September 2023} A New York judge ruled on Tuesday that Donald J. Trump persistently committed fraud by inflating the value of his assets, and stripped the former president of control over some of his signature New York properties. The decision by Justice Arthur F. Engoron is a major victory for Attorney General Letitia James in her lawsuit against Mr. Trump, effectively deciding that no trial was needed to determine that he had fraudulently secured favorable terms on loans and insurance deals.

I guess it's a fluent transition from when only a select group of people were allowed to vote, which opened up to more and more people having a vote and it being a more and more equal playing field. If that's a good thing is an open question, which many may have an answer to. As far as I know the number of electoral votes is based on the number of congressmen +2 ? If that's the case there's a slight favour towards smaller states, which one can argue about. I would personally say that's a good thing as they're also likely less politically connected, so giving them a slightly higher influence here would be a natural balancing factor. But purely speaking it's a weird idea.

Luntz didn't do any such thing here. He just neutrally repeated some of the results of the survey in his referenced tweets. All the commentary is by Auron MacIntyre - and he isn't doing any such thing, either. He's talking about (1) the (long term) inevitability of the doom of the Electoral College - and of any other such limiting mechanism - under conditions of mass democracy, and (2) the vulnerability of conservatives due to their lack of appreciation for and understanding of the nature and causes of that inevitable doom. That is why he referenced the 17th Amendment (which was ratified over a century ago) as a part of the inexorable process of mass democracy eventually dissolving any limitations attempted to be imposed upon it. It's also why he said nothing about "the upcoming Presidential election" - such "short term" matters are completely irrelevant to the point he is making.

Majority of Americans continue to favor moving away from Electoral College https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/09/25/majority-of-americans-continue-to-favor-moving-away-from-electoral-college/ {Jocelyn Kiley | 25 September 2023} How we did this: In 2000 and 2016, the winners of the popular vote lost their bids for U.S. president after receiving fewer Electoral College votes than their opponents. To continue tracking how the public views the U.S. system for presidential elections, we surveyed 8,480 U.S. adults from July 10 to 16, 2023. Everyone who took part in the current survey is a member of Pew Research Center’s American Trends Panel (ATP), an online survey panel that is recruited through national, random sampling of residential addresses. This way nearly all U.S. adults have a chance of selection. The survey is weighted to be representative of the U.S. adult population by gender, race, ethnicity, partisan affiliation, education and other categories. Read more about the ATP’s methodology.

I would guess one possibility is the profound sense of satisfaction and achievement some people like this seem to derive from winning against other women in athletic competition. But I doubt that applies in this particular case, either.

As far as we know now, humans did evolved mostly on a meat, fish and poultry/birds but also insect and reptile diet along with foraging for fruits, tubers, grains, nuts and basically anything that was edible. That's what happens when a population is limited by food availability, anything that's edible gets eaten. So I do not subscribe to the theory our bodies are made for eating meat only. Our intestine is also too long for that, we do not have an intestine as long as a grass eater like a sheep, but it's much longer than animals that only eat meat in their diet. I think the latest addition to the human diet that may not have had time to fully processed into our genes are high levels of sugar. Starches have always been there in the tubers but less refined and less available in general. In that regard the primal diet is quite reasonable I think.

Right now its clear that statist secular humanism are effectively the law of the land. And ever since the 14th amendment the states are not allowed to do anything different.

Its impossible for any standard of law to be neutral. That's the ultimate issue. And every idea of freedom that you hold dear, even if it is at some point abused or twisted, ultimately originates in Christianity.
