lol I have never ever been banned from the internet in my entire life. This is just hilarious! I commented on a post where someone shared this link FROM NOAA.... http://services.swpc.noaa.gov/images/goes-xray-flux.gif I simply pointed out that an earthquake, an M-Class solar flare, and this historic severe weather all happened at the same time.

If you can get past the whole religious thing, this parable is befitting the arguments in this thread. Basically, don't go ripping everything out by the roots. Let the field grow out. The good and the bad together. Wait until harvest time to separate the bad. Rand (and the ideals of liberty) are still in the sowing phase. He's got some sprouts coming up. You go ripping up everything now and you lose anything beneficial to gain. Understand this is a generational battle. 24Jesus presented another parable to them: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25But while everyone was asleep, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and slipped away. 26When the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the weeds also appeared.27The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’28‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. So the servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’29‘No,’ he said, ‘if you pull the weeds now, you might uproot the wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest. At the proper time I will tell the harvesters, “First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat into my barn.”’”

1.) is your opinion. he's doing better than anyone else that has liberty ideals at his root. You completely side stepped my point that ripping this completely out will cause damage in other areas that will make my taxes go up too. Even tho it's a small pittance, by ripping out the ability to contribute tax free earnings to my health care, you are causing me to have to pay more tax on my income. This is just a small example of how embedded the problem is. Ripping it out at this point from the root causes you to rip out a lot of other things with the domino effect of ultimately leading to a conclusion that an overthrow of government is required. Not the intellectual overthrow that Rand, Ron, and myself are looking for, but an armed bloody anarchist revolt. Not gonna happen. 2.) Well, I think your criticism is misplaced. Perhaps focus on getting such monolithic bastions as Nancy Pelosi, John McCain, Lindsey Graham and their ilk tossed out of government. That is a good place to start. Attacking a nascent liberty up-welling despite the headwinds is like shooting yourself in the foot. Why would you do that? There are plenty of fruits ripening. One big obvious one is the coalescence around a disruptive to the status quo candidate. Sure it's not the right candidate, but at least the minds are starting to shake off drone like mentality that government = good and actions are following. Plenty of other examples out there if you get out in the community and talk to people.

I agree, government meddling in healthcare is disastrous. But if you are advocating getting rid of tax free health care savings rather than increase the amount in which I can contribute then you are advocating increasing my total tax liability. The problem that you have is that Rand is dealing with one of many government overreaches. You can't burn obamacare without some fire walls for other areas of impact. Of course I understand your plan is to burn the whole thing. I get that. But understand with that plan, you are here criticizing Rand's plan to use his power in government to do the best he can when you should simply criticize him for ever getting involved in the first place. That's just not going to fly with me. The Paul family has always been about staking out positions of power within the government to hold back the tide of anti-liberty ideals. They have inspired millions to protest logically, take positive actions, and generally begin an intellectual revolt. Many of the fruits of those early efforts are ripening in front of us right now. I remain optimistic in Rand's service to liberty and believe every inch of liberty he gains back within the confines of the senate translates to miles of liberty gained back across the land.

that is such an obtuse comment. there is a difference between healthcare and heath insurance. the policy of government mandated health insurance is definitely a fire that needs to be put out. but it doesn't solve the problem of healthcare fire that has been raging long before obamacare. i think the more prudent path to healthcare reform is recognizing that health care insurance is not the same as healthcare. Insurance as a whole is a gamblers market place. Everyone is going to get sick, everyone is going to have a terminal illness. There is not a pool of money big enough in the world to cover the expense of keeping everyone alive as long as possible. The sooner we realize that, the sooner we'll put more focus on quality and affordable healthcare. Insurance is not the answer. Rand Paul's plan recognizes this. You can't replace healthcare with nothing.

it's obviously going to have to be a political transition, not a full blown repeal and replace with nothing. This is a smart move for Rand to understand this and make sure he starts paving the way for competitive free market health care and not just another cobbled together special interest boondoggle. This puts libertarian ideas front and center in the public debate on what to do about healthcare. What is your problem anyways?

people can't tell the difference between government and "the" government. Actually, I think they do. Clearly Ron Paul is not an anarchist. He flat out says, you always want government. In a perfect world each individual conducts their own government, they govern themselves, this is self-government. people do the exact same thing with the word anarchy. It has a dual meaning just like government. We have a bunch of people bickering over semantics for the last 10 years here, trying to control the "narrative". At one time, the place was somewhere that people with a common goal could come and seek out the truth about what was happening in the USA. People wanted justice, accountability and responsibility from each other and this was a place to talk about it and find it. Somewhere between learning about Ron Paul's extremely nuanced yet common sense approach to liberty and trying to take over the Federal Government, propaganda and legalism was introduced.

why make people wonder if they are legally intoxicated or have to do some weird back of the napkin calculus to figure out if it's safe to drive? I think setting arbitrary limits is what is deadly. Either make it 0 tolerance or don't enforce any limits at all. IOW, it's either OK to drive with chemicals in your body (any amount) or it's not (0 amount).

that is my concept based on the basic teaching. this is a spiritual birth. this spiritual birth happens when someone brings Jesus into their hearts. that happens a lot during the holidays. Happens every day. Some people bring Jesus into their hearts more than once a day as well. If you consider the symbolism of baptism which begins with turning away from the things that keep Jesus out of your heart (repentance) and ends with cleansing the spirit by the blood of Jesus (his death) this religious ritual may be repeated in the spiritual sense. That is what makes Jesus' death (and birth) a constant steady series of events for each person who believes in his spiritual teachings. Person is born into the world that has rejected Jesus. Person accepts Jesus in their hearts (birth). Person sins(Jesus is put out of their hearts, Jesus dies). Person repents and brings Jesus back into their hearts ( born again, Jesus lives!). Constantly. That is my concept. That is how I understand the spiritual teachings of Jesus. It is the spirit that is reborn. The spirit that is renewed. Every day and especially during Christmas time when the worldly symbolism and the spiritual realities align.

The basic teaching is that Jesus is the King of Heaven. In order to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, one must be born again. This is a spiritual birth, not a physical birth. Jesus must be in your heart and you must turn away (repent) from the things that keep Jesus out of your heart. So the new King and the new Kingdom is also born again IN THE SPIRIT, every time someone repents and accepts Jesus into their heart. That said, when speaking about Jesus in terms of the spirit which is what Jesus taught, Jesus is born over and over and over again constantly everyday. The "newness" that is tripping people up is the spiritual renewal, the revival. That is all. b

The lyrics of this song and the word choices use the context of "heralding" the birth of a new king (newborn king). This song and the recollection of the Birth of the King is PRECISELY what Christmas is all about. You and anyone else trying to do the mental gymnastics around this are obviously tripping over the idea because he said "new king" and not "newborn king". But I don't even think you and others are tripping over this. It's either a willful ignorance of the preceding sentence where the reference to the birth and the new hope was introduced, or just simple ignorance that comes with lack of knowledge into the spirituality of the message of Christmas. I can understand why people who are not aware of the spiritual meaning of Jesus' birth may be offended. That is the only complaint (albeit a legacy complaint) that makes sense about this statement. I can also understand that without the proper context, the one sentence you bolded in the OP might be offensive to liberty. We have context, and we have the Christian spiritual doctrine at our disposal if we are really just interested in analyzing that statement. Somehow, I doubt that is what you are doing.

what a bunch of derps trying to twist a classic Christmas Carol and seasons greetings for political purposes. The message was totally in context but if you insist on twisting it, at least do it with some class. lol
