To stay based in reality is also important. Two LEOs on the scene said Trump was nicked in the ear by a shard of glass from a teleprompter that was hit. As a simple thought experiment, allow me to play devil's advocate. I'm not going to advocate for the devil himself, but for libtards. They say it was a setup to give Trump a chance to be heroic and achieve semi-martyr status. All the MSM is there, photographers are in the front row with their shutter speeds set to an unusually fast 1/8000 of a second. Bullets are fired behind his head with malice aforethought regarding innocent bystanders (gotta make this drama gripping). The libtards can't quite make sense of how it went down, but then there's lots of things atheists can't explain. But then God makes that already hard to see teleprompter completely invisible to the sniper. Bush used his buddy Hinckley's son to put the fear of god --small G because I'm talking about the CIA -- in Reagan. Why can't God use a shard of glass to put the fear of Him in Trump -- and sow seeds of distrust amongst the cabal? We can try to read the signs, but we can't afford to put faith in any of the mere theories until we test them thoroughly. And some we can't. Not even Trump can know for sure if he was nicked by a bullet or a shard of glass. Why? I don't know. Just because when something doesn't quite go according to their plan, they tend to let things slip? God's trying to give us glimpses of the men behind the curtain?

That's a good point, and well taken. But you're being reactionary -- defensive -- again. The people wizard was talking about exist. They know Trump has power and they want him to use it, they know God has power and they want Him to use it, if a fairy godmother appeared with a wand they'd want her to use it. You can almost imagine them in Jerusalem back in the day begging Jesus for a miracle, not because they need one, but the way an autograph hound would beg Penn and Teller to pull a coin from his ear. This is only a black pill for those hypocrites. And even then only if they refuse to repent and get over themselves.

A couple takes: I watched JD's speech. VERY populist message. I don't agree with a lot of it, but I get what they're trying to accomplish. I REALLY wish they'd go after the Fed which is at the root of all the mayhem, but I suppose one assassination attempt is enough for this cycle. (BTW, I still don't think they're done) Trump is really milking the ear patch thing, but I think it's a symbolic reminder of what they've done to him. They've called him illegitimate, they've orchestrated a coup based on a fake Russia hoax, they impeached him twice, they stole an election from him, they indicted him with novel legal theories, they've sued him, they convicted him of felonies, and now they tried to kill him - sorry, but I think the ear patches are ok.

Not sure if that quite rings a bell. You aren't thinking of the time Schumer flatly threatened him on behalf of the CIA, are you?

So Democrats stood idly by while the Democratic Party took the democratic process away from them by removing every name but one from their primary ballots, the way the Soviets did democracy. And now the adherents to the party of superdelegates are cheering the return of the "smoke filled room" just as though primaries were never celebrated as a triumph of democracy.

It's the same problem I have with the MAGA catchphrase. Government and politicians didn't make it great in the first place. It never does. Government can't make anything, much less anything great. The government power he wants to use to solve those problems created those problems. It can't solve them, it can only create more. Liberty solves problems.

Thanks. It was pretty scary there for awhile. I knew so many people who were at the rally. I was watching live looking for faces in the crowd when all hell broke loose and they cut the live feed. About 10 seconds after the shots, you could hear a lady shrieking, so I figured there were others hit but we didn’t get any names until the next day. Luckily, I didn’t know the victims directly, but it’s a small town. On a more conspiratorial note, I do wonder why they held it at the Farm Show…. He had a rally 4 years ago about 5 miles away at the Butler Airport. But I guess there weren’t any buildings they could call “outside the perimeter “ there.

2 hits. One in the chest and one in the liver. Dutch lives in New Kensington and goes to the same church as my sister-in-law. (I live about 2 hours away now, but Butler is my hometown. Lots of family and friends still live there. My dad lived on Eagle Mill right across 68 from the Farm Show and I split my teenage years there and with my mother.)

Of course, Biden has COVID-19, and then they can springboard from his "Positive" case to continue the narrative that SARS-CoV-2 is on the rise again, which means the incoming drop boxes for "mail-in ballots" can be warranted in order to "keep people safe from its spread."

Since when is the "We got a badass over here" meme "gay"? It's been all over the interwebz for many moons and it's used by all sorts of folks. There are several samples in the various "bestest picture thread evarrr"-s.
  8. The reason I have no use for monarchies is it's complete pot luck what you get. If your generation gets a Victoria, you could be in worse shape (assuming her advisors aren't lying to her about what they're doing), but if you get an Ivan the Terrible you're screwed. I prefer a system that at least holds out hope for nonviolent revolution, whether people are generally smart enough to use it or not.

And I'm pretty sure you meant neither Bismarck nor the kaiser.

    Chancellor von Bismarck
    President von Hindenburg

That help get the rust out of your history? 'Cause those who get rusty on history are liable to re-live the bad parts...

You're right, I should have said the Kaiser, not Bismarck. :/ (My WWI history is rather rusty...I do remember Hitler suffered from mustard gas inhalation during that war and a bunch of other factoids) Yeah, monarchs have been somewhat fascist in certain occasions, but they always had incentive not to destroy their subjects' economy or their own respective societies as presidents and prime ministers or even legislators do. (such elected officials almost always leave office very wealthy and almost never face justice for their misdeeds) Generally speaking, the best to worst scale goes- voluntary association with government>hereditary monarchy>monarchy>classical republicanism>modern constitutionalism>democracy etc.

What has it to do with politics? Everything. Politicians piss us off, then try to misdirect our anger 'across the aisle' to people who are fundamentally exactly the same, but wear a different party label. The game is age old, but still works.

People are angry, but they are often in denial about it. They know they're angry, but they don't want to admit they're angry
