Oh sure... they are tracked when they need to be. They have the data; it's just a matter of whether or not they choose to use it. Make a big enough stink and they will choose it. Agreed on everything else in your post. (BTW, I'm not a technologist or a futurist - I just choose to focus on the positive side... Maybe a stupid "optimist"?)

Of course there is - if only as corollary to the Law of Diminishing Returns. Even if we regard immigration as having no value - or even as having only negative value - then there is still some point "on the margin" at which (further) prevention of immigration becomes suboptimal. Even for entirely unmitigated "bads", there will always be some non-zero "optimal" amount. DISCLAIMER: I oppose all public immigration policies, from "zero immigration" to "open borders". I do not "take sides" on this issue any more than I "take sides" on whether public schools should teach evolution or creationism - or both, or neither. (The only correct answer to that question is, of course, "There shouldn't be any public schools ...") And despite the many glib and sanguine pronouncements emphatically made by those who have staked themselves to one or the other end of the "immigration policy" spectrum (as it is typically understood), the issue is fraught with "pick your poison" caveats at both ends ...

(Sorry for the late bump. Was just talking about this tonight.) The way I see it, in this day in age, they monitor cash just as easily as a card. Every bill is numbered and recorded each time it passes through a bank. It's not hard to know which cash went to which person in between. At least on your higher denominations. People take that money out of one bank, give to a business, who then puts it right back in another bank. Sure, the ones and fives might get recirculated a few times before they hit the bank, but with fewer people using cash?? It just means the money doesn't flow as fast between people. So it's more likely to return the bank these days. They got computers crunching data a lot harder than this. If anyone is trying to hide from the evil eye, this is probably not a very effective way to do so. They've gotcha either way.

Challenge accepted ... Not letting non-whites into the country? That's racist. "Equally" not letting whites into the country, either? So what? You're not letting non-whites in. Still racist. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Workin' on it. Tesla recycles batteries.. I have been an advocate for Hydrogen since the 70s,,, There are several ways of producing Electricity,, that require no fuel once built.. Hydro, wind, and geothermal,, as well as our HUGE supply of Coal,, Electricity is a proven dependable power,, and Fuel cells are one solution to portable power. Batteries are improving as well,, to the point that cars have become a reality,, Still room for improvement.

And if I confirm that you've done a 180 degree about face on this topic, will you also say I don't know what I'm talking about? I know that suits your urge to be abrasive, which is one area where you've been consistent through your blatant effort to torpedo the Blue Republican initiative (which actually worked pretty well in Iowa) and your effort to sell everyone a class (which taught you certain Gospel Truths which you now deny) and your adolescent R rated comments about one or two of Ron Paul's granddaughters. But I can dig up proof your positions have indeed shifted with the wind if I have to. Maybe you should simmer down and stop insulting people, eh?

The oil companies rule the world. They already killed King Coal, but the recent insanity of declaring carbon dioxide (which forests adore) to be a pollutant proves the oil cartel won't be content until it dances on the coal industry's grave. But as much havoc as the oil/plastic industry has wreaked on American lives and the American ecology and economy, that's nothing compared to what the wars they bribed Washington to start have done to the economy, ecology and lives of the Middle East.

Makes me think of Woodrow Wilson's speech at the end of his term. "I am a most unhappy man..." yeah, that one, and he was referring to having created the Federal Reserve, and the IRS.

well that part is true.. There is junk science being promoted by "legitimate" sources. There is a lot of ongoing research,,and Development.. and there are the same Social Controllers trying to hinder it.. and a lot of unfounded claims on both sides. and the definition of schizophrenia changes with elections. There are no ethics in that industry.

So, what happens when People are treated as Property under Eminent Domain? For example, since Immigrants need money and food, why not just make YOU work for them? Nothing you work for is your own, and because "they have a greater need", they deserve your stuff, your labor, what you would buy with money earned from that labor, and they will not be expected to contribute to the system that supports them. How could such a system not collapse?

No one can learn about the world by not interacting with it. Put the fucking cell phone away, go learn to have a conversation, cook a meal, use a screwdriver, change a lightbulb, and actually interact and talk with people instead of texting the person youre in the same fucking room with.

Since when is the "We got a badass over here" meme "gay"? It's been all over the interwebz for many moons and it's used by all sorts of folks. There are several samples in the various "bestest picture thread evarrr"-s.
  8. The reason I have no use for monarchies is it's complete pot luck what you get. If your generation gets a Victoria, you could be in worse shape (assuming her advisors aren't lying to her about what they're doing), but if you get an Ivan the Terrible you're screwed. I prefer a system that at least holds out hope for nonviolent revolution, whether people are generally smart enough to use it or not.

And I'm pretty sure you meant neither Bismarck nor the kaiser.

    Chancellor von Bismarck
    President von Hindenburg

That help get the rust out of your history? 'Cause those who get rusty on history are liable to re-live the bad parts...

You're right, I should have said the Kaiser, not Bismarck. :/ (My WWI history is rather rusty...I do remember Hitler suffered from mustard gas inhalation during that war and a bunch of other factoids) Yeah, monarchs have been somewhat fascist in certain occasions, but they always had incentive not to destroy their subjects' economy or their own respective societies as presidents and prime ministers or even legislators do. (such elected officials almost always leave office very wealthy and almost never face justice for their misdeeds) Generally speaking, the best to worst scale goes- voluntary association with government>hereditary monarchy>monarchy>classical republicanism>modern constitutionalism>democracy etc.

What has it to do with politics? Everything. Politicians piss us off, then try to misdirect our anger 'across the aisle' to people who are fundamentally exactly the same, but wear a different party label. The game is age old, but still works.

People are angry, but they are often in denial about it. They know they're angry, but they don't want to admit they're angry
