Not sure if this has been posted, but here is the official Warrant. I haven't read it yet, but it doesn't look good that some of the boxes were labeled TOP SECRET. https://www.npr.org/2022/08/12/1117277865/read-the-full-warrant-documents-from-fbi-search-of-trumps-mar-a-lago-home

Trains. Socialists LOVE trains. It's like the perfect central-planning fantasy where you can pick up human cargo at a point of your choosing and deliver it to a point of your choosing without all that mess of individual decision-making. The ultimate goal is to push the entire public into what they call "autonomous" or "self-driving" electric vehicles. It's like a central planner's wet dream because it's like trains, but without the limitations of tracks. You won't "own" a car - you'll request one to pick you up and take you where you want to go. You won't pay for fuel, maintenance, or insurance directly... that'll be wrapped up in the price of the mobility "service". And if you happen to cross the line in your political beliefs or activities and wind up on the wrong side of "the law", you will be picked up and routed to the nearest detention facility.

If they are such an "overwhelming swath", then 3rd party voters or abstainers cannot make any difference, and are therefore irrelevant. But if 3rd party voters or abstainers can make a difference, then the "swath" to which you are referring obviously cannot be "overwhelming". Words have meanings. You don't get to have it both ways.

Here's the thing, it's not 100% "government" fatwas. In fact, more importantly, these are fatwas from the institutional investment community. The Bernstein Strategic Decisions Conference is where CEO's get up in front of investors to tell them how they're bending the knee and then beg them for money. That's right - global conglomerates in banking and finance. They've been captured by this so-called "green" movement. World governments (including ours) have given guidance to the banking industry to stop providing loans to anything related to fossil fuels. But this guidance wasn't needed for the BIG institutions - only for the small ones who weren't following the plans. The big institutions are leading this. (*note that they had to rescind some of that guidance recently because it drove up the price of energy too fast) In a capital intensive industry like energy, if you don't maintain access to capital, you are dead. And these central planners know that. Unfortunately, a change in government will do little to stop this momentum. We really need to peel away the socialists from these global financial institutions. They control the entire game right now.

Just finished reading Alex's new book and I highly recommend it. (his previous work, The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels, is also a good read, but this one is more clear.) https://www.amazon.com/Fossil-Future-Flourishing-Requires-Gas-Not My review: The central premise of this book is that our "knowledge system" surrounding fossil fuels and its environmental impacts suffers from an "anti-impact" framework instead of a "human flourishing" framework. In general, what he's getting at is that most environmentalists and the general zeitgeist of our time are not really opposed to fossil fuels as much as they are opposed to anything that may impact the environment - positively or negatively. Which means they are really opposed to human development. Because human development necessarily involves making our environment a better place to live. Because of this, he refers to this framework as "anti-human", which I think is a proper way to frame the discussion. As a contrast, he lays out a "human flourishing" framework to view the same science based on not only negative side effects of energy sources, but the immense positive benefits of these sources. Low cost energy in the "empowered world" has led to a 98% reduction in climate-related deaths over the last 100 years. Besides that, the time we have saved from fossil-fueled machine power has benefited us in a myriad of scientific advancements that would have otherwise been impossible. Air is cleaner, water is cleaner, less of our time is used in finding food, and our standard of living is higher than kings just a few hundred years ago. Meanwhile, those in the "unempowered world" are still suffering from a lack of low-cost energy. He acknowledges the side-effects of burning fossil fuels and using nuclear energy, but demonstrates that even in those cases, these energy sources provide a great deal of "climate mastery" that allows us to overcome those side-effects for the benefit of human flourishing.

Since when is the "We got a badass over here" meme "gay"? It's been all over the interwebz for many moons and it's used by all sorts of folks. There are several samples in the various "bestest picture thread evarrr"-s.
  8. The reason I have no use for monarchies is it's complete pot luck what you get. If your generation gets a Victoria, you could be in worse shape (assuming her advisors aren't lying to her about what they're doing), but if you get an Ivan the Terrible you're screwed. I prefer a system that at least holds out hope for nonviolent revolution, whether people are generally smart enough to use it or not.

And I'm pretty sure you meant neither Bismarck nor the kaiser.

    President von Hindenburg

You're right, I should have said the Kaiser, not Bismarck. :/ (My WWI history is rather rusty...I do remember Hitler suffered from mustard gas inhalation during that war and a bunch of other factoids) Yeah, monarchs have been somewhat fascist in certain occasions, but they always had incentive not to destroy their subjects' economy or their own respective societies as presidents and prime ministers or even legislators do. (such elected officials almost always leave office very wealthy and almost never face justice for their misdeeds) Generally speaking, the best to worst scale goes- voluntary association with government>hereditary monarchy>monarchy>classical republicanism>modern constitutionalism>democracy etc.

What has it to do with politics? Everything. Politicians piss us off, then try to misdirect our anger 'across the aisle' to people who are fundamentally exactly the same, but wear a different party label. The game is age old, but still works.

People are angry, but they are often in denial about it. They know they're angry, but they don't want to admit they're angry
