Nobody knows who coined the phrase. Everybody knows Alexander Hamilton said it, but few know that particular A. H. was a reporter in England in the 1970s.

The Obamabots and the Trumpcucks look at me the same way, treat me the same way, and swear upon whatever is holy to them that I am the other one on that short list. Their faith--there's no other word for it--is so critical to them. But they only cling to it because they can't manage, or more likely, don't want to bother with, thinking critically or having principles. As Will Rogers said, you can only get as much liberty as you give. And these trolls who want to divide people into factions and deprive those people of life, liberty and a chance at happiness are trying to deprive themselves if the same--and me, too. And they wonder why I object. I object for their own good. I don't expect to be thanked when I interfere with someone who's trying to shoot their own foot. So I start a thread about privacy and it gets spammed by a doxxer who claims to be a conservative. Liberal warmongers who favor screwing the poor with federal middlemen and shrinking "dollars" and conservative doxxers who scream for boondoggles that can be defeated by anyone with an airplane. The propagandists must be laughing their asses off at how they've turned everyone upside down. If you stand for nothing you really will fall for anything, and partisanship really us the very definition of standing for nothing.

I hope that in another 10 years time, we have the Freedom to actually debate on our perceived differences. We are all of us victims of the Criminal Elite that want nothing more to enslave and pretty much destroy the best parts of humanity. Look no further than how we fight amongst ourselves. Politics isnt going to resolve anything, and the only people I am absolutely against are people that openly advocate for the Weaponized Money. You all know of whom I speak. Some of the inflammatory posts Ive made, Ive done my best to make sure that its known they are Devils Advocate posts, thus challenging winning ideas to see how well people can handle them, but not because I believe them. Religion wont save us. The Democrats wont save us. The Reublicans wont save us. Immigrants wont save us. More Debt wont save us. The Russians wont save us. GOD himself will not save us. The only thing we can do is work TOGETHER and recognize the real threats to Freedom and Liberty, despite our differences. I think it is only when we take the Moral High Road, and flat out defend our Right to be different unto each other, despite our many differences that we all sometimes respond to with strong emotions that we have a chance of overcoming the manipulative group of a few dominant men. Let me remind you all that those dominant men WANT YOU FIGHTING WITH EACH OTHER. I dont agree with anyone here on 100% at all times, and it is NOT my goal. Never has been as it is a fools goal. What DOES work is to flat out protect peoples beliefs, be them right or wrong, and instead of saying "your wrong" take that Moral High Road and simply offer better ways. Does that persons idea work? For them, it may be the best idea, but for someone else, not as well. Should I tell them they are wrong? Thats something I hope people are wise enough to evaluate different ideas, and see if there is an idea that works better than the currently held belief. We waste time saying "youre wrong" or "youre a Troll". Take the Moral High Road, be the better man, lead by example, and let us follow better ideas than holding on to good ideas that have flaws. Im redefining myself constantly. Are you all? Back on topic. This is why being Spied upon is so destructive. And it is playing out exactly as it is intended to do in this thread on this page. Ending Privacy allows those who have access to data on you to create Bubbles around you. These Bubbles keeps the mind trapped by reinforcing with currently held beliefs. At the same time, what is absolutely important is kept away from you on the outside of your personalized Bubble. Amazon is a good example. Amazon also traps both the consumer and the producer in different kinds of Bubbles. Consumers on the inside of the Amazon Bubble are unaware of retailers and producers outside of Amazons Bubble. Retailers and Producers that dont allow themselves to be controlled by Amazon are kept away from all the people inside the Amazon Bubble. Amazon has effectively become the Market by building these Bubbles around people. Youre either on the inside of the Bubble, or on the outside, and its getting more and more expensive to remain on the outside of the Bubble. Reinforcing each individuals ideas back to themselves keeps them very effectively distracted.

Not by his definition. He doesn't believe a Republican can be a troll, even if his name is Bush or McCain. He was also conveniently absent (at least he pretends to be a Johnny-come-lately) when the forum was overrun with Obamabots, and we gave them hell. The trolls due jour have changed, but that doesn't make us partisan. If he really thinks i can't punch left when there's an asshole over there, that's just because he hasn't done his research. But, you know, fair and honest isn't his job. A partisan simply has to try to make everything partisan. Neither fairness nor honesty is necessary. Note my sig. That's the whole game right now, isn't it? Partisan divide and conquer. Republicans are screaming for a boondoggle wall that costs billions, but can be defeated by a few guys with a hundred bucks' worth of shovels and shoring timbers, and liberals are crying because we might stop bombing brown babies. Principle is just a quaint, old fashioned notion. Partisanship uber alles. and all to distract us from a brave new world where the government doesn't even tell us how much they're spending to eliminate our privacy. But I didn't actually start this thread with the intention of paying attention to attention whores. So what say we save it for one of their threads?

I was going to say exactly the same thing. Abolish "victimless" crimes. Apply restitution and other remedies rather than incarceration wherever possible. Otherwise, "attempts to shuffle defendants through the legal system as efficiently as possible" is just a bunch of worthless happy-talk, whether you use "automated tools" or not. This. The hundred fifty years of propaganda doesn't even pretend government "participation" in the market isn't evil. The official line merely has people convinced that it's a necessary evil. Of course, Coolidge proved otherwise. But people reject those lessons out of hand because Coolidge didn't do anything. He actually did quite a lot. He protected us from government corruption by preventing government participation. Then Hoover, a major progressive, screwed everything up and Coolidge was framed for half the blame because they were both Republicans (though Coolidge considered Hoover an idiot). We all want to believe the truth will out. But we're clearly going to have to help it out.

Since when is the "We got a badass over here" meme "gay"? It's been all over the interwebz for many moons and it's used by all sorts of folks. There are several samples in the various "bestest picture thread evarrr"-s.
  8. The reason I have no use for monarchies is it's complete pot luck what you get. If your generation gets a Victoria, you could be in worse shape (assuming her advisors aren't lying to her about what they're doing), but if you get an Ivan the Terrible you're screwed. I prefer a system that at least holds out hope for nonviolent revolution, whether people are generally smart enough to use it or not.

And I'm pretty sure you meant neither Bismarck nor the kaiser.

    Chancellor von Bismarck
    President von Hindenburg

That help get the rust out of your history? 'Cause those who get rusty on history are liable to re-live the bad parts...

You're right, I should have said the Kaiser, not Bismarck. :/ (My WWI history is rather rusty...I do remember Hitler suffered from mustard gas inhalation during that war and a bunch of other factoids) Yeah, monarchs have been somewhat fascist in certain occasions, but they always had incentive not to destroy their subjects' economy or their own respective societies as presidents and prime ministers or even legislators do. (such elected officials almost always leave office very wealthy and almost never face justice for their misdeeds) Generally speaking, the best to worst scale goes- voluntary association with government>hereditary monarchy>monarchy>classical republicanism>modern constitutionalism>democracy etc.

What has it to do with politics? Everything. Politicians piss us off, then try to misdirect our anger 'across the aisle' to people who are fundamentally exactly the same, but wear a different party label. The game is age old, but still works.

People are angry, but they are often in denial about it. They know they're angry, but they don't want to admit they're angry
