I think a lot of that has much more to do with the facts that: 1) Back then women actually put forth an effort to BE attractive, and 2) Nowadays a great many women try very hard to be UNattractive. If you add to that the fact that the attitudes and beliefs held by many women today tend to render them unattractive regardless of any pure physical beauty they may possess, and well…

My prediction is that they make some short-term cuts to make it appear like they are doing something, but everyone will await the final report due July 4th 2026. That report, while it will show areas for further and long-lasting cuts to government, will become a focal point of the 2026 mid-term election. The left will try to tag their opponents with supporting the plan for draconian cuts to "vital services that people depend on", and the right will try to appeal to the base, while only supporting "parts" of the plan. Musk, Vivek and the Twittersphere will aim to put political pressure on the right to run on it fully. Then, once the election is over and the dust settles, it'll be a distant memory like every other government commission that offers up practical solutions that aren't remotely politically viable. The only interesting part will be which message carries the mid-term elections.

LOL one of the reasons I warmed up to RFK is because I found my crazy food thing. My dad suffered serious mental decline over the last five years, and he was not only an aviator and surrounded by aluminum his whole career, but my mom cooked for the family off bare aluminum pans for almost 50 years. And I decided you know, whether or not there's good science linking aluminum with mental decline, that's at least a really easy one to eliminate. So I found my thing. So when I watch this video, I'm thinking, come on, man....

I've said a couple times, government has one thing that it's incredibly efficient at - ruining and ending lives. I don't take Musk for the kind of guy who won't even look inside of those programs. I have a prediction on this - we'll see what happens, but here's my prediction. Musk/Ramaswamy/et al will do a thorough analysis and we'll get a full list of everything that could get cut immediately - basically everything analogous to the National Helium Reserve that was created to supply our 1930s zeppelin fleet that apparently still isn't totally auctioned off almost a century later. That stuff, the forehead-slappingly obvious stuff, might get addressed and we might see a 5% decrease in spending as a result.

Clearly they lacked sufficient tariffs to protect domestic agricultural producers. Allowing all that free trade was no doubt a major causative factor in the wars with the indiginous peoples that came later. Fortunately we know better nowadays.

That's the video I'm talking about. Those flashes are being played in reverse. That is a video of a multiple missile launch being played backwards to make it look like multiple war heads landed. For one thing, they wouldn't be visible if they were coming down. If they were coming down, they would be exploding at ground level and there are no explosions. The video appears to be fake!

Homeschool FTW. “Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.” — Harry Truman And it starts with Public Education where children are taught with careful hands that theres no such thing as two genders, 1 + 1 = 11, CO2 is bad, and to worship the ground that govt stands upon. Public Education DIVIDES FAMILIES by teaching children that the STATE is their family, not their mothers and fathers and brothers and sisters.

No one is trying to change your principles. It's a matter of making you aware of the vision you hold and getting you to understand that it's one that most of us do not share. The unconstrained vision is the one held by leftists, only their utopia is different than yours. But your comments and actions mimic them since you share the lens in which they view the world. We all care - otherwise we wouldn't be here. For some reason, you think it's beneficial to call me leftist, which to me is insane. Again, it's the constrained vision thinking the unconstrained vision is detached from reality. I'm an individualist, first and foremost. When it comes to most policy, I lean right.

Not sure what they do for the name but even Washington Football team with the old logo bests Commanders with the stupid W. Or just name them Washington Warriors with old logo and be done.

Regardless where I came from, I'm standing in the same place as you right now. And if not the exact same place, we can at least touch fingers. And yet I'm excited, and you're not. I'm not excited because of what Trump is going to do. I mean there's some of that, because there's some incremental improvement queued up to happen. I'm excited because this is basically Obama times a thousand. We have ourselves a genuine political savior coming in. And when he fails to deliver, the way Obama failed, he's going to fail a thousand times worse and people are going to be a thousand times more pissed about it. Obama's failures are a big part of the reason why Trump got elected this time. Giant authoritarian government has clearly been rejected. Everyone is on the minarchism page right now. You and I both know that what we have always had for our entire lives is minarchism. The problem isn't going away because the existence of the state is the problem. They might give the monster a haircut and it'll grow back as fast as hair.

Before I started thinking about the issues, I probably leaned left. Might have been a product of growing up in the ghettos of DC? But by the time I was old enough to vote, I joined the LP. Once I saw the pointless circular firing squad up close, I sat out. Only to be re-invigored when Ron Paul ran for President. I'll take Bhattacharya all day to lead the NIH!

If you haven't already, you should read A Conflict of Visions, by Thomas Sowell. It's a small side-step from this thread, but I think it explains your thinking. Those with a constrained vision see the world as it is and seek the best trade-offs. Those with the unconstrained vision see the world as they would like it to be and get upset when confronted with history or facts. They want to be 'unburdened by what has been'. Those with the unconstrained vision are likely to view those with the constrained vision as uncaring or evil. Those with the constrained vision area likely to view those with the unconstrained vision as being detached from reality. Generally, those with the unconstrained vision lean left, but that's not a steadfast rule - you just need to imagine your perfect world and judge every event compared against that. Those with the constrained vision understand that we have always lived in an imperfect world and will continue to do so forever. Both visions have their uses, but from my experience and observation, if you apply the unconstrained vision to the practical world, you become unhappy, pessimistic, and unpleasant to be around. Conversely, if you apply the constrained vision to your long-range plans and desires, you become stagnant and can lose the impulse to achieve greater things. The wise man knows when to apply which vision. As far as trade-offs go in the practical reality in which we live, Gaetz is pretty damned good. What's more, the entrenched interests in government know he's a problem which is why they try to destroy him.

Since when is the "We got a badass over here" meme "gay"? It's been all over the interwebz for many moons and it's used by all sorts of folks. There are several samples in the various "bestest picture thread evarrr"-s.
  8. The reason I have no use for monarchies is it's complete pot luck what you get. If your generation gets a Victoria, you could be in worse shape (assuming her advisors aren't lying to her about what they're doing), but if you get an Ivan the Terrible you're screwed. I prefer a system that at least holds out hope for nonviolent revolution, whether people are generally smart enough to use it or not.

And I'm pretty sure you meant neither Bismarck nor the kaiser.

    Chancellor von Bismarck
    President von Hindenburg

You're right, I should have said the Kaiser, not Bismarck. :/ (My WWI history is rather rusty...I do remember Hitler suffered from mustard gas inhalation during that war and a bunch of other factoids) Yeah, monarchs have been somewhat fascist in certain occasions, but they always had incentive not to destroy their subjects' economy or their own respective societies as presidents and prime ministers or even legislators do. (such elected officials almost always leave office very wealthy and almost never face justice for their misdeeds) Generally speaking, the best to worst scale goes- voluntary association with government>hereditary monarchy>monarchy>classical republicanism>modern constitutionalism>democracy etc.

What has it to do with politics? Everything. Politicians piss us off, then try to misdirect our anger 'across the aisle' to people who are fundamentally exactly the same, but wear a different party label. The game is age old, but still works.

People are angry, but they are often in denial about it. They know they're angry, but they don't want to admit they're angry
