As a Seventh Day Adventist I'm not sure how to take this. We're traditionally anti-pope but also traditionally believe in annihilationism. (Malichi 4:1 "The wicked shall be stubble." Eze 28:18-19 "I will bring they to ashes...never shalt though be any more." Eze 18:20 "The soul that sins shall die.") It's definitely strange days we're living in.

I have a friend who lives in the Bahamas who's million dollar home was destroyed in the hurricane. He has and at the time had insurance. He still hasn't gotten a settlement check yet because the insurance company said they are still paying off for Puerto Rico. Make of that what you will. I have another friend who's home was destroyed as a result of the Nashville flood in 2010. He had flood insurance, but the insurance company wouldn't pay because they said the damage was from a mud slide and he didn't have earth moving insurance. Make of that what you will too.

I recently blew a head gasket and was going to get it repaired but the shop said, because the car was turbo charged, it would cost as much to fix it as it would be to buy another engine. So much for "reduce, reuse, recycle."

You act like Rand doesn't have to worry about simply getting re-elected to his senate seat. Yes his teocon base went with Trump. The Truthers also in large went to Trump thanks to Alex Jones. (I know it pains people here to admit it, but the truthers helped Ron more than they hurt.) I was in favor of Rand winning without pandering to teocons and I think he could have but that didn't happen and now we are where we are. As it stands, what just happened is no big deal. Rand forced Trump and Pompeo to publicly re-affirm commitments to get out of Syria and Libya. That's about as good as you're going to get.

Sorry for not being more explicit but Ron Paul already told us what can go wrong and Trump has already started doing the wrong! In addition to what I already posted, there's the fact that we now have a "constitution free zone" called the border area. For nearly 2 decades now (or more), people like Alex Jones have been railing against face scanning cameras, have been unwilling to accept that in the name of fighting terrorism, Trump does it in the name of fighting illegal immigrants...and....crickets. Had Bush called the Patriot Act the "Patriot and keep out the brown people Act" there might not have ever been any opposition from the right to it. Fact 1 is not "obvious." In fact AntiFederalist seemed to think the idea that Hispanics, many of who are NOT "illegal" or criminal in any sense of the word, might be more likely to identify as libertarian than whites. Further the libertarian party isn't the only party to embrace lowering barriers to immigration. There's also the democratic party and the socialist party. So it's not "obvious" that immigrants, illegal or otherwise, criminal or otherwise, would embrace the libertarian party over other alternatives. But certainly they would be more willing to go with the LP than the GOP.

Well I guess that's an optimistic way to look at it because I guarantee you there will still be U.S. troops in Afghanistan and most likely Syria in 2020. At this point I wouldn't hold my breath on getting troops back out of Iraq! https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/06/middleeast/american-troops-iraq-intl/index.html

Giving up liberty in order to keep foreigners from taking away our liberty? What could go wrong? Trump implements face scanning cameras by executive order to fight illegal immigration. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/01/us/politics/federal-border-agents-biometric-scanning-system-undocumented-immigrants.html

How does the statistic you quote undermine undergroundrr's point? Trump isn't libertarian (as in not even CLOSE with the whole "face scanning camera by executive order to fight illegal immigration") thing, and the Libertarian Party platform embraces undocumented immigrants. https://www.lp.org/issues/immigration/ Libertarians believe that if someone is peaceful, they should be welcome to immigrate to the United States. Libertarians believe that people should be able to travel freely as long as they are peaceful. We welcome immigrants who come seeking a better life. The vast majority of immigrants are very peaceful and highly productive. Indeed, the United States is a country of immigrants, of all backgrounds and walks of life…some families have just been here for more generations than others. Newcomers bring great vitality to our society. A truly free market requires the free movement of people, not just products and ideas.

Rand said he absolutely would not vote for Pompeo? Or did he say he would vote against Pompeo unless Pompeo changed his mind about whether Iraq was a mistake and whether we should get out of Afghanistan and Syria? I'm asking because I honestly don't know. Source? Revelation 3:16 So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

To everyone worrying in 2018 about how Rand is doing things..... 1) I told you this would happen back in 2010. 2) It ain't as bad as you think. 3) In about a month or two you'll be over it. 4) I know this about #3...because I've seen the pattern before.

In light of Rand's actual subsequent vote his questioning style makes perfect sense. He laid out his concerns in a "I really hope to see it my way"...way...and then voted for Pompeo, I assume, in the hope that Pompeo got the message. Not satisfying to the grassroots I know but....well in hindsight you should have seen that coming.

It's funny how in debates with TER I've found contradictions and room for multiple interpretations in the "Church Fathers." So that's an "epic fail" squared. Here is a simple matter of faith. Either you believe in that God is real, He really loves you, and he really wants to connect and communicate directly to you, and you accept His promises that He will do just that.....or you don't. That's why Jesus gave the parable of the gifts fathers give their children. Luke 11:11-13 11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” And Paul continued on that theme. James 1:5 "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

    A) That's not at all true. John 4:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever. Acts 2:3-4 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them Acts 19:1-7 While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2 and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed? They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

I don't know. But he has new ammunition to vote against it. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-04-23/trump-s-cia-nominee-haspel-faces-opposition-from-ex-generals And FTR I haven't gone against Rand on this vote. Yes it's disappointing, but as I said, he's still done better than what could have been expected the way he ran for Senate the first time.

You know someone brought to my attention something very fishy about that. Why was Rand even cutting his own grass? They don't have a budget for a groundskeeper? And it takes a lot of force to do that much damage. Just a "tackle" shouldn't do that.

Considering Rand's history why is anybody here surprised? Rand isn't going to take a principled stand just because it's well...principled. There's got to be a winning angle in it somewhere. Seriously folks thought Rand was just going to play a role during the campaign for senate, actually get elected, get a taste of power and then say "Screw you teocon voters! I'm balls to the walls liberty and I just sounded teocon to get your vote!" Seriously nothing I've seen Rand do since being elected senator is even close to as bad as he sounded when first running for senator. I have super low expectations of Rand....so I'm never disappointed. You are 100% right here. Trump could just "Walk em out" (the troops) if he wanted to. The idea that we have to "stay to fight ISIS" or now "Stay to contain Assad" is the biggest joke ever. And here's my real fear on Syria. Trump is an egomaniac that loves praise. When are the only two times now in his presidency that he's been universally praised by the liberal media? Why when he's bombing Syria of course! The conservative media is split. So that means he gets all the liberal media and roughly have the conservative media on his side for this crap. #winning #maga

Which is not at all to suggest that Ron owns the vote of Johnson supporters, just that if Ron Paul supporters think it won't matter to divert a little voting Johnson's way, it very well could.
