I recently met a female musician who has has a band that is made up of men and women and is dissapointed that she the band ia not yet made up of entirely women. By her tone and demeanor i presume she would fire her excellent male drummer and bassist for females whether they were to be as good or even slightly worse as the current males to fit an idealiatic image instead of improving the quality of those two instrumental positions. My assuption is that this is discriminatory and offensive in a sexist way, and that her band should be about whats best for the art its trying to express instead of possibly sacrificing that for idealism or image in the sake for promoting
female musicians. My girlfriend dissagrees, i used a quote from MLK in our debate "that inequality anywhere is inequality everywhere" to express my unbiasessness but we ended our disscusion without an agreement. Anyone have thoughts t9 share on this case?
