Snap deployments of B-52H's to Diego Garcia are nothing new. Twice in 2018 they were deployed and did South China Sea freedom of navigation flights. Earlier this year they did one and everyone thought it was about Iran, but instead it was to bomb some mountainsides in Afghanistan. No one is opening a war with Iran with a flight of B-52s. But, believe want ya want man. XNN

And yet, we are all True Believers in our own beliefs. It is human nature to only be convinced of those things we are unsure of. https://philosophynow.org/issues/34/The_True_Believer_Revisited Now, arrogance and self-righteousness are totally separate from true belief. All you need is a mis-wired insular cortex. https://medium.com/wholistique/the-neuroscience-of-narcissism-5f094bf17d65 By nature, those traits are found in the actual climate deniers (not science manipulators for political gains) and therefore those individuals will poo-poo quantitative studies done in MRI's.

https://thediplomat.com/2020/03/joe-bidens-record-on-china-and-taiwan/ So, should Hong Kong believe four decades of actions by Joe Biden in regards to China or should they expect the 2020 candidate persona of Joe Biden. I'm not sure I would be betting my life on the latter. I personally expect an executive order in the first three months of the new Administration blocking immigration from HK and an expectation that other countries follow our lead. Of course, those who opposed Trump's immigration orders can be expected to remain mum in this eventuality. XNN

Agreed. Our uneducated electorate falls for clickbait like this because of the media-driven assumption that Israel is monolithic. They have major parties as well on their spectrum. It is quite possible for one set of DC insiders to be pro-Likud and another Pro-Labor. I'm sure it is possible for an Israeli to be pro-American and either support the far end of the Dems or the far end of the Repubs. It only matters where their toast get buttered. XNN

Preparing a batch of Stone Fence. I have two cider apples trees in the orchard - Calville Blanc D'Hiver and Kingston Black. I have a six gallon batch of cider going right now. I added some of my honey to bring the potential alcohol content up to 16%, which technically makes it a cyser. I will probably mate it with Eagle Rare, which is a straight bourbon whiskey. 1:30 point. History shows again and again that authoritarians love acting on their enemies list. Also repeated, third parties are more than happy to turn over any lists they've compiled, even though they were done so with the most benign of intentions. The graft must go on. XNN

What a difference a couple of generations make. In WW2, soldiers could bring back functional automatic weapons as long as they paid the $200 tax. A friendly reminder in a 1946 Virginia newspaper. The current generation you can't bring so much as a bottle opener back without a proctology exam because you might scare the civilians. How do I get this back? https://www.dvidshub.net/news/137823/do-get-back A different world.

PDF warning. https://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/2010/2010.08344.pdf First sentence of the concluding paragraph. I'm unclear on how I should interact with "life". I'm sure that most of the authors of the document and the signatories consider multi-celled embryos not to be "life". That would leave me to believe that the document is referring to sentient or near-sentient aliens. I think is it safe to say we won't be finding any of those in our solar system. We can expect an update to the document when warp drive is successfully tested. XNN

He earned a "DISPUTED" tag on a social media platform with a statement of the obvious. :aok: Second sentence was a question, not a claim. The only claim in the tweet was 1 million deceased individuals receiving checks. This was reported by the neo-feudalist's own legacy media (WaPo) back in June. I'm thinking now that social media algorithms simply look for a number and the word "vote" in any persons feed from any individual whose browser history shows they may have strayed outside the borders of the fiefdom. Yes, it is a good thing that they are siting offshore. Power output of a wind turbine is proportional to the speed of the wind cubed. Almost all high value pieces of geography for wind is offshore. (See map) The emergy yield ratio of these regions is about 6. The wind turbines on the continental US have an EMR of about 2 only in some small regions of Oklahoma. By the time you include the embodied energy required to tie those distributed wind sources into the grid, your barely break-even. Wouldn't be profitable without your gracious tax dollars supporting it, unlike fracked natural gas which has an EMR of about 4 even in low yield fields. As to the video you posted, Orange Man correctly identified three of the negative externalities associated with wind farms - lowered real estate values, the potential for increased cancer risks (though through EMF not sound), and increased kills of avians (birds & bats). All three of these are mitigated through locating wind farms offshore. Assuming over-the-horizon, there are no real estate values to be effected. Bringing the combined output onshore at a single point reduces populations to high voltage fields when compared to distributed onshore farms, and while the wind turbines still pose a threat to birds if improperly located relative to migration flyways, bats don't travel very far offshore. Looks like a win(d) for the UK. Thanks for posting. XNN

Maybe their followers in the urban cores but not themselves. Such protests are cute and merely serve their own purposes of portraying anyone not on their team and those without PhD's in "<insert> studies" as being unworthy, ignorant hayseeds.
