Who can forget about this?
Back in October of 2007, I started getting interested in the presidential candidates. My parents were (real) anti-war Democrats, so I (as a young kid) just got on the Gore and Kerry train. When the Democrats took over the House back in 2007 and nothing changed, I felt pretty betrayed as a supporter of the Democratic Party. I also became interested in civil liberties issues (particularly the Patriot Act). So when early October roles around, I decide to go on Wikipedia and look up the presidential candidates. I ignored Obama and Clinton because by this time I figured they were just shills for the establishment. I saw Kucinich and Gravel, but knew they really had no chance to win. So I went ahead and did something I thought I would never do, see if their was a Republican I could support (I hated Bush, but was pretty pissed off at the Democrats). I see McCain (war mongerer) Giuliana (everything is wrong with him) Romney (just some rich guy) then I finally found him.......
Mike Huckabee.
I'm a good Christian, so why not support the Baptist minister? Sure he was for the war in Iraq, but he was a Christian!
After a few days (if that), I knew something did not feel right with Huckabee, so off to Wikipedia I went. That's when I finally stumbled upon Ron Paul. Holy $#!&. A lightbulb finally went off. This was the man I've been looking for all along. That afternoon there was a CNBC debate in Michigan. It was at this moment I was hooked:
I still didn't think Ron Paul had much of a chance at that point...until November 6th. I was watching CNN and heard about the previous day's moneybomb. I was extremely impressed by the money raised, and never wanted to miss another one...which is how I ended up on this site a couple of weeks later. The next two months were insane (December 16th moneybomb, the blimp
, throwing snowballs at Sean Hannity).
Didn't expect to reminisce with this thread, but those first two big moneybombs always hold a special place in my heart. It made me want to get involved in the campaign, which lead to an education I never imagined. Thanks RPF!
Rand Paul, Johnson may as well be a democrat

"The debt, the deficit this year will be $1.5-2 trillion, and that's Mike...
