Google Translate: The Spanish Government has decided to stop selling weapons to Israel during the month of August as a result of the war in the Gaza Strip, in respect of which the Executive has been showing critical of the military intervention in Palestine Tel Aviv regime.

The resolution, diplomatic sources confirmed to THE WORLD will be reviewed next month September, adopted last Thursday at a meeting of the Interministerial Regulatory Board on Foreign Trade in Defence and Dual-Use, in which the Secretariat are represented of State for Trade (Ministry of Finance) and other departments under the Presidency (National Intelligence Center), Foreign Affairs, Defence and Finance.

Although the volume of arms sales to Tel Aviv is very limited, it is a political gesture unprecedented government of Mariano Rajoy. Since last Thursday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel García-Margallo, called on Congress to "shocking" figures of casualties in Gaza and recognized "the right of Israel to protect its citizens," but "tied to the top proportionality and respect for civil protection they deserve. UK seeking to ensure Russia sanctions do not harm City of London
Government document photographed outside No 10 states that 'London's financial centre' should not be closed to Russians

Britain is drawing up plans to ensure that any EU action against Russia over Ukraine will exempt the City of London, according to a secret government document photographed in Downing Street.

As David Cameron said Britain and its EU partners would put pressure on Moscow after it assumed control of Crimea, a government document drawn up for a meeting of senior ministers said that "London's financial centre" should not be closed to Russians.

The picture of the document was taken by the freelance photographer Steve Back, who specialises in spotting secret documents carried openly by officials entering Downing Street. The document was in the hands of an unnamed official attending a meeting of the national security council called by the prime minister to discuss the Ukrainian crisis.

    The document said Britain should:

    • "Not support, for now, trade sanctions … or close London's financial centre to Russians."

    • "Discourage any discussions (eg at Nato) of contingency military preparations".

    • Embark on "contingency EU work on providing Ukraine with alternative gas [supplies] if Russia cuts them off".

    • Draw up a technical assistance package for Ukraine "ideally jointly with Germany".

New chargé d'affaires Ajay Sharma makes UK's first envoy trip to Tehran since ties severed after 2011 storming of embassy

Britain's newly appointed chargé d'affaires has travelled to Iran in the first diplomatic visit by a UK envoy since London severed all but nominal ties with the Islamic republic two years ago after the storming of its embassy in Tehran.

In a significant move towards upgrading bilateral relations and the eventual goal of reopening embassies in respective capitals, the UK's foreign office last month named the head of its Iran department, Ajay Sharma, as its non-resident chargé d'affaires for Iran. Tehran also named Mohammad-Hassan Habibollahzadeh as Sharma's counterpart.
